Checking behind Dmitrii's boss room now. This is... technically an improvement over the Hatchet, I guess, but not good enough to use.

Speaking of that guy's boss room, there's a Quetzalcoatl there now; it drops... do floating spiky balls count as familiars? And on a related note, do they count as plants?

Also, Malphas is here. He's weak, and only gives the power of backstabbing.

Anyone have an explanation for how the hell a vacuum cleaner wound up all the way up here?

...This is intriguing. And extremely powerful. And, against all odds, more-or-less the right element.

This, on the other hand, is garbage.

Now that I've cleared the Chapel out, might as well head back to the Garden real quick to finish mapping things out.

This "armor" does literally nothing, for the record. 0 in every stat.

Since I'm in the area, drop in here to unlock the true ending.

Oh, and that guy I just killed is back already. That didn't take long.

Next stop: The Guest House. Gotta build up power to challenge the last boss.

Also: As has been pointed out in-thread, I don't technically need these clippings to get the respective rewards, but since I don't have the real prerequisites yet that's kind of a moot point; saying "I need X to do anything with this" is more acknowledging that I know what the hints refer to but I can't actually solve the riddle yet.

Issue 4, for the record, is just telling you that there is no fourth UMA to hunt; given Japanese numerological superstitions I suspect this is due to the reporter getting killed.

Anyway, there are demonic maids to murder here; they give me the power of being an incredibly unpicky eater. I don't think I want to think about what that says about them.

You don't want Soma dealing cards for your poker games. You'd probably wind up with them embedded in your skull.

On the bright side, this'll let me check the soul wall in the Chapel.

Devils are more generous with their gifts of power in this seed, in a way: Apparently less of it in one go, but it doesn't actually cost anything to use beyond the time it takes to farm souls. (Incidentally, on the topic of Devils, their souls apparently give a lot more power than I implied when I got them, but they're also extremely self-destructive in the hands of an unskilled player like myself.)

Liliths, on the other hand, just make me immune to poison. Not very useful.

Mina mailed me a newspaper clipping. Umm... thanks?

I'd say I'm not eating this, but... Ghoul soul.

Sitting in this chair for a bit spawns a rocket launcher.

Oh, and the Waiter Skeletons drop Guillotiner souls...

...a katana...

...and weak armor.

...Dare I ask how they managed to make a sword heavy enough to need two hands at this size, while still making it this weak?

Killer Dolls are apparently animated by Mini Devils in this seed.

They drop Maces.

And these two, in particular, are guarding another Great Sword (aka SWORD CANNON).

Apparently the Joker's been eating too much fish. Or maybe that's actually a bundle of fish packed into a clown suit. Don't be fooled by the power; this soul's useless because you can only use it while swimming.

Ugh, this puzzle... Anyway, the spear's nothing to write home about.

I hate room tetris. Finagling my way into the top-right corner doesn't even give me anything good.

Not even the mirror gives anything worthwhile.

Durandal's in Room 12.

Werewolf soul in Room 1.

Consumable in Room 9.

And finally, a wimpy punch weapon in Room 5. Finally!

That room sapped my motivation. I'll clear the rest of the Guest House out next time.
