S02E13: Demi-Goddess?? Is that what he means??

Last time: We got stuck into Luci's 'school' life, proper.

At the crossroads, we tell the cat that the stay on the mountains is nearly done!!!

Elsewhere on the mountains, a save flame... runs away from us?

I have no idea why this happens, all I can figure is it's to lead you to Raven here, maybe?

We tell her. She does not have much to say.

To find the other two, we must head back to Fanta.

Almydion has ditched the item shop for the White Tower.

Almydion hits on Luci a little and when she says 'I, err...' he ... 'smoothly' changes the topic.

She tells him and...

Smash who??? Mashed potatoes? What?

Almydion seems a little put out when he finds out it's not just the two of them. I think. I'm not sure if that's intentional.

Also... Walkyrie...?

Nikos is back in the school.

He doesn't have much to say besides bragging about the 'demoniac strength' of his spells.

So we go sleep, and sleep for a week. The Narrator rambles about nothing at all for way too long and eventually...

Time to go! Luci and some other students refer to today as 'D Day.'

Gotta love the cat.

Also Zanbard left his room unlocked so I still from him. The shield is useless, since Luci's Glass Rod of Aron is two-handed.

And the hat isn't exactly great.

Zanbards room also has this thing hovering around on a higher layer than us. If you use the space it should be in, it beeps and whistles so I can only guess that this is like the worst drone ever created, not bad for a fantasy world, I guess.

Leaving the school...

Everyone's waiting for us!

Also this guy we haven't seen before!

We head off into the mountains. First time it's been raining and not snowing.

We go to the plateau Zanbard seems all too fond of and...

This isn't much less than what he says in full, lol. He teleports away.

For some reason Almydion takes this a little poorly, but the Nikos and Raven seem excited to do some mountaineering.

Speaking of....

Nikos has all dark spells and ugh. Look at those stats. Those would be awful even for a jack of all trades, but he's meant to be a wizard!!!

Raven's a lot better but she's still very meh. She's evidently meant to be a cleric/mage/fighter type which is in keeping with what Valkyrie type classes often are in both western and eastern dungeon crawlers. In the games that have them or an equivalent, at least.

And she's dual-wielding a bow and a sickle????

?????But Walkyrie?????

First things, first. Grab this way off to the side. Now there's some different paths to climb up. But there's only two that we'll use. From the bottom anyway.

These things are here. I Lava Wall 'em. Which will be a recurring tactic.

Hey shout outs to anyone thats ever had a Fanta Bee before. I can't remember if I have but I know for sure I came close a few years ago!

LAVA WALL

We find some junk. Worthless!

Gotta climb all the way down.

You know it's raining really hard and theres even lightning strikes making the screenshake and also monsters are attacking us

So this has to be the worst climb of all time.

Even the mountain wants to kill us. Whatever the deal with these assholes are, Lava Wall does the full 999 damage to them... and it still takes three casts. Fuck off!!!

This may not look it, but it's functionally a mini-maze. An annoying one because it's not as straightforward as it looks. Some places that look passable are not, and vice versa.

I don't know what this thing is. It doesn't seem to do anything.

Neither does this hot wet lady

Luci can't even equip this!!!!!! And we can't mess with the others equipment!

Hell of an euphemism.

This thing hits really hard, but it doesn't have that much HP. A couple Lava Walls and it's dead.

Luci just tells everyone good job when it's dead and we cannot explore the hole the worm popped out of.

This motherfucker laughs at us for way too long for my liking.

I just use the usual tactics on him. Mostly. Nikos casts Attack Up on Almydion and Raven because they actually can do decent damage to this guy on crits. Up to 999 on crits, actually.

He has a second form I did not get to see do anything because he died on that turn.

And help us, it will!

We go back out to the cliff face.

Climb over to the right... Ignore the teaser chest and head in!

We've got to start genociding dwarves here. Annoying to fight. The encounter rate gets really high here for some reason.

Wooo

Another teaser chest!

This chest provokes a battle. I suggest not starting this fight this way though. I killed the following enemy and then could not get the loot you are meant to due to a bug. If you go into the hole to provoke it directly, there is no such risk however. I had to redo the whole dungeon up to this point because of this shit!!!! Painful.

Anyway. These things are rare random encounters too, but they're just harmless tanks really. Take ages to kill, do jack all. Also I thought lycose were spiders!

Was not.

Biting Hole.

Quite the haul. Luci thinks this lycose killed a lot of adventurers. Also. That Fairy Salt. Man. Remember when the fairies had no salt and we had to steal their last one by a fairy getting sick and teleporting us incorrectly so we could use it to heal Jezzie's fatal illness? And this fucking thing is just sitting on one and now we have it and I think it's totally useless!

Some minor treasures and it's back out to the cliff face.

I should point out that on the cliff face map, Luci moves more slowly than is usual. Even on ledges.

