S02E09: Millipuf!

We cannot start Randoms scenario again, the game will not let us.

You've probably forgotten this but Mt. Zulle is actually Sarah and Randoms hometown. They were sent to Rillia to go to school.

Luci is the Rillian native, and even that's not completely certain, since she was left at the Rillian library as a baby.

She has to meet them in a glade in the Indinera Woods today.

Sarah's mother comes in and says what we're all thinking. Sarah for Suprem Elf!

Sarah's apparently quite the reader. While I don't think she's meant to be super smart like Luci or anything, I do think Sarah is meant to be smarter than she usually lets on, but plays up the dumb shallow girlfriend thing because that's what female elves are meant to be? And maybe what Random likes? Hard to say for sure though. And of course, reading lots of books, even 'important' ones, doesn't equal understanding them or being smarter than other people.

Sarah has the largest room and I'm not even sure where her parents sleep.

Sarah's parents seem to rent out their rooms to people like this creep. Apparently, he has been regularly harrassing Sarah and she threatens to tell her father and have him thrown out. And he just says some crap like I'll get your father to have you clean my room and who knows!

Then Sarah swears at him and leaves, so I'm glad she actually sticks up for herself a bit.

Think this is Sarah's little sister.

Her gramps is also here but this is all he has to say.

We go down to the basement and get a couple items, but the real reason to come down here...

We can't really do anything here yet.

Guess he's an artist?

there's that word again

If we go out either of the south entrances of this garden...

Woo!

We go back to the bedrooms and go upstairs this time.

Why else put a sign like this up if you're not renting out rooms?

I believe Tilsatroth is the guy who sent the package of decent early game gear we got from the Chanterless post office in LP1, but I'm too lazy to check. I think at the time, Sarah just said he was a friend.

The path to the other old mans room is blocked. For some reason. We go back downstairs.

I guess two of Sarah's masters are staying here?

Sarah's father just tells her to help her mother with the housework and Sarah's mother just says to get a move on.

So, out we go! Mt. Zulle! The town, or the part we're allowed to access is pretty much just a single dead straight road with buildings alongside it.

Sarah's retained a couple more things than Random did. If Sarah wasn't so high level, the diamond would be nice. That's the debuff diamond we used a lot before Sarah and Wendala had Love Me.

Random's parents live in a part of Mt. Zulle we cannot visit. You can also see the three kids that follow Sarah around here.

Find some shit to sell.

Can't visit the east side of town either.

That's a broom.

Upstairs, we find some more equipment.

There's two stores to the east of the Brandolino home. The weapon store has nothing good except for a way too expensive robe. Which we already had once upon a time in LP1. Don't remember if we kept or sold it when importing the save.
All the rest of the stuff is inferior to Sarah's current euip according to the 'UP' friend, there. The Elstar Robe might be inferior too. Don't remember. Stupid ass importing limiting my equipment options.

The Brandolinos are apparently quite popular. We head west to the next map.

Like the dog?

This area is entirely trees and the tavern/cafe here.

There's loot in the trees and you have to wiund through a path in the trees to find this gold. There's also a Tonic Tea in a barrel.

Also this guy. We've seen a Millipuf before. It was one of the superboss battles of LP1. Hidden behind a bunch of weaker enemies. A fight we won quite easily. It's the fight that results in the scene where Wendie calls Sarah a stupid bitch or something and Random makes her get on her knees and apologise.

They're basically worshipped by the elves, are incredibly fast and their sting packs an extremely powerful punch. An often fatal one. Also, they're very hard to kill for normal people due to both speed and resilience.

Uhhh... sure.

Another wannabe casanova harrasses Sarah and she threatens to obliterate him.

And an old guy recounts a story about a lone Milipuf killing a bunch of people who went mushroom picking. He says this took place during the Grand Winter 12 or so years ago.

I discover not long after asking about this in the Aldorlea Discord that the Grand Winter is the name of -one- of the -EIGHTEEN- months of the year, and not the beginning of Ragnarok like the Laxius Force games later made me think.

Inside the tavern, we find that the Deport does have half-elves.

Funny way to put it...

Another milipuf hunter.

And then in the rooms downstairs, there's a chest with a Chrome Sabre just below Sarah. It's worthless. However, if we leave it there, in the post-game it will turn into a Tonic Tea which may be more useful at that time. Though Sarah is the best healer so maybe not.

Nothing else here.

Sarah says she remembers...

And the conversation ends with this? I don't get it. Is she? he? hitting on Sarah?

