S03E06: Day 2: Sweet Little God and the Hideout.

Last time: We finally finished exploring Metrolia and got attacked by a minor demon plus a random NPC told us most of the backstory.

Also, R-Word is also in this update FYI.

We make our way through Metrolia's shitty ass security theatre.

Laxius Power 3: The Final Terror OST: 10: Overworld Map

Luciana reminds Random -why- they're out and about and what has happened so far and concludes they don't have great odds. Random is about to ask her something when she also says they better not conclude anything just yet.

what are you even talking about lol. as if yveen popping up to do something wouldn't be suspicious in itself.

And with that, we're off the leash.

I have no idea if this place here is actually anything but we can't interact with it as of now.

The Metrolian Woods with the old royal castle is right to the west of Metrolia...

The Assassins Den is very close to Metrolia. And as you can see, dungeons usually... give -some- indication of what Slayers types are find inside.

It'll be a long ass time before we make it to the Land of Dragons. We're actually not completely off the leash. IIRC wandering too far has us either come up to barricades or the party complaining about going too far from Metrolia/the swamp.

It'll be a bit before we get to the swamp either, we should be happy for Sarah!

Thieves Den is south of everything else...

And the Land of Dragons is blocked off.

Slime Nest isn't far off in the other direction.

This already counts as 75 miles??? holy shit.

I leave the road to show off an isolated place in the middle of a lake, plus the top of Lucida Tower.

Also run into a couple fights. Trolls are absolutely nothing for us. The Metrolian Tyrano has a couple thousand HP but is easy to mind blow, so it never gets to do anything. If it can hit nasty, I'll tell you some other time. But it gives shit XP and not much loot, so probably not.

What we want to head to first is that little dark mark here.

Well, look who it is!

Nash is building a lair and will use it to 'slay innocent ones and become a famous Druk!'

He tells us to be patient while he gets ready to murder. Sarah just tells him that's stupid and pointless and then he recognises her.

He's gonna prove that Druks are better than Elves by coming with.

Though he does say one misplaced word and he'll eat Sarah.

"skills help him dealing with most situations.

Very self-confident, he has yet to learn the best spells of his class!
But overall, a true fighting engine!"

QUOTE:
"Druks, sooner or later, will rule the world!"

Anyway. If we hadn't imported, we'd have to wait until Nash finished building his lair on Day 5 to recruit him, and even then we'd have to help him finish it by doing a quest to find three ancient skulls for him.

Marching to the NW of Metrolia, there's an interesting little cave...

Random suggests bringing civilisation to the place. So, this is our real HQ for the entire game and it'll see more use than the one in LP1 ever did. Especially since just entering it fully restores the party, saving us from having to walk to the inn way far back in Metrolia, which'd take a couple minutes. The new hideout is even a Teleport point!

Everyone's chilling out and having fun here.

Oh, er.... Almost everyone.

lol

Coryool made a fighting area to justify non-active members getting 1/4 XP or whatever it is now.

Guanidia does an impression of Nash when Random asks him to.

I backtrack to Metrolia to...

Recruit this guy!

And offer the homeless man in the souveneir shop a home!

Good ol' whales are still the same. I buy a lot.

Luci just clears her throat and then sighs in response. Please don't be a pest, Richard.

Anyway. Let's head out and get some shit done.

Good.

Literally the first thing I find is Yveen because of course.

And she's telling us she's about to get even more useless to boot.
She exhorts the party to DO SOMETHING (she literally says do something!) quick! but does not say what.

Eh, I'm sure you're exaggerating, the Cenodemons are just probably just like little dumb babies. Drop us a line if a true threat shows up while Luci's dropping Ark Flares on wolves or something.

She wishes us good luck and then is gone.

Thank you, Indy and Yveen.

Dunno what this is about.

At the end of this map, these things attack us and I've no idea what they are since this is the one single random encounter I get in the entire woods and both get done in by one normal attack each.

This is one of the armours we could've fought the Hal Beckford ghost for in LP2.
I equip it on Random.

For its resists, not its stats.

And just north of it is... the first of the 8 kids!!!

There's not a whole lot going on for most of the woods, but it is a pretty large place.

With dead-ends.

I run around and find a few more mushrooms until...

The Old Metrolia Castle! The wooden doors can't be opened, but as we can see, there's a side entrance.

Also this grave. Dunno if this has to do with anything.

Inside, well. It's a big empty castle. It's also way too complex. It's a confusingly laid out maze and you can't even reach a large portion of it, I believe. There's no loot at all inside. I didn't find anything anyway, but I didn't have a super careful look around either.

I did find a balcony though.

I head back into the woods.

Find some treasure...

fethers

Then I Egress.

There's a shop just south of the woods, near the Thieves Den.

Chaz! is not impressed.

Seriously super unimpressed.

I buy one potato, which is all that she sells. There's an actual reason to do this. So buy a potato!!!!!

