S03E05: Day 2: The Pillaging Comes To An End, But The Burning Never Will

The R-word is in this update, just FYI.

House that has nothing in it really, but I am compelled to screenshot every Ronnie and Brad I come across because those are funny names to me for a long list of reasons.

The next house doesn't have much going either. A... Duchess??? that does not like mornings but does love flowers. Sarah says she's her spirit animal.

who likes lemmings

fish

The Mage Guild is just south of the giant statue.

Half the NPCs here just say this or a variation of it to us, and we can't even interact with the ID mage at all.

Well, I SUPPOSE we don't know it's for real or not yet...

We can also pick up some tidbits here and there.

The only quest we can pick up here is the promotion quest.

Apparently this potion is at a shut down prison named the Prison of Desa. And he says something about the robbers being so small they could hide inside? Well. That's not gonna be a problem for Guanidia, Herasia and Random.

Lucida Tower. Remember this.

On the second floor we can find slightly more info on goings on:

Oh hey you read the LP1 manual too huh.

"of a guild."

And our lack of rank has spared us from apricot trees for the time being.

And apparently the fairies in the swamp may die from this.

Apparently Lucida Tower is bad news!

Up to the third floor.

At this rate, we'll shortly bump into a NPC who'll explains the whole main plot to us.

Hey!!!! You're stealing someone else's dialogue!!!!!! Cheatir!

what

This guy tells us the name of Aquapanga's two stars. The pale one can only be seen with special instruments, apparently!

Time to explore River St.

I already showed off the shrine to the Useless Goddess but there is a place of interest right next to it.

An elven antiquaire buys the painting we recently stole for 45,000PP.

I always knew art theft was the way to go.

He also buys this import item off us for 18,000PP. I sell it to him, but the crown does have a second use. We could use it to join a guild earlier than usual. Except we'd join the guild and then be unable to do the two quests available for a long ass time. I think even when you get the other item that lets you join, you're still far off from being able to complete the two quests lol.

We can also buy shit off him. This costs 5000PP.

I buy all three. None of them are quite good enough to equip right now though. The Lady Breeze Ring and Lord Beaumonts Ring are both relics, Lord Kalls Bracelet has the symbol for neither the artifact or relic so I guess it's just a regular grade unique item.

In the house next door, we have the continuation of a very very minor 'subplot' from LP1.

Yeah this is the guy who is supposedly the worlds best arm-wrestler.

I have no fucking idea what Basdo is, Sarah.

Anyway, Random will ask Coryool if he's up to it if he's in the party, though before Coryool answers he immediately asks about a prize.

Sarah will also pipe up to ask if he needs payment from them and he just says nope, I don't do that anymore! Got too much money!

Coryool immediately loses. Like, no struggle like in LP1. Just flat out loses in a second. Like in LP1, this is based on Coryool's MAX HP, and he needs 800, which he is still pretty far from.

Not sure if we want to know, Wendie.

I know le. and coffre but I can't tell you the rest.

thats a lotta fucking arm wrestling.

Just across the road...

Sarah immediately volunteers herself and Randoms literally says "You've gotta be kidding me."

Jens directs her attention to the nude female statues he has about the place.

In turn, Random points out there's a bunch of male busts around too.

Well.................................... Can't argue with that.

Ultimately though, Random gets his way when he says we have much more pressing things to do.

Now, Leanda doesn't actually say anything in this scene but she apparently does strongly consider also volunteering to model for Jens.

This is an actual quest too.

Also, there's a door exploiting the blocking system.

The home is empty of anything but a barrel with a medicate in it and a guy saying the house is for rent.

Apparently some lady has been missing for six years.

Wait a minute...

Potatoes are extremely expensive on the black market.

In the next house, we get offered a trade for a book we've found at least three, maybe even four times. Except we only have one copy now due to import bullass.

I pick the axe even though it's not really anything special, and I think only Leanda can use it currently.

Not sure if she's being racist or she just doesn't give a shit.

This guy says Jens loves to work with elven models.

lol

what does this even mean. did you try to teach her good manners or something. We saw nothing of the sort.

You mean Sarah doesn't know??? oh my god

well to be fair can you imagine how badly she'd lose her shit if she did know, Wendie already lives in her head, rent free, as it is.
Still probably shouldn't keep that kinda thing from your GF though. lol.

The most important conversation is with this guy though! To my horror, we advance a sidequest a bit!

This is about being promoted to the second rank of the Fighter's Guild.

He says he'll only commend us if we go to the 'Ore Lab' and kill the two guardians at the entrance.

His daughter promises to help us out. I think this is an alternate solution to killing the monsters, but either way works the same.

Also I find a new brand of useless shit.

Exploration continues.

Still can't go in here.

I wouldn't even bother screenshotting this shitty fish store if not for one of the NPCs inside.

lmao at Sarah.

She thinks fish tastes bad. What an absolute cretin.

The next home has another sidequest for us.

Apparently the curse scattered the kids over all of world.

they are all twins

laughing at the phrase "Slappa et Damien."

