Okay, another quick grinding session (I'm OCD- if I have a subweapon and an opportunity to level it I will level it) and a quick side-trip to pick up another Corsage for Charlotte later, time to go somewhere new.

Pretty good helmet for Jonathan here.

Don't expect to have any occasion to use this, though.

Incidentally, this room is only accessible via a room swarming with Wyverns; I needed to pass through it to unlock the front door, too. They're more annoying than dangerous right now, though; they keep interrupting Charlotte's spells (the only way to deal with them quickly), knock me around when I jump to try to Valman-whip them, but only do 1 damage per hit.

Broke the tip of that platform off for this.

There's also a Yorick here; it surprised me when a random skull I stepped on started chewing on my foot, but this guy explains it. His drops are... well, the food could be useful, at least?

The next room really freaks me out, because I run into a Cave Troll; I have bad memories about fighting them in the bonus area in vanilla. The fact that they do like 180 damage to me here doesn't make that trauma any less severe...

Oh, the drops? Well, I doubt I'll need to worry about MP anytime soon, at least. Not too impressed with the Thief Ring, though, but I equip it anyway since it's that or the Master Ring. I'll be skipping through that room if at all possible next time, though.

There aren't enough stat boosters in the world to justify fighting a Cave Troll.

A Malachi drops this, after a bit of convincing. It's... novel, for a Castlevania game, but sadly Rocket Punch does not compare to Valman-whip.

A Maneating Plant drops these. Pasta seems useful, at least?

After that debacle with the Cave Troll, I desperately need this.

Vapula (lion with wings thing) drops this crap.

Well, I accidentally nuked myself with a Buster Armor's missile, but I got a new subweapon out of it.

A Spin Devil drops a Platinum Chain that completely obsoletes my Engagement Ring, and a nearby Slogra gives... crap.

And now I never need to be in the same room as that Cave Troll again!

...which does not guarantee that there won't be more showing up later...

After taking the time to go back and restock on starfish (and, yes, grind up the Ricochet Rock), I move on a bit and come across a Killer Clown. The Hat was easy enough, but Aura Blast was literally a 3% drop rate in Charlotte's luck gear.

On the bright side, there was also a Ghoul in the room, so I could farm up some more food while I was at it.

Ah-HA! There's my progression here, hidden in a breakable ledge literally one room later! ...Hiding progression behind a monster as strong as a Cave Troll is a dick move, randomizer.

Another one? What, are all the paintings chained together in this seed? ...Little too early to tell; this is only the second one I've found.

Quick pre-boss save, and then off to fight a boss!

It's The Creature. Yes, that's its in-game name. It hits really hard and has literally 4000 HP, but not too bad, really. Gonna need to re-restock on starfish after that, but didn't scare me like the Troll did.

Well, this would explain why I got my ass kicked so hard here- this is supposed to be one of the last pictures you enter, but it's the first one I found.

Anyone wanna bet on how likely it is for the other two portraits to be similarly out-of-place?

Picked this one because it happened to be in the same room as the starfish farm. At first glance... I'm guessing this is the second desert stage. Can't make any guarantees, though; it's been too long since I played this, and I could never tell the deserts apart anyway until I hit the bosses.

Pretty uneventful so far. Just a Flame Demon with another subweapon from another mode.

...I didn't realize Mandragoras could drop stuff.

Always welcome.

And another.

Also HP.

Not interested in this, though. Not only is it weaker than my Valman-whip, it's not a Valman-whip either.

I'll continue raiding this pyramid next time. That first picture took a lot out of me!
