S02E05: A ghost... A prophecy... A slime...

New day, new challenges!

First, we find Wendie has already set up a small bed in the kitchen/dining room.

And Wendala awaits us at the front door.

Random starts to muse what to do about her, and jokingly (allegedly) offers to have Guanidia be her boss instead.

But Guanidia doesn't want anything to do with this.

On Randoms part, he doesn't seem all too excited about any of this either. After this he says 'so there's no confusion at all, you'll be sleeping in the kitchen.'

And then we have to...

Tell Wendala what chores she'll do. We have to do this every day, and each option gives her a whole... +1!!!!! in a stat. There's no indication this happens at all, I only know because Errant poked around in the code, and they did not mention which chores boosted which stats. Anyway, we make this decision every day from hereon, and this is basically the entirety of Wendala's role in this game until the postgame. Yes. It is so pointless.

...

We tell her to wash the clothes and then depart.

Now, I don't think we have to go see the ghost at the port. You can go to school and do todays school shenanigans first. I didn't test if it'd let you go to bed or if you could still see the ghost after doing the school stuff, but you can do that much, so I'm inclined to think this is still optional, even after triggering its availability.

We have to walk a long way down some cliffs.

... Random 'Pissyfeet' Pendragon.

Also, in front of the peeing sailor, there's just a sky diamond in the water here.

This guy tells us a 'Lord Beckford's' crypt is supposed to be around here somewhere. We found a grave and a key with those names... Hm.

Also, that grate to the right, Random just says he can feel a breeze coming from it.

Bonding with the locals over insane fish murder. If only Luci were here...

We ignore this doorway for the moment.

What. You pick up dead fish all the time.

See!

Anyway, that guy right there is a merchant. There's also a talk option:

There was a fisherman who said the exact same thing in the Rillia Port.

And... he sells an accessory Random cannot equip! Great! I buy one anyway though, just in case Guanidia can use it.
He probably cannot.

Uh huh.

Can't talk to this hooded woman from the side...

I didn't leave anything out, the ghost just changes shapes and then says ghosts have peculiar powers! Then Random says Sarah is so sexy and asks if he can touch and the ghost firmly rebuffs him.

Please do not touch ghosts.

Uhm. Well, I guess that was a thing. Too bad we're not going to Metrolia.

I grab more fish from the back room and then go downstairs to the counter proper.

It's empty so we loot it and then go back outside.

We enter the hole in the cliff face this time.

There's a couple rooms here but...

All we want is this... road.

The key we got from the crypt where we first met Alison opens this door, buuuuut...

Hm. What about... behind it...?

Another key... what is it for? We pass through the barred door and...

Oh.

The Beckford crypt awaits.

So. We get an easy but lengthy battle against Hal Beckford's Ghost here. He does enough damage (when he hits. He double-hits, but misses Random with both more often than landing them) that, theoretically, you might need to heal (I never did) .... While it takes a lot of 999 damage hits to kill him.

The real problem here is that while he always drops 18k GP (doubling our current held gold!) He can drop ONE of three unique items OR nothing.

Technically the armour is better than the Missonary Landcoat despite having somewhat lower defense. Those resists are nice. The Landcoat has higher Mind and Agility though. But... the other two items are accessories, and as I've already lamented here, our current accessory situation is -abyssmal-. That will be rectified when we hit LP3, and we don't even really need anything for fights in this game, but a better one'd be nice. Drakon belt would probably be better over all due to the resists, but the Winter Lord Cape negates terrain damage in addition to havign half decent stat boosts. Also 100% resistance to numb!!!

Most of this probably won't even matter and I'm not even sure this shit imports to LP3. The LP1 stuff does, but only limited LP2 stuff does. I'm pretty sure even our GP earned in LP2 doesn't import -for the most part-.

I had to do this fight five times because I got nothing four times in a row, then got what I wanted on the fifth.

And yeah, this is handled outside of battle drops with some weird eventing. Not sure RPGMaker 2k battles could handle dropping only one item out of three, without there also being a chance of getting the other two as well.

Guess we should listen to Random now. He's a smart boy and should know all about luck given that his name is freaking Random after all.

Also this is here.

Time for school.

Leona tells us that she thinks our reward for the golem trial will arrive shortly. I guess she thinks that's good news? Even though it's not really news at all?

She also tells us about this golem in the middle of the room there. Thomas is the sole victor thus far 'even Earnest lost'. I believe Leona lost too.

Cecil is nowhere to be seen right-

Oh, he's cowering in the back room.