Then Sarah speaks to a brother working hard so his sister does not have to.

Beginning to think with all these elf perverts around and the elves being really sexist that maybe Thomas Was Right.

Oh, I know exactly who we can ask about what signs are for!! Oh wait. no. NO

what the fuuuck are you talking about

lmfao

Anyway, time to get on with it.

Hidden items. Speaking of, hidden entrance/exit too! When I was done in the glade I spent a minute trying to figure out how to leave. It's in the left corner.

The four masters are here.

Elves are sick.

I cut out like half of this speech but it seems like Suprem Elf is just a rank that applies broadly to all kinds of elves like Wood Elf and crap. Also promotion doubles as a rite of passage into adulthood? They tell Sarah she'll be an adult after she takes her bath in an ancient magic lake. It's the way things have been done for centuries.

But first you have to -earn- the right to take the bath.

The first test is to destroy this thing, which I do with ease. Sarah's Nymphs Para still dominates everything.

Then the other guys come over and say the next test is to find and kill a Millipuf.

We also get an antidote. Apparently it will only take a few drops to heal Millipuf venom.
Now Sarah decides to find someone who can take her to find Millipufs.

You may think the two hunters would be the answer here, but they both basically go durrr idk they usually find us.

The answer lies in the weapon shop.

A bard who was selling maps earlier has a map showing where Millipufs live. So you can -avoid- them.

He initially thinks Sarah wants to kill a worst enemy with one.

But when she says no, she wants to find one for herself he says this and then:

Sarah tells him off.

...

Also she said Dom Juan and not Don Juan.

...

He's going to sell the map to Sarah for 500GP, but then changes his mind because she has a nice smile.

Now that we have the map, lets talk to the two hunters again-

Wow, rude.

Holy shit. Calm down, Hitler.

Djugan on the other hand, is all too eager to hunt Millipufs with Sarah, for free even, since he loves hunting them so much. Sarah explains why she needs a Millipuf and...

I'd love to know why Sarah thought a bug net would be fine for the god wasps.

Djugan really sucks outside this one skill.

Djugan will yell at the other hunter for being a pig, and the other guy calls him a bastard. Sarah breaks it up by saying -she- wouldn't want to destroy this cute inn.

Djugan kills the wasp in the garden at the Brandolino home so we can get some great loot.

And Djugan gets a little kiss.

Those shoes are great though!!!

We go deep into the woods, and this infamous bow is hidden right at the entrance where you cannot see it.

It blows though. Maybe it would have been good in LP1!

There's six Millipufs hanging out in the woods.

They drop 14k GP when slain, so I decide to hunt all six. Djugans skill works as advertised and seems to kill Millipufs in one hit without fail. Nice.

Also these things are here and some sea horse looking dudes called Emerald Souls.

This very small lake area has three of the Millipufs scattered around it.

Also this... giant spider you cannot seem to interact with.

If you hang out on this map long enough, the lake attacks you. This is what I wanted all along!

It drops this nice item. Sure, it has some penalties. But the bonuses are well worth it!

When we get back Djugan leaves the party. He had a bit of banter with Sarah here and there but none of it was particularly interesting. And he only shows up very briefly in future Laxius Force 1 after this.

The masters are amazed Sarah went out and got shit done immediately, so now she gets a month off.

But before she begins her little vacay, she is implored to chose one of two paths.

So, Arts obviously focuses on her magic and healing.... Acrobatics, she focuses more on being a fighter, and I believe she starts dual-wielding. I've heard Acrobatics Sarah is the most powerful character in Laxius Power 3, buuuuuut, its not really needed. Also I feel like the later games assume you went with Arts. Also the Acrobatics stuff in both LP2 and LP3 tends to be bugged. Up to and including a partymember joining us in Sarah's postgame. There's some stuff in LP3 as well.

I prefer magic and healing anyway.

We go home.

Sarah decides to ditch without telling anyone. She does write a letter but all she writes is that she's taking some time for herself... somewhere.

In the only example of Sarah getting along with animals thus far, this horse somehow knows it is needed and shows up as Sarah is leaving. She is grateful and seems to actually understand it.

Sarah bids the horse farewell, and just says Yes in response to a neigh so I guess she really is talking to it. I'm not sure she ever speaks like this to an animal again.

Then we get a way too long and pointless scene about Sarah looking for Randoms house as she sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowly walks through Tyrine.

And, well. That's that.

Next time, we'll probably cover the entire second half of Sarah's scenario in one update. YES, I said second half. And yes I am including the postgame.
