Yes, that dying Lesser Demon there dropped this spell. If it was more MP-efficient I could use this to supplement my food stores; as is, I'll just need to rely on my Healing Mail as usual.

Spare Richter Grand Cross at the end of this hallway; next direction to go is down.

First off though: Drops. Killer Bees drop some weak food and extra Shogun Helmets (which I started with and thus won't bother with the stats). I still stock up though; waste not, want not, after all.

Strong armor at the top of the boulder bowling trap room, but that "slows you down" thing kills it. Mobility is key in Castlevania, after all, as proven by how badly Legion kicked my ass.

Then, just because I can, I go through a little hole at the bottom of the room for an MP boost.

New music and new subweapon from Treants.

Some food in a dead-end again, guarded by a Ruler's Sword that drops excellent MP-restoration items.

And subpar weapons, but I'm not obligated to use them.

Tanjellies (almost indistinguishable from normal Slimes) drop a bad accessory that's been obsolete since the first time I ran into normal Slimes.

On the one hand: These guys are OP. On the other: They don't drop anything this seed, so I don't have any reason to bother with them. (The same can be said of Amducias, for the record.)

Fortunately, owling and sticking to the ceiling prevents these bastards from aggro'ing. Makes avoiding them a lot easier.

After sneaking by that threat, I find a HP boost, another record...

...and even more bad armor lying around.

The local Ripper (knife-throwing Flea Men) drops a Valman-Final Sword, though, so it's not all useless gear! Too bad Jonathan can't use it...

They also drop a buff spell, which is... marginally less useless than usual thanks to the new Valman-sword, but still inferior to attack spells.

(Also, note to self: Red Axe Armor here, Red Skeleton on the surface, for whenever I get the ability to kill regenerating monsters.)

Bit further up, in a very similar room to the one I was just in, I find this game's equivalent of the Stopwatch (nerfed by having a cast time).

...That's a peculiar drop from Ghost Dancers. Not a terribly useful one, though.

Sweets.

Here we go, the best subweapon grinding room in the seed! That Skeleton Farmer there gives 18 subweapon experience per kill, and the Unes and Mandragoras he throws out hit the ceiling so they can't spawn. In other words, an easy target who is also extremely lucrative to kill.

Also, he drops a new spell to practice on him...

...and a weapon that I could hypothetically use if I wanted to trade raw damage for range. Sadly, it's a bit too big of a drop to be worthwhile even with the range. Maybe if it was a Valman-spear, but as-is...

Unfortunately, subweapon grinding is extremely MP intensive, so I'm forced to move on before mastering anything.

This Wakwak Tree drops yet another subpar weapon...

...and another card.

Also, it turns out there's another Ruler's Sword on the next screen (conveniently easy to kill using Dark Rift), so that makes this grind spot even better because there's a convenient recharge method nearby!

Finally, a true double-jump!

Oh, and there's a particularly bad weapon here too.

Between the many levels I picked up grinding on the Farmers and my loadout being a hard counter to him (and, of course, me remembering the "summon partner" mechanic exists to double-team him), Mummy Man drops like a rock.

For the record: Mummy Man rolled weaknesses to Strike (Jonathan's Long Sword, lest you forget, is Strike/Fire), Ice, and Darkness (both of which are inflicted by Dark Rift), and the only resistance he got was, ironically, Holy.

MP boost behind him.

That portrait's done, and, as I said before, I don't want to go into a portrait without the ability to actually clear it, so I'm off to explore the castle itself some more. And no, I can't go to Burnt Paradise yet.

I don't plan to use this, because it'd only give me a massive case of rust poisoning.

New team attack just before Behemoth.

Who is, if anything, even more poorly-suited to fighting me than Mummy Man was, due to sharing most of his weaknesses and having much lower stats (it died pretty much instantly, for the record).

That said, I should probably hold off on the actual exploration so I actually have a new update to tell you about it in.

Oh, and for the record, I took the opportunity to top off the consumables I used back on Legion; needed to look up where I got Foie Gras (conveniently in the same room the Ticket takes me to), but I got the Corn Soup on my way out of Fools, and the Mushroom was more a matter of opportunity: I didn't plan to get it yet, but I ran into an Invisible Man in the Behemoth chase room.
