For this map, we must prevent the two enemy ships from entering the atmosphere. Transform all the units and use Accel on Amuro to move your units into the positions in the second image. Defend with Amuro on both attacks and the map is yours. The enemy will prioritize attacking him and the Re-GZ’s purge gimmick will let him survive.

Victory nets you 10k money and a Large Magazine part (2x ammo for all ammo based attacks).

As we descend to the surface, Char, Max, and Treize have more important things to do in space. At least they leave behind their mobile suits for our usage. This is what I did this intermission:

Last time, we hired a clown to follow us around.

Chapter 10: Its Name is “Ruin”
Chapter 11 if you chose the Earth route

[Neo Zeon Meeting Room]
To the surface?
Yes. Dealing with Shin Dragon is taking more time than expected. The Tower’s Jinn Geneham wants THE BOYS to head down there.
Yeah, I heard they were beaten pretty badly.
But…
According to the League Militaire’s Dr. Shikishima, Shin Dragon is continuously evolving. As a result, the Invaders are becoming stronger. We can’t just leave them alone. So after we find Shin Dragon next, you’re going to rush there, break through the Invaders’ defensive line, and destroy Shin Dragon once and for all.
I see… That sounds like something we can do.
What about the situation up here?
Up here we have OZ’s space forces, Neo Zeon’s forces, and Commander Jenius’ fleet. I don’t think we’ll be defeated anytime soon. It would be different if Gishin and Varauta invaded at the same time, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. We may suffer some damages, but the threat of Shin Dragon increases every day.
Very well. THE BOYS will descend to the planet. I’ll talk to Commander Max myself.
We should rendezvous with the Tower, right?
Exactly. Thank you in advance.

[Ra Cailum, Officer’s Dining Room]
Let me introduce my friend, Trowa Barton. He fought alongside us before, but now he’s lost his memory. I’ve asked him to come aboard to help with recovering that memory.
It’s as he said. Pleasure to meet you.
Trowa, I’m glad you’re alive… Are you alright?
Do you know me too?
Not as much as Quatre or the other Gundam Pilots.
…I see.
Are you sure you’ve lost your memory?
Yeah… It seems to be the case.
You’re not planning on sending this guy onto the battlefield, are you?
I wouldn’t go that far. But I believe that this kind of atmosphere will help him recover.
That’s fine then. Trowa would just be a sitting duck. Even if he wanted it, he shouldn’t return to combat.
…I guess so.
Wufei…

We’re descending to Earth…
(Four…? Yes, you’re right. It’s something that has to be done.)
Kamille…
Excuse me, do you happen to know anything about Hangerg Ewin?
Never heard of him.
…Sorry, but neither have I.
Hangerg was one of the founders of the League Militaire. Perhaps…
You know him?
No. I just think I heard that name in Granada before the incident. It could have been from a one day joint military exercise that didn’t include us.
Is it possible to confirm that?
Ah… Sorry. I can’t really help right now.
Is that so…
Don’t get so depressed. You came to space to look for him after all. Eventually you’ll find someone who knows something.
He’s right, Uso. But right now the priority is Shin Dragon. I heard things got crazy down there.
Yeah… The robot army that the League Militaire rebuilt was completely destroyed again.
Shin Dragon… Damn.
…Kei.
I know. But if he shows up again, I’ll…
Kei… Your face is scary.
Well, she has her reasons.

[Ra Cailum Hangar]
Brother, this is the first time you’ve returned to Earth.
Yeah, you’re right… I’ve been in Space ever since the incident.
It’s gotten a lot harder since then. Everyone is trying their best to survive…

[Ra Cailum Bridge]
Descent complete.
Okay, hurry up and check all parts of the ship.
Thank goodness we’ve made it to the surface.
Noin, can you confirm the Tower’s location? We need to get in touch.
Yes. Working on it.
The Tower’s Jinn Geneham… I heard there are several Jinn Genehams out there.
Correct. The Tower’s Jinn Geneham is a former Getter Pilot named Hayato Jin.
Hmm…

That’s right. I want you to hurry up to where we are.
(Speaking via monitor of course)
Any news on Shin Dragon?
We don’t know, but it will appear again.
[Beeps]
Oh… This is…
What is it, Beltorchika?
Captain, this code…
It’s a distress signal from the old United Nations. Where is it coming from?
It’s from… New York.
New York? But that place is…
Yes. It’s heavily contaminated by Getter Rays and turned into a ruin.
How strange…
Hayato, what do you think? You’re headed that way anyway, right? Let’s do it.
…Alright, go check it out. We’ll head to North America in the meantime. However there’s a strong Getter Ray reaction in the area. Please be careful.
Roger. We’ll be headed to New York now.

