This Puzzle took me a bit to figure out without looking up the answer. The Zanscare mook has 2 relevant attacks, a 1-3 missile launcher and a 1-4 beam rifle. By moving the Jagd Doga into the water exactly 4 spaces away and attacking from there, the mook will be forced to use his beam rifle attack, dealing only 10 damage. Then Uso can follow up with a melee attack for the win.
For winning, we get 10k money and a +20 ranged skill part.
This intermission, I invest some upgrades into Wing Zero and Deathscythe as shown here. Epyon gets the beat coating from earlier since I probably won’t be using the Ra Cailum. Amuro also gets the +20 skill part.

This is the second part of the secret. If Gamlin only has 6 kills, he’ll only get the VF-1J. If he has 10 kills, you can choose either the VF-1J or the VF-11C. The underlined part in the earlier dialog is the part that changes depending if you got the 10 kills. I’ll show off both when the battle starts, but the “canon” choice for my run is the VF-11C.
These aren’t the coordinates specified by His Excellency Gepelnitch.

If you choose to find a machine for Gamlin, you have to complete this map in 6 turns. Without Gamlin, the time limit becomes 8. Seems it took Heero 2 minutes to find a suitable plane. Let’s take a look at both choices.
[VF-11C Full Armor Thunderbolt]
Would you believe it if I said that the Full Armor Thunderbolt here has the highest max defense in the game? Of course that’s with heavy investment, but it’s true. It beats out the heaviest of Super Robots by a mere 100. The full armor acts as a second health bar that you can also purge at will for a full HP and EN replenish. Also while it has the armor active, it can’t transform into a fighter or gerwalk. It also spawns in the FA form every time so make a note about that if you plan to use it.
[VF-1C Valkyrie]
This is Milia’s machine from the original SDF Macross. It’s out of date and has the lowest stats of any Valkyrie in the game. What it does have is, if you invest a lot of money into its weaponry, the strongest attacks of any Valkyrie. If you want to rep the original Macross series, go ahead and take it. Everything else said about the Valkyries earlier still applies.
Out of those two choices, the VF-11C is the more interesting to me. It might replace Gamlin’s Nightmare as his main mech. Haven’t decided yet.
Mayor Milia is just in a red colored VF-17 Nightmare. We don’t get to keep it anyway.
This map is harder than it looks. Varauta mooks have extremely high mobility, so your chances to hit are usually around 50-70% unboosted. You also have to go across the entire map in 6/8 turns, punch a hole in their final defensive line, and get any unit to the Fold Reactor without letting any of your units die. That last part is the brutal part. I cleared this map on the final turn, with no SP left and most of my units under 10% HP. You basically need to use Accel on whoever you can (Gamlin mostly) every turn or you’ll be just shy. If you went the Full Armor VF-11C route like me, you can purge its armor to fully restore your HP and then fly away in fighter form plus Accel.
Once you get any unit onto the Fold Generator…

[Battle 7 (Assault Mode)]
Battle 7 can now henshin into its humanoid form! It has less mobility (which doesn’t really matter), more armor, and more weaponry. The ship form does have more movement, so really the plan is to move into position, transform, then blast everything to kingdom come. It does chug EN like its water since the Macross Cannon uses 100 EN for both MAP and single target versions. The extra armor also helps with blocking entire attacks with its pinpoint barrier. Out of the battleships in this game, the Battle 7 is probably the best for this reason.
