It only just now occurred to me that I'm probably not supposed to come here without some kind of explosives. Not letting that stop me, but still.

Yes, I got two of these in the same room. That's what happens when you drop like 40 of them into the item pool.

Well, it's not remotely what I was looking for, but it's still a nice upgrade, on the rare occasions that I need to use a physical attack.

Heading into the Wintry Temple (just south of where the Ice Pyramid is in vanilla) to scout out what's here; turns out I'm gonna want the Gemini Crest so I can get at those boxes. The laws of probability dictate that they're probably only Sky Fragments, but still- there's still a chance!

Since I'm here, might as well investigate this battlefield that replaced Aquaria... and hope it isn't another instakill battlefield like the Windia one.

Well, this seems manageable as long as they show up alone. They seem to have a grudge against Tristam, though; they blew him up 2/3 times.

Useless.

After a quick side trip to get Phoebe back, I'm off to raid this place! Probably only gonna get her character item, but oh well- that's enough justification to go here.

Oh hey, I need that. Thanks!

And I get another fragment while climbing down the wall to check the left side of the room. Which, naturally, turns out to just be a brown box.

Since I don't find anything there, off to Fireburg to pester Tristam for the right to pester Kaeli.

The local hermit has the other claw, which I don't need.

The item shop, on the other hand, is a jackpot.

After all, the Mega Grenade lets me full-clear the Wintry Cave and Bone Dungeon.

As I said, there're a lot of these. Don't remember offhand how many I actually need, though.

More proof of how many of these there are: Both of these were fragments.

Yes, even the bosses self-destruct. The ones that show up alone are free checks, but for the ones with minions my primary objective is to kill the minions before they can explode too.

Oh, you're wondering what he dropped? It was just a brown box; nothing interesting.

I briefly recruit Kaeli before discovering that Level Forest is in the part of the Water region that's completely inaccessible until you thaw it, so I grab Reuben instead for a different character check.

Plus, y'know, any other items that may be in here.

Another one.

Well, that's not terribly useful.

Okay, NOW I can go check Kaeli. Honestly, though, I was kind of expecting this to be the OTHER bomb, just for maximum "screw you."

I picked up Kaeli before remembering that I still need to thaw Aquaria, which is over where Mt. Gale should be. Since I'm already here, I pester Spencer for... Exit! Nice, I actually have enough game left to benefit from this! Now I just need to remember to use it... not something I'm known for, to be honest.

Aero on the bottom left...

...Libra on the old man...

...Cure in the nearby chest...

...a fragment in the top right...

...and Thunder from a glitched version of Kaeli's scene. I don't think you were intended to do everything here in one trip.

After yet another trip back to Foresta to heal Kaeli, I head into the backdoor of Focus Tower for more useless crap.

I'll clear out that battlefield real quick, then do the basin.

I'm getting an awful lot of magic here, aren't I?

And fragments. Can't forget them.

And once again, the boss drops a brown box. Oh well, off to do some volcano climbing!

I'm pretty sure I've found half the spells in the game just in this one update...

And there's the Mirror.

Which, thankfully, also exists. Also works as an update on how many fragments I've gotten so far; I didn't know either, honestly.

Medusa has the other key. She blew Kaeli up for 6500-ish, but at least I got her minions before they could get me!

One more fragment for the road.

Since I'm in the area anyway, might as well open this box... for yet another spell.

And pick up a new helmet from the locked chest in Focus Tower, too.

I was about to call it an update, but then I realized that I can get to this blue battlefield here.

Oh ha ha, very funny. Nobody uses those EVER. I bet there're some people who don't even know what they do!

Since I was picking Reuben 2 up anyway, I picked this up, too. This makes... what, 8 spells learned in this one update?!

I really should stop here, though; I'll deal with that battlefield over there first thing next update, I promise.