And then on the higher cliff face map... she moves even slower still. It is excruciating.

Slowly climb to the right.

Slooooowly crawl to this save point.

Also backtracking a little, you can walk along the bottom of the map here. No indication you can do this.

But it leads to the prior map.

There's... something with the rabbit sprite here moving around pretty fast, but it never changes its facing, like what you'd expect from a crab maybe. And it meows if you manage to talk to it. I don't care for it, whatever it is. It's too confused.

We make our way through, getting some boring minor loot.

Oh. THIS THING

Indy is deliberately and maliciously wasting my time here. This is harm. And self-harm. It takes minutes to walk through this spiral tunnel!

We do get a couple treasures out of it though and then we can always Egress back to the bottom of the cliffs or someth-

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGHJbdvgsdfsgh

I even checked in the caves. You cannot Egress. Have to walk through the stupid snail tunnel twice!

Climbing up the mountain, we get a simple boss fight. Not even really worth talking about. Used the usual tactics.

I was halfway up this pillar when I realised I was climbing up the wrong side and had to slowly clamber back down and go back up the other way.

Hm. Indy's crazy mountain designs are back.

Apparently there's something that the ring fits into.

And the middle two pillars vanish.

But this long walk north is completely pointless. Also that cave over there is unreachable.

I walk back to the beginning and open the other pillars.

Then I have to wait for this dude to get out of the way.

The end at last.

And we get a boss fight. I just did as usual and it turned out perfectly easy.

He tells Luci that she is his equal now! That was fast.

At this point Zanbard reveals he trained her completely differently from how she thought she was to be trained, without even asking her permission. (Luci even seems concerned about this for a moment but then changes her mind when...)

He basically says yeah you're like one of the biggest baddest bitches around so I had to do it. Being trained as a Magician would be too limiting. Magicians don't walk on lava or fight off Dazars when they're 15 years old.

Luci then asks wtf is a Half Goddess and Zanbard just says eh, you'll learn.

Then he gives her a book.

And tells her he still has one month of training left for her to do, to get used to her new body and powers.

Then they go back to Fanta.

I cut out a bunch of the rambling here but I don't get why these speeches tend to be such nonsense.

Syhe also mentions getting something from a Gustav at the tower.

Snow Cat

For some reason, Luci has ditched her glass rod, which is bullshit.

She's learnt Ark Flare and some other stuff, and everything has been scaled down. The usual.

She's also had a shelf of books moved into her room and the only book we can check out has the sole purpose of telling us what classes the school trains.

I never showed off the item shop before, but here it is. There's stairs on either side of the counter that have a barrier keeping you from going up them. However, now that we're promoted, Luci seems to have gained a low chance to penetrate the right barrier if you keep walking into it over and over.

Btw, stat items like the Talysma root have also been scaled down. It only gives Luci like +3 Max MP now.

The new equipment will help...

And Gustav has not made Luci's staff yet. That's okay, we had other reasons to come to the tower.

The guy just says the letter is important, then there's a rustling paper sound and he vanishes, leaving an empty chest behind.

And we already were pretty goddamn loaded.

Unless I'm forgetting something, this never comes up again, unless it'll be a Laxius Soul subplot/sidequest.

Elsewhere in the tower, this chest has also suddenly appeared. That's all for the tower. We head back out to the mountains.

This would probably be a hard fight if you didn't know the trick. The trick is that Luci's Paralysis spell, which now only casts 1MP, is very effective.

When he's paralyzed, Luci uses Protection a couple times and Herasia casts Poison Rain non-stop. Luci starts casting Lava Wall...

Luci runs out of MP before it dies and Herasia's Poison Rain only does like 20 damage (his normal attack does even less! Not as bad as Luci doing 3 damage on a crit tho)

But the few Lava Walls I cast did most of it's HP, which had to be like just over 2000 HP I probably shouldn't have bothered with Protection lol.

At least Paralysis bought me the ten or so turns needed to chip away its last couple hundred HP.

This is the only real postgame thing in this Destiny. But it's genuinely much more of a balanced encounter than any of the others which you had to grind for otherwise they were impossible. And then they were way too long and/or easy.

The key we got from the tower unlocks this chest. Those are both pet only stat items so I give them to Herasia.

And since that's all, we go back to Luci's room and open the letter we ignored.

It's from Random. (There's also an attached note from Zanbard saying to meet him later)

BOOM! Hell yeah!

L - gets some diamonds for 103%+

There's probably some ores mixed in there, but I'd have to ask Errant or find whatever crazy event handles this stuff.

But that's that. Just Coryool left now and we'll be done with this dumb bad tedious game. There's even a strong possibility I could fit Coryool's entire Destiny into one long update. I might've been able to do that with Sarah too, really. Maybe even Luci's! This post is just 20k characters. Have to check the character counts of the other posts sometime.

Vibrating with excitement to get to LP3.