Chaz! has not fought it yet, and is stalling until everyone else has fought it.

It's an elite sword school, you're supposed to be here!

Earnest is not taking his defeat well.

Oudes Giulli is where the celestial gate that once delivered a demonic invasion opened up. And it may open there again!

This guy also tells us he thinks Gaor is weak to water. Too bad no one here has water spells. Except we just picked up a Rivers of Doom. EXCEPT we do not need it, and it has a much better use.

Thomas refuses to acknowledge us, so we speak to Roman next.

Yea, we had a date with a ghost girl at the port and also the ghost of an evil malevolent old man, so we had to be up early.

Technically true, I suppose.

Anyway we have to fight the golem for a test.

Incredible sprite and name combo. They're both great.

Anyway, Gaor can be dangerous, it has high attack and can inflict berserk. Takes a lot of damage to go down. But with basic strategy and not being screwed over by bad luck, it's easy to win. Don't have to win, though.

Woo.

Random says something abotu asking the armorer some questions, which we don't see, because we just cut to him returning home.

We go straight to bed even though it's probably lunch time at the latest now and get a message three months pass.

Whenever Guandia is not on screen everyone should be asking, Where's Guanidia? except unironically.

Random starts saying something about Roman having talked up today as being great for some reason, so he bets its another really important trial, like the golem genocide one.
He hopes he's grouped with Leona.

Random then starts yelling for Guanidia some more.

Cut to... Guanidia whining about Tyrine's paved roads.

very redundant

This large area is completely empty of everything but the way forward.

Guanidia is shocked to see another slime in the next area. He explains himself and the other slime mentions there's a community of slimes living nearby.

The slimes response to this is just "Ummm... Congratulations." which is way funnier to me than it should be.

Anyway, Guanidia gets taken to the slime town of '50-60 slimes'.

Our new friend joins out party, to give us a tour.

The first slime we speak to give us some foreshadowing...

And we steal his stat item.

This true and dirty worm hunter is resentful of the rest of the community.

This is a hell of a line in context.

that's racist guanidia

also... promoted slime...

Slimes don't usually like human girls, sounds like.

Slime only battle item, sounds like.

More foreshadowing.

Lapalalu. Heck of a name.

In one house, Guanidia meets his love interest who is never relevant to anything.

And our guide has a jukebox in his home. Because why not.

Mud is a true meal. I'm always saying this.

I love mud.

But apparently there's bad mud north of the village.

Following that path leads to a barricade we cannot pass. Apparently this leads to the forbidden garden with the golem in it. For reasons I cannot fathom, the golem is warded off by a slime throwing rocks at it when it comes too close.

Since we cannot go and gawk, we go back to the main part of the town.

To speak to The Ancient, not to be confused with the Ancients. There is a difference.

The Ancient is the 'Chief and mayor.' Anyway, he says every slime is a brother to him so Guanidia's free to do whatever so long as he does not wander into the forbidden garden.

He rehashes what we know about the golem and then adds:

I have no idea what he means here. The Key to Sacred Places comes out of nowhere without any prior mention to what either are.

Oh, here we go.

I like this line a lot.

lmfao. new intrusive thought just dropped.

Anyway!

The golem keeps destroying the path to the slime village, and the slimes seem to think rebuilding it all the time is hazardous to their health. Why is not explained.

The dicusssion ends and Cystidium ditches us.

We can buy an ccessory for Guanidia at the slime shop now. Cystidium refused to let us before because he claimed the guy only sold junk.

And these two will flirt some more now. Apparently she's a digger, but what that means is not explained. What is explained is that SHE WANTS MORE EXCITEMENT IN HER LIFE!

Not sure Guanidia is your best bet for that, lady, but we'll see.

And then there's nothing to do but leave.

We cut back to Random, but I'll leave off here. Shortish update, but if I started the next segment, it'd probably be pretty long.

Anyway, you're probably wondering 'Why did Fleshwit return to her LP now of all times? Wasn't Laxius Soul meant to come out in May? Is that why?"

Well, yes it was. But in late April, Indy announced that Laxius Soul was being pushed back to August. The games already 8 years late from the first announced release date, though I'm not sure that was ever a formal announcement. But it's been pushed back like four times in the last year or two since he announced he's finally going to make it. Oh well. It's not really much of a delay compared to the full eight years people've been waiting. And it gives me more time to finish as much of this LP as possible.

Anyway. Next time we'll do Randoms Biggest Trial. And we'll get one of Gamings greatest dialogue box.
