Luninareph pointed out in the thread that most of the characters were "weirdly nasty to each other" and now I can't unsee it. They brought up Sloane and Sophia as an example.

: You haven't seen the alternative.

: Come on, you coulda busted us out of there if you needed to.

: Incredibly so.

This raises... so many questions. They kinda got awkwardly swept into Necromancer House, but I don't think the game ever addresses why they stick around. Now, I know this is kind of a Fire Emblem trope, but the way to handle this crap is not to discuss it. ESPECIALLY don't have Sophia and Sloane say this kind of crap in the capital of the mad king with who knows how many spies.

: I don't know. I'm certainly not planning to get us wrapped up in any king's war. But this is an interesting bunch-- entertaining, for now at least.

Hey, did I tell you about my one personality trait?

It's admittedly not as bad as Sloane's crit quote being "Too bad. You're SOOO Cute" or her "My hero" whenever an adjacent unit gets a kill.

: He hasn't made a bad one yet!

DID I MENTION I HAVE A FERRET? FERRET! BUTTER!

: It all worked out for the best and couldn't be any better!

: We got lucky. If those player characters hadn't come along we might have had to be some shitty reference in ATOM RPG.

: Oh come on, I know you could have broken us out with your magic.

: Probably draw a lot of attention. And set two forest fires.

: I guess we did get lucky. How much longer are we staying in this army anyways? I'm going to talk loudly about going to Aramor in the capital of the mad king.

: I, too, will speak loudly of desertion but concede that these people are entertaining because they all have one note personalities. Unlike us, of course.

: Did I mention I have a ferret?

: BUTTER!!!!!