We’ll be entering New York City momentarily.
The signal is still going.
Yes. It’s almost in the center of the city.
…Over there…
Invaders…
Damn. Are there really that many Invaders on Earth?
What should we do?
Regardless, we have to eliminate the Invaders. We don’t have a choice but to attack.
(...I have a bad feeling about this.)

[Ra Cailum, Gun Room]
To all pilots, numerous Invaders have appeared. Please deploy immediately.
Invaders already!
…Invaders, huh?
You guys are inexperienced in fighting Invaders. Be careful. They can possess humans.
I know.
Alright then, let’s go and kick their asses.
Commander, what about Takeru?
What about him? We can’t work with someone who might be an alien spy.
Akira, how can you say that about him!!
…Takeru can wait. The four of us will go.
Roger!
Trowa, stay in your room!
…Alright.

Gou, Gai!
CHAAAAAAANGE GETEEEEEEERRRRRR ONE!!
Uuuuooooooo!!
[They combine]

Shin Getter has launched.
Those guys…
Good. Let’s check the source of that signal.

You got 12 deployment slots.

The distress signal is coming from here. Gou, let me off!
Is anyone here? Anyone! Weird, there’s no one here.
…Hey Kei!
Huh… Ah, they’re dead…?
Kei, wait, don’t get closer. It’s suspicious!
Eh!?
I can tell he’s been dead for a long time. There’s no way a dead body could send out a distress signal.
Now that you mention it… Ah!
…Uoooooooo.
They’re… Invaders!?
GUOOOOOOOO!!
Kei, book it! Gou, help us!

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Professor…!
You… YOU!! UWAAAAAAA! I’LL KILL YOU!!
Captain, this was a trap!
What!?
Hahahahaha!! Even though there’s more of you, you’re all as stupid as ever. If you stayed in space, I would have overlooked your actions. It’s time for you worms to die! Gather here, my brethren!

There’s more Metal Beasts…
Damn. There’s too many…
Hahahahah! Farewell, gentlemen!
[Saotome leaves]
Dammit… Wait!! Goddammiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttt!!

First, Shin Getter needs to move to safety. Thankfully there’s a river right there and an underutilized Shin Getter 3 with extra defense. Now the main force can start moving westward. The goal right now is to defeat all enemies and the ones near where Saotome gloated won't move until you get into their range. You’ll have to cross the river regardless and you’ll want to for what happens later. Stick to your training and watch out for the Metal Beasts since they’re overall stronger and have HP regen.

When all the Invaders are defeated…

Ugh, they’re still coming. All units, eliminate the enemy!
Oh crap… Captain, wait. They’re…
Woah, what’s that? It has a bunch of human faces on it!
What the… They were absorbed alive!?
The hell!?
That… horrible…
I can’t… I can’t attack them.

You have to attack it. Destroy it.
Please wait! Those people are still alive inside it!
What the hell…
What else can we do!
Somehow… Somehow those people…

Guh!
Gou, you can’t! Stop it!
At this rate…

That’s a…
What’s with him…
A black… Getter Robo…?
Eh… What!?

Kyaaaa!!
Ugh… S-stop it!!
…All those people…
…That’s…

That’s horrible… How could you…
Ugh…
Dammit. What is this disgust I feel?
Gyunei…?

Stop it!!

No… I feel so many people!? I hate this! I’m freaking out!
Why… Why did you do that!? Those people were still alive inside of it!
It’s too horrible…
There must have been something you could have done! Say something!

The Black Getter leaves the map.
Dammit… DAMMIT!!
Who was that guy…
(Was it… No, there’s no way. It couldn’t be him.)
Regardless, it looks like it’s over.
Oh right… Everyone, please come back.
(!? What? Something’s coming! Something dangerous is coming!)
Captain!
What the hell is that?

SRW D - Devastator
Was it the cries of those humans’ anguish that called me?
Is that… Is it one of them?
Ah… Tetsuya, it’s not the same guy, but it’s one of them.
What, is that an enemy?
Yes. That’s one of the “Ruina”.
He’s one of them…?
I feel their hatred. I feel your hatred. The anger. The pain. The sorrow. And the fear. We use everything, even the screams of death, as our nourishment.
You’re… Ignis’s friend, aren’t you?!
My name is Aquila. I see, so you’re the ones who defeated Ignis. Interesting.
They’re the ones who sealed the Earth… Aquila, who are you? What is your purpose?
…”Ruin”.
What do you mean?
Our name means “Ruin”. We are the ones who bring about ultimate destruction and despair to everything.
(...They’re…!?)
(I wonder… I have a really bad feeling about this…)
(Dammit, something’s wrong with my mech. What the hell is going on?)
He’s saying things that don’t make any sense! Let’s crush every one of them!
Yeah. As long as we’re here, we won’t let you do whatever you want!
That will… It’s what humans rely on for their strength. In that case, I’ll smash it to pieces.
All units, intercept them!