Anyway, I steal her/her kids PP.

There's no reason to come in here right now besides...

This guy is hinting at there being some shops outside of Metrolia that are only open at very specific slices of every gameplay hour, iirc.

Like just for example, if you look at your gametime the shop would only be open at XX:45:XX to XX:55:XX, so like ten minutes an hour. A very specific ten minutes. There's a couple different places with different times like that.

Not open to visitors, apparently.

Score! Despite being a smithy though, no one is here but a cat that only Herasia can speak to.

Oh my god.

Anyway the cat relates that the four dwarves left and took their 'stupid rat' with them, and now Miloof can actually sleep in peace!

Then Herasia notes that Luci is probably wondering what he's doing and asks Miloof if they think she's pretty.

lmfao

Two big soft balls is not the phrasing I'd use even for the sake of a joke about a cat not really understanding breasts.

Chaz! is not impressed.

lol

Anyway, we buy a bird for Sarah. Sadly it is not a party member. I would kill to see 'GENDER: Bird'

We also steal some good shit.

There's no one home, but there is some hidden loot.

Wow, gotta go with Coryool on this one.

The shop is uninteresting besides the armour guy over there saying the giants always kidnap women and implies he thinks worse things than just being killed are happening there. Don't know if that's ever confirmed or not.

This costs us 8.3k PP but gets us two weaponsmith recipes.

She also translates the Book of Egidon for 2something thousand PP which gets us two alchemy recipes.

We move on.

Damian...

Corn Muse.

Ron!

There's also a guy named Unik that plays the flute.

Kurt'll ask if you want to see them perform, and if you do, they'll do it.

They play a short bit. Like less than ten seconds.

Random and Sarah both say they're good, and Sarah even wishes she can play that well. Wendie says she's pretty sure she can play better, and Random starts to reprimand her when she says JUST BRING ME A PIANO. We've seen you play a piano! Twice! Both times even Sarah had to grudgingly admit you were good.

She can play the drums just as well as piano, though, and impresses everyone yet again.

There's also a jukebox here with very few options.

Theatre is dead!

Baretta!
Random remembers her too.

That's a hell of a sign. So if you remember in the second half of LP1, there was the shop we backtracked to many times to buy stuff off of her that she was mostly making herself. Including Random's second best weapon, the Empyrion. That was Baretta.

Anyway, yeah, she won't open until... a few days in, I think?

Greatly misleading name. No loot, shitty shop and no NPC banter worth entering for.

We sell our fethers to this guy. Technically this is much more than we would have got from the guy in LP1, but it's not like it matters a huge deal either way. We'll always have plenty of coin.

We can also have Herasia talk to the cat in fethers mans house.

She asks Herasia to take her elsewhere in exchange for a Cat Berry. Herasia says sure, and the party doesn't say anything about another cat suddenly following us.

She counts as a comrade but has no function whatsoever.

Also I just remembered we have this entry under 'Noticeable Victories.'

Hahaha YES we got TOURNEYS AGAIN!

Guy on the top floor is panicking about shit. Downstairs...

Oh, I guess Wendie was like the team manager for her old masters, huh. Really weird and funny detail to put in.

Also bizarrely, Luba is the name of a major character in this game but is not the same as this Luba. This is followed by another NPC with the same name as a major character:

lol

Anyway this tourney is not open until right near the end of the main story.

However, Katie Drembacher here will offer to fight the whole party 1vs4. We do not take her up on this offer, for she would quickly destroy us.

And here's a kid with grand long term plans.

Gonna leave this place for the end of the update... for reasons.

Loot a house of valuable items...

GASP

We can also buy three more menu walls from her.

I buy all three, but Eugh. Legendary Quest is hideous.

Chainsaw Massacre is alright. There's a comment that it's a 'Teenagers favourite'. Given Indy's love of horror, I guess that's who she means.

This is 'Classy Stuff' and is allegedly how gentlemen have discussions.

Meh.

So buying the Kaleido Walls opens a new section in the Dreambook...

The Kaleido Walls come with a bunch of menu walls too. This is Queen of Dreams. Like it.

There's also a list of menu walls in the game. We don't have all of them yet, but we likely have the large majority.

This is Azur Legend. Like this one too.

AUGH this is Metal Crisis and hell is it a crisis

This is the default LP1 one, now called Seas of Heaven. It's okay I guess.

Another returning wall from LP1: Walls of Destiny and how I hate it.

Tombs of Dahgo. Like it.

Hell Incarnate. Like it too.

Benevolence. No Thanks.

Golden Road. I'd like it if the border around the highlight box was less... thick.

Darkin' Park. Meh.

Army of Lords. It's okay.

Blue Lagoon... Meh.

Wood Cabin. Hideous.

I stick with Queen of Dreams for now. If there's one you feel is particularly nice looking, you vote that I use it. I will retain a veto in case Metal Crisis wins since I shall not allow people the excuse of not reading this LP just because they voted to make the dialogue boxes unreadable.

