S02E11: It's No ZettaFlare!

So last time we finished Sarah's Destiny, one of the shorter two. Now we're on to Luci's Destiny. While it is not as long or as involved as Randoms, it does have a bit more to do and going on in it than Sarah's.

Don't expect Herasia to get much to do though.

As she says, it's supposed to be cold here, since Fanta is up in the mountains. Two KM up, apparently!

This is Zanbard. He's basically the only part of this destiny, or even all of LP2 that really matters and even then his role in Laxius Force could be replaced by any sufficiently skilled wizard or even a book.

He talks about how he usually does not take on such young pupils but he thinks he should make an exception this time but he doesn't seem to know or care why.

We walk in a short way...

Zanbard teleports directly in front of them.

Over the course of the ensuing conversation, Zanbard is basically very brusque and rude to Guardian Ashcroft and 'Minion' here.

Anyway, eventually Luci and her things get sent to a room.

Luci mumbles to herself about nothing and Herasia meows so Luci decides to take him on w alk.

She's got a ton of luggage. There's that chest. Crates of books...

... A bottle of wyrm milk...

And this crap we don't even need. She even says she doesn't even know why the scarf is here!

Luci's better equipped than even Random, really.

Herasia has fuck all though.

There's nothing in the school but corridors and locked doors, so we leave.

This is a kind of generic fantasy setting so what the hell does that mean in this context. A less anchronistic medieval setting? The classical period???

The northern quarter of Fanta is three tiers. School at the top, no buildings on the middle tier, just parks or something, and two buildings at the bottom.

Apparently, cold and dry is best for magic.

A wizard concealed behind a tree gives us a side quest to deliver a sealed letter, NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

We can't read it. Damn.

We get a Knight that's for some reason very curious about Luci's race even though I always thought people interrogating you about your origins was more of an American or Australian thing than an Euro one.

Free Apricot!

Oh and Luci needs this DEF up. That's the item shop right there. Nothing interesting inside, just lots of books. I buy some tonic teas and phoenix feathers.

Also some cursed creature is stuck in a cave somewhere.

We enter the White Tower.

Luci's like sure dude.

The tower is filled with these dudes who just say Welcome.

You can get a Shiny page from each of those two side rooms, but otherwise, still nothing here. We continue up.

This guy tells us the Silver Guard are meditative knights of peace and defend the tower from brigands and creatures who would threaten the tower, itself a symbol of wisdom and peace.

This sure is taller and much different than how it looked on the ground.

But there's nothing here. Let's head back to the school.

Luci wonders where the fuck everyone is. There's no staff, no other pupils, even Zanbard doesn't seem to be around. She's feeling lonely, so Herasia meows.

And she decides to go to bed.

Luci fusses around with the bed for a bit... I think. I have no idea what she's doing. There's a thud noise at one point.

Herasia stands guard over the wyrm milk.

Luci is abruptly teleported elsewhere and is cold and confused. She also demands to know where all the other pupils and staff of the school have been.

Zanbard doesn't give a fuck though.

He's extremely rude.

Then he asks Luci to detail how casting spells work.

Zanbard is like you're right but...

The screen shakes here and there's a weird sound effect that I think is meant to emphasise Luci's shock, as she stammers out What-what??

Luci says she can do this too, and then...

... she immediately flubs it by going uh yeah of course its dark you called me out to the mountains at 6am.

He repeats himself and Luci finally gets it and casts Flare after a bit of hesitation

Magic is to be used when it would help, etc. etc. Luci claims to think like this too.

Then Zanbard tells Luci to cast every spell family she knows on the rock there.

Yeah fuck that rock!

The 'Very good' prints out very slowly, letter by letter, for emphasis, so I'm guessing she is way better than he expected. I wonder if she didn't know Ark Freeze, which we earned during the Granit Tower post-game quest of LP1, would he be less impressed?

Anyway, that's the end of that scene.

Herasia has ditched Luci.

At the school entrance...

Luci is eager to do as asked because apparently she has done literally nothing all week.

The way to the mountains is this little side path here. The game does not mention this.

There's a crossroads a short way into the mountains. We keep heading north.

Aww, Zanbard teleports us out of the cave before we can fight it! Then he severely reprimands Luci, saying he's had plenty of pupils but few were ever so foolish as to disregard the sign.

We head north some more after the bridge...

Luci says there's no way to jump it and...

She gets teleported across.

Luci is yelling Zabard over and over for this whole scene.

Cats, uh, find a way.

Luci's had enough of Zanbards bullshit.

I pick 50 of these berries since they heal some MP. You can pick them forever if you care to.

PHRASING

Luci says she's learnt a lot. A lot of what, I don't know.

This is such hands off teaching. Anyway, he says he doesn't want Luci to become too detached from the rest of the world so that's why it's back to town for her.

Then he says bye, and she's like what already?

She just says bye this time.

But a monster interrupts her shower.

Yeah, nothing we can do in this fight really. It's scripted.

Zanbard starts rambling to himself here about how she cast Ark Flare But Not Quite But Close Enough But Also She Did Not Master It.

And well. Let's cut this update out here. I guess more happened than in Sarah's whole destiny already.