We steal this from the basement. It sucks.

lol

And this guy drones on about a spell Luci wishes she could learn. We've only had this in scroll from in LP1 and 2, thus far. Really is good though even though I never used it because it also wasn't really necessary for most fights.

That's all for here, so we move on some more. To the east!

Then south through that pass...

And a swamp or something that hurts you.

I love these guys! But they're not a threat at all.

We won't be checking this place out just now.

But we are taking a look here!

When we approach, Random immediately freaks out about how creepy the tower looks and why it's only raining around the tower.

That's exactly what it is, Random. Also, wizards.

Every time you use this statue, a bolt strikes it and the same dialogue happens. Doesn't seem to do anything else, though.

Some loot is hidden behind it though.

Better than relying on consumables or MP I guess.

We can head inside too.

And you can bump into this dragon that destroys us but not too badly. Maybe a lot of buffing and debuffing would work but there's no real point trying now.

R.I.P.

It's easy to avoid the beast though, it doesn't move very fast.

This actually sent me to the game over screen the first time I touched it.

Because it does random amounts of damage. Well. That's all to see here.

Mosquito Swamp is just by the hideout basically.

The name of this dungeon is very inconsistent. Most everyone in Metrolia said 7000 Corpses and I think there was a 7000 skeletons in there somewhere. Skulls is the best one though.

The Underkings territory requires us to pass through a dungeon so let's not.

Let's go visit the peasantry!

Okay, the first thing we come to is a shithole with lit fires. Let's move on.

Just past the 'abandoned' hut is farmland.

The locals are a simple folk.

We also steal some crops, like a Foxglove Bulb.

Uhhhhhhh lol

Anyway this is the guy that posted the Slime Nest quest.

Loot loot loot

Not Our Problem. If you made a formal quest request, we'd be glad to have Luci just drop an Ark Flare on that wolf. 'Til then, tough luck.

Randoms looking at Gray Leaves here. All the items I find outside here are alchemy ingredients.

Everyone in Metrolia couldn't stop talking about how much they loved the king.

R.I.P.

Huh this wealthy and powerful city is built atop (and excludes) the lower classes. How about that?

Ancient Sand...

Pet Foods nice I guess. It'll save me a single Whale right now.

Fruits of Mist.

We're not allowed to enter the 'Old Woods' and no we can't even ask Tibor.

Not my problem yet!

There's a guy obsessing over how much he loves his armor in here and Random is puzzled over why someone would care about a common mithril armour.

If Chaz! is in the party, he'll butt in to say AKSHULLY I THINK IT MIGHT BE METROLIAN ARMOUR

Wow! Shut up Coryool!

Anyway, that's all for the peasant farms.

More worthless fights confront us on the way to our next destination.

The Mod. Science Institute!

Isn't that an umber hulk? Anyway it dies easy.

Uhhh. Is it saying it heals or prevents those status effects? Attack Up has that too and I've never noticed it before...

As we draw closer to the Mod. Sci. Institute we are confronted with the first challenging random encounter. And it was only that much of a challenge cos of the hurt floor around this area. I guess it has a bunch of HP and can do decent damage but still. With minimal tactics, you can easily best it.

For some reason their shop is miles away from the actual place. I don't get it.

There's three different shops in here and they all sell junk. This is a waste of time! I leave.

In this cave we get the first optional dragon boss! The easiest one, too, I'm pretty sure. He doesn't even have an entry in the Noticeable or Presitigious Victory logs.

But yeah, he's very unremarkable and doesn't even have a full 2000HP.

This is the only item in its lair too. Lame.

So, next we check out the famous Mod. Sci. Inst.

Half the NPCs here are Tall.

Buy a new menu wall from a lady...

And a couple items from another guy.

Also we get our IQ tested. The results are in the Dreambook and I'll show them at the end of the update. There's also an intelligence test for us the players but there's no benefit to doing it whatsoever so I did not bother because I hate that crap.

Randoms got a gun.

Also, the King is apparently bankrolling this operation, whose aim is to combine science fiction and fantasy in ways that have not been done or popular since pulp magazines. And Might and Magic. And Early D&D modules. Love that stuff personally.

We also set up a teleport point for here...

Random and Sarah pose for a camera!

More slams on Sarah's person!

And a guy tells us of a future sidequest.

In the last room we meet up with Vision who does not have much to say, nor do we have much to say to him.

R.I.P.

And we find out the king is funding some extremely stupid bullshit.

Yeah if I see a 6m wasp I definitely think wow is that a real wasp? Anyway, apparently the wasp is nearly ready to move.

We're done here for now, so let's end this update.

So there's a new option on everyones dreambook entry.

I expected Randoms, Sarah could have gone either way, since I do think she's sort of playing dumb for Randoms sake.

Unsurprising.

oh my god

Herasia is the smartest. Or would be if IQ meant all that much. But you know why Indy put this in here. Herasia is the smartest according to Indy.

Figures.