I spent a while looking at this menu and eventually kept looking at Luci's class and uh... don't you think H-Goddess is an extremely unfortunate abbreviation of Half-Goddess? So many better choices but no Indy went with that. lol.

"freedom."

What does what mean? What? Was Random supposed to read as subtly insulting Sarah?

There's a completely devoid of anything home here.

Lady warns is there's nothing to find there anyway. Or so she says.

And this guy is how we do alchemy. I decline to do anything for now. There's also an ingredients store in here.

This is the place the Crown of Celestine would have made us a member.

perhaps it is good that no one here will speak with us.

Taken potatoes

Sarah asks whats wrong and Luci says she feels something weird, and...

We get another easy boss fight!

Yeah, I just buffed everyone a bit and then had Random Golden Attack and Luci cast Lava Wall (probably more efficient spell to choose here but eh), Sarah cast Green Laser and Wendie cast Shocker (worked out really well, it blew its mind nearly every time so it barely got to do anything)
It's more capable than Yen Karis was, but still easy. Has around 3500 HP or something.

People turning into demons in their own homes...

She literally explodes.

You're a sick puppy, Wendie.

Maybe the True Demons is mankind.

The loot sucks. This is an artifact but it's not great.

To the south end of town! Nearly done exploring Metrolia!

Bazizka! Tower is not open.

This lone home over on the east side...

It has animal fights downstairs!!!

They're illegal here too! And the party doesn't give a FUCK! We won't be entering for now, since the last couple fights would destroy Guanidia and Herasia.

We can actually hire this guy if we have a free slot but he's terrible.

Oh Indy, you motherfucker.

Another injoke about how the Goldeen Bow was not actually in LP1.

There's not much else to this tavern than that. It solely exists for Scott.

We get a helpful tidbit here. I believe a lot of dungeons in this game don't have random encounters, but some do, and so does the world map.

taters

Apparently Millipuves are threatening to leave the Indinera Woods.

You cheated and had a guy kill them for you in one hit.

Another guy expresses more concern about the slime nest and mentions the guild quest.

Wendie does in fact say that if Coryool is not present.

This guy comments that "We adventurers" know the best equipment is found outside of stores.

That explains a lot.

Stealing money...

And Guanidia and Wendala team up to bully a child.

The shop here sells trash, as mentioned.

Coryool will tell the woman here she's meant to be cleaning up, and Sarah will call him a pig.

There he is.

This guy would give Leanda a nice dress if she'd become a Celestial Geomancer.

Dan moved here from the Upper West??

This is an actual side quest.

There's not much to see here for now.

Whoa. Creepy music too.

Not sure what's going on here, but the name of the map for this house is 'Hellraiser.'

We can steal a couple samples of Dan's work, just like last time.

Bob's place... is right next door to Dans. Seems like bad business.

MY DAILY BREAD

Anyway I couldn't find a sample here and do not buy a Bob's Bread.

This is not a sidequest.

Home of an elven family. Only worth noting for:

Shitty loot!

Well yeah, I mean, do we even have any proof it even happens.

There's the daily bread.

I don't think you understand the meaning of 'plot-critical dungeon', Sarah.

What a random conversation.

HE'S RIGHT THO

Herasia will also meow here. Anyway this inn is also fully reserved by the Royal Court, apparently!

This is the last place! Then I'm free!!!!!!

Sure! Whatever you want guy, I don't care I'm so fucking happy to be here right now. We've finally finished exploring Metrolia.

You know how tedious and time consuming making this and the last update were? Good god.

The screen shakes as something jumps us, however.

Both Random and Luci wonder how they did not see this thing coming.

This fight is an absolute cinch. It -crits- Sarah for 36 damage. Random crits it for 999 damage which is like half its HP and his normal attack does 500, after he uses TeAndal's Glory.

It is a complete nonthreat.

Complete non-reward too.

There's a giant explosion when it dies.

Random is of course SHOCKED by this.

Luci reminds Random of what Vision said about not trusting anyone outside Metrolia and says she thinks this attack was the work of the Black Dagger people.

Then we move on.

You may be wondering why this is here. Well, the game auto-transitions us to this new map representing the city gates, and that's when the Slayers Bonus XP kicks in, and Luci leveled up due to it.

Logged under Noticeable Victories.

Well. One last thing to check out in the city, and then I'll end the update.

But first we need to rest!

This is how you rest lol. Wendie talking shit at the main characters.

Okay. Our final destination.

Nice Magus statue.

If you say no, he makes a final offer of 10k PP, and we say yes. No other interesting dialogue here.

I teach this to Luci, so let's check out her new spells.

Element resist spell...

And a weakass earth spell.

Okay, here comes the important bit.

This guy right here just told us almost everything there is to know about the villains of this game.

Luci reacts to the one familiar name and Random asks if she's okay. She brushes him off.

So yeah. Cenodemons. Ceno- is a Greek prefix that means new or recent. Like you'd use it kind of like you would neo-.
These are new, artifical demons made by wizards and they were based out of Lucida Tower.

Wizards. No sense of right or wrong.

BTW:
