For this intermission, I give both Mazin Bros upgrades to their EN and Armor. Also I swapped around Uso and Oliver’s units. Since Uso is a main character, I wanted him to get the unique head even though their units are literally identical otherwise.
We got our Mazin Support Squad to talk about before we can get started.
[Diana A]
Sayaka has good spirits but not a good robot. I guess as a repair bot it has more defense than the others, but it can’t fly and will lag behind your army when on the move.
[Venus A]
Jun has more combat oriented spirits than Sayaka, but comes in another repair bot. At least Venus can fly. Its stats are adequate and if you invest into it, it can serve as your main healer for the rest of the game. It also gets a combo attack with Diana, but your turns are usually better spent doing other things than attacking with either unit. If you want you could put Sayaka in Venus.
[Boss Borot]
Boss Borot is quite literally made of junk. Its best feature is that its repair cost when destroyed is 10. I guess you can buff its HP as much as possible, run him next to an enemy, and use Self Destruct (unit dies but deals unavoidable damage to all units adjacent to it equal to its HP). It can also resupply I guess. Boss however is actually a pretty good pilot. It is feasible to move him to another Mazinger unit, even one of the Mazin Bros, and be pretty good.
[Robot Jr.]
This is Shiro’s SRW debut and he’s given his Robot Jr from Great Mazinger. He’s not bad, but his robot is just another resupply bot. You could do worse than investing into Robot Jr. It does get a pretty funny combination attack with Borot I guess.
Last time, a recon mission goes awry and we recruit a helmet and a sword.
Earth Route Chapter 5: Stand Up in the Midst of War!

This is the first stage that involves a little strategy, at least in a little bit. Just get rid of these Zanscare mooks, but try to kill the last one on the player’s turn.

Now is when the stage gets a little hard. We still can’t let any BESPA goods touch the spaceship to the south, but they’re just as fast as us. If you kill the initial mooks on their turn, they’ll get an extra turn to swarm you which might make you lose the race to the spaceship. What we need to do is get our flying units to body block the objective and prevent BESPA from running it over with their motorcycles. Tetsuya is perfect for this since he can fly and has Accel (+3 movement for its next movement). Send Tetsuya and Koji to the south to defend the base while the grounded Gundams march west to intercept the stragglers.
The two bosses here, Duker and Renda, will stick next to each other whenever possible. They both also have support defense 1 which has one block any attack the other would take once. Not to mention that their bikes have insane mobility and will dodge almost every attack that’s not buffed by Focus or Aim (100% accuracy on all attacks until the next turn). Focus one down at a time.
