There are only two supports here as we approach the end of this diarrhea.

I apologize for the crapton of screenshots but these two are very expressive.

This game doesn't deserve the effort of extra portraits.

: I'm too old to let her dictate my life, Bianca. Besides, let's not get ahead of ourselves here. All I said is for you to come back with me.

: Then it's settled, you're coming with me. Life is too short, Bianca. You know that as well as I do after all this.

: In the immortal words of Borat Sagdiyev, I like you, do you like me?

: Yes! You are number one deserter captain in all of Delia! Want to come back to Aramor and bang?

: Yes! Phew!

: Now that we've got that out of the way, let's talk about boring ass backstory shit!

Remember, Wow Man felt bad for Empyrean because they were both SUPA POWERFUL or whatever.

: You feel connected to him, don't you?

This would make a lot more sense if those two had interacted literally ever.

: In a sense, I do. He is a relic of an older age, someone born to powers greater than any mortal should need to control.

: That his go so far beyond my own is...

: He has not always held it in check.

Maeve what the hell are you talking about? He's literally done nothing this entire fucking game!

This is just lazy. We've never seen him do anything except when Irving fucked up his ritual and it killed a bunch of people.

It's ok! The closest equivalent to this garbage I can think of is being able to launch a nuclear weapon, and there are so many people involved in getting there it's entirely a nonsensical comparison.

Of course, Irving and co have done all this crap too.

For bonus points this will immediately be proven false next update

: And he resented them for it.

: Oh no. It was Empyrean after all. I still feel bad for him though. Can you imagine being a super smart nerd and picked on for it - uh, I mean being born a really powerful wizard so that no one could teach you? That would be tragic!

: He is still a bad man who maybe did some of the many crimes we DEFINITELY did!

: Still, it's really bad. Like, super bad. It's kind of like the popular conception of the bullied nerd as school shooter, but like, in a shitty fantasy game. Imagine being so good at magic that no one could teach you?

: Do you think the player is going to be offended that we've spent 26 chapters and this is the first anyone's so much as speculated on the villain's motivation?

: Don't be silly, Maeve. If the player's gotten to this point they'll tolerate any amount of idiotic slop we'll throw at them! They didn't quit after Irving's fucky wucky, why would they quit now?
