Okay, first thing I find in this update is... another Go Mode item? You better believe I'm buying this one!

Since that was the only item I can get from Aquaria until I thaw it, off to the nearest dungeon!

This is an incredibly handy bomb farm! Might as well top up on them so I don't have to worry about running out of Grenades for the rest of the seed, right?

Conveniently, this also happens to be where you get Phoebe's item.

Which happens to be a pretty handy upgrade: +6 defense plus Water resistance and Poison immunity. Getting pretty heavily geared up by now, aren't I?

How rude!

Who wants calamari?

After what I've been through to get here, you're nothing to worry about.

...I think he took offense to that.

Not that he can do much about it. Sure, he's doing a lot more damage than I expected (must've gotten a ridiculously high roll on attack power), but he doesn't have the durability to keep up.

Especially when I can just do this whenever I want.

Another Go Mode item for the pile.

At least the Charm Claw served a purpose here: I needed to climb a couple walls to get to Squidite for this. And yes, that's a pretty ridiculous array of status ailments it can inflict: Paralyze, Sleep, Confuse, Poison, and Blind were already on Charm Claw, in case you forget, and this adds Silence and Petrify. Don't really expect that one to happen very often, but when it does that's an instant death on whatever poor sap I'm attacking at the time.

Nothing left there, so off to the next one!

For which I only need to do a quick block puzzle before I reach the boss. Easy check.

Crabs aren't terribly intimidating to look at, but you never know- he might've rolled up.

...I can never tell whether these things are foaming at the mouth or if I just broke their faces off.

And I skipped his last sprite because apparently he was just a weakling. Oh well, at least I get a spell! One that might hypothetically even be useful around here!

Next!

Y'know how I said swords were required to trigger switches in the last dungeon? This is what they look like. Yes, this tileset shows up over there too.

Incidentally, the Mirror I got from Flamerus Rex is supposed to reveal the enemies here, but for some reason it seems to have disappeared. Weird.

Anyway, after stumbling my way through the inexplicably-invisible enemies (and running away when I run into them), I make my way over here to get Life!

By the way, you know how I mentioned that some particularly annoying dungeons got changed to be less annoying? This is one of them: The first floor is a maze, and the randomizer adds some extra paths so you can just skip it.

Don't worry, I'll grab that chest over there on my way out.

CANNONBALL!

...Water region is ridiculous this seed. I need this too.

Some people make that path complicated by actually trying to walk. Me, I just hold the Jump button.

A jolly happy soul he is not.

So I melt him.

And melt him.

And melt him some more. In case you hadn't noticed, this is the regional boss.

Hopefully this doesn't disappear on me too. That'd make this seed literally impossible to complete.

Told ya I'd get this on my way out.

Surprisingly low attack power for the Tier 3 Axe. My sword has more attack power.

Anyway, that's pretty much everything I can do over in the Water region, so I pick Reuben back up and head off to do his check.

And pick this useless thing up on the way.

Incidentally, the randomizer tweaked this location a bit so the buckets don't work if you don't have a claw-type weapon, which is why I didn't come here earlier.

Anyway, I just need to smash this guy real quick and I can do Reuben's check.

He wouldn't be so dangerous if he didn't keep getting crits on his physical attacks.

Sorry, buddy, you don't have a lamp to hide in.

Unlocks another check back where I first got Phoebe, and having Mega Grenades here also means I unlock one in Fireburg.

I took a second to swap to Tristam, because Reuben happens to be the one partner who doesn't move when he levels up. Anyway, I've picked him back up, and... his dad gives nothing of interest.

This is a very good reason to upgrade Reuben all on its own, though.

Gonna mop up the rest of this region next time before heading off to the Wind region.
