This next one is easy and goes over what I’ve been preaching this entire LP so far.
You’ve got Schwartz, Marbet in a Gun-EZ, and an Invader in water. Move Marbet next to Schwartz to get his support attack, but before you choose an attack, look at the terrain ranks on the weapons. One has a C in water while the other has a dash. Do not use the stronger attack because, due to it being a beam weapon and a - in water, it will only deal 0 damage. This is to show that even if an attack is weaker, it might deal more damage due to terrain. Then just have Schwartz fire a few missiles and you’ve won.


Your prize is 5k money and another Super Repair Kit.


For this intermission, I upgrade the Zeta’s EN by 8 stages. Speaking of which, let’s talk about our new units.


[MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam]
Full disclosure, I love Zeta Gundam. Both the mobile suit and the TV/Movie series. The Zeta in this game is decent. It can transform for added mobility and movement, though for fighting you’ll want to be in its MS form. The Zeta’s biggest weakness is that its best attacks, the Hyper Beam Saber and Waverider Crash, have the first skill requirements that we’ve encountered. In order to use them, not only do you need the 120/130 will and 30/20 EN, but the pilot needs to have Newtype at level 5. No one of our Newtype pilots have it at this point, so they’ll be unavailable until much later. Besides that, it has S ranks in the terrains that matter and has decent stats for the moment.

Kamille is a great pilot who I will be using for the entire game. However Kamille’s stats skew towards shooting and the Zeta is a more melee focused MS (once its pilot gets NT5 though). He’ll find great success in the multitude of funnel-based mobile suits. Right now, he’s fine in the Zeta.


[MSA-005 Methuss]
The Methuss is usually the support unit in most SRW games. It comes with a repair module which will help keep your units alive. Its default pilot, Fa, learns many great support spirits. If it wasn’t for the fact that it’ll get outclassed soon, I would recommend always deploying it. Also it can transform and since it shouldn't be fighting, keep it in its MA form for its increased mobility and movement.

Super Robot Wars D - SEVENTH MOON

We got some new units~


[VF-17S Nightmare]
Ah the Valkyries. “Veritech” if you will (I won’t). They’re small, fast, agile, and made out of cardboard. If they get hit, they will probably explode. Their key feature is their ability to transform into three different modes. Fighter mode is what you’ll be in the most often as it sports the highest mobility and movement. The Battroid mode has its finisher “All Out Attack” and can take better advantage of ground terrain. It also has the most available weapons. Gerwalk mode sits in between, being on the ground for terrain, higher mobility than Battroid, but fewer weapons. It also has a B rank in space which is yucky. At least Battroid has an A in space… Fighter has S in both Sky and Space.
TL;DR Fighter for space and movement. Gerwalk for ground and mobility. Battleroid for ground and firepower.


[VF-17D Nightmare]
What I said about the VF-17S applies here. It has the same stats and weaponry. Just think of the S version as the “Victory Hexa” version.

The pilots though… Gamlin is worth using for the rest of the game. I wouldn’t touch Kinryu or Docker for reasons that will become apparent.



[VF-19 “Fire” Valkyrie Custom]
Say hello to the bard, the most useful unit in the game. Basara will sing and you will like it (you seriously will). It can't hurt enemies in any way since it has no weapons. What it has are songs and each one has very beneficial effects. Each song costs EN to sing, so increasing that stat means more songs.
Planet Dance increases a unit’s hit and evasion by 5% for the rest of the map.
Totsugeki Love Heart increases a unit’s will by 3.
Holy Lonely Light increases a unit’s mobility and defense by 5 points for the rest of the map.
Power to the Dream increases a pilot’s melee and shooting stats by 5 for the rest of the map (though this one requires 110 will to sing).
Since its own firepower doesn’t matter, there is pretty much no reason to take it out of Fighter form. Except for gaining EN from terrain in Gerwalk. These songs stack so abuse them, but expect to hear Totsugeki Love Heart a lot, especially for what I’m planning. He regains some EN every turn so you won’t get a dry throat easily.


[Battle 7]
Say hello to, I want to say, the best battleship in the game. It has firepower. It has a pinpoint barrier for extra survivability. It has an excellent captain in Max, as well as multiple subpilots for support skills. If you know what a Macross-class vessel can do, then you know what’s in store for the future. It can’t transform yet though.

SECRET ALERT
You’ll want to feed at least 6 kills to Gamlin over this and the next stage. To get the full secret, he’ll need a body count of 10. Keep that in mind.


Our forces are split in two. Macross to the north east and Neo Zeon to the south. Gamlin needs the kills, so have him advance by himself. With the help of Focus, the enemies can’t hit him. Meanwhile our mobile suits to the south will advance north east and the two forces should meet in the middle to take on the boss.

That’s why you shouldn’t use him.

No enemy reinforcements this map, so it’s just cleanup. Gigil’s forces do feature two powerful and accurate battleships. Just chip them down 2-3k damage at a time. Again, don’t be afraid to hide a unit in the Ra Cailum or Battle 7 if they’re either out of ammo, EN, or close to dying.

Gigil himself should not be underestimated. His mech only has 5k HP, but he has a lot of defense. He also sports a Beam Coat to reduce the amount of damage from beam attacks, which is what mobile suits tend to use. Valkyries however love their missiles. Gigil also has the “Protodeviln” skill. His attacks sap the will out of anyone it hits. On the flip side, Basara can sing at him to deal massive damage. Of course, I forgot this fact while I was playing.

Thankfully, Gigil doesn’t run at low HP. Unfortunately, our only unit at the moment with Luck is Fa and she’s in no position to be fighting in a Methuss. You can probably work something out with Mercy (an enemy unit with lower skill will be left at 10hp instead of dying), but that’s too much effort for right now.

Just a side note, the character’s name can be spelt as both Gepelnitch and Geperuniti. I’m using the former since it’s more popular but the latter is “more official”. Don’t look up official romanizations of Macross names from their toys, trust me.