Ruina is back, spawned right where we started the map. Aquila, the Wind based Ruina, is dangerous like how Ignis was; he has a MAP attack that he can and will use. Try to save your SP for defensive spirits and stay out of his cardinal directions with more than one unit. He has his own Propellent Tank so if he runs low on EN, he will use it. You’ll start seeing bosses with consumable parts from now on. My best advice is to try and keep the battlefield over the river, for a reason you’ll see shortly.

Speaking of which, after one turn…

SRW D - Ruler of Space! Grendizer
Daisuke, are you sure?
Yes… It must be them.
Captain, we have a communication from an unidentified aircraft.
Are you THE BOYS?
We are. Who’s asking?
I am Duke Fleed. I heard from Dr. Earl of Helios that you’re fighting the Gishin Interstellar Empire. I came to join you.
Dr. Earl? You’re on our side?
Correct.
We’re in combat right now.
Let’s fight together.
…Alright. Looking forward to it.
That voice… Is that Daisuke?
You’re… Koji?
I knew it, it’s Daisuke. Why are you dressed like that and piloting that robot?
Koji, we’ll talk later.
Right, fair enough.

[Grendizer]
Armor and EN is the name of the game when dealing with Grendy. He’s thicker than the Mazin Bros but lacks their Mazin Power ability so he’ll never deal as much damage when that activates. He can also transform into the Spazer for increased movement at the cost of fewer attacks and slightly lower armor. That S in Sky does look tempting though. Lastly, Grendizer can combine with the different Spazers such as…

[Marine Spazer]
For aquatic combat. It uh…isn’t as useful as the other Spazers you get later. S-SA terrain ranks is interesting, but you’ll want to combine it into…

[Grendizer MS]
It’s an upgrade if you want to fight underwater and it gives Grendizer a second pilot for spirits. That’s the most I can say about this. Probably the least used form you’ll see. At least it gives Shin Getter 3 a water buddy.

Keep Grendizer MS underwater and have him join in the combat. The enemy’s attacks don’t deal as much damage to underwater enemies, so take advantage of that. Sadly, since Shin 3 can’t fly, his attacks on the flying mooks won’t help him much. Take down the grunts before focusing on Aquila. He runs at 20% (5600) HP so try to line up a good support attack with Benkei or Rim.

Now for the boss man.

Let’s go! I won’t let you get away!
Good. Show me your power.

Dammit…!
…The control system overloaded? But against someone like you, this malfunction is no problem.

You bastard! Prepare yourself!
That’s right, get heated!

I shot him down with a Thunder Break supported by Benkei’s Getter Beam.

…I see. You are worth of besting Ignis. Very well, this time I lost. We will meet again someday. I am one of the five Melior Esse, Commander Aquila. Let my name, along with my hatred, be engraved in your hearts.

They retreated… So that’s Ruina..
Geez louise. There’s not much we can do against so many annoying enemies.
Hmph. You scared? If they are evil, then we will fight to the bitter end.
Right. Anyway, everyone please return.
(“Ruin”... Ruina, huh…)

[Ra Cailum, War Room]
Is that right? I never imagined that Daisuke was an Alien named Duke Fleed. I feel like I’ve been tricked here.
Sorry, Koji. I really didn’t want to fight. I would have been content to never pilot Grendizer.
But you fought the Invaders and Ruina now. Why change your mind?
Right now, I consider myself a citizen of Earth. I couldn’t turn a blind eye to the state of things after the incident. A little bit ago, I was contacted by Dr. Earl.
Right. …I’m shocked but reassured.
Seriously, Doctor. Why didn’t you tell us about this sooner?
Oh sorry. I was late in getting back to you.
(He’s communicating via monitor by the way)
What’s wrong with you, gramps? Pull yourself together.
Oh, I’m sorry.
I see. There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with what he said.
Indeed. What’s more, he’s the prince of Planet Fleed. It too was destroyed by the Gishin Empire. You’re both in the same situation, Prince. Let’s defeat the Gishin together.
So the guardian of Planet Fleed is… Grendizer?
Wow, another prince. Hey Kento, it’s it great that you have a new friend?
Shut up, Danji.
Of course, you can’t compare a single planet to a nation like the Helios Empire.
Oi, isn’t there a nicer way to put it?
It’s fine, I don’t mind. Thank you.
You sure? Fair enough.
You said that woman is an Earthling?
Yes. My name is Hikaru Makiba.
I tried to stop her, but she also wants to fight for the Earth. Would you allow us to accompany you?
Of course. You two are welcome.
Thank you very much.
Oh and about that data, I found something incredible.
You were able to decipher it?
Yes. It came from the Gishin Empire. That robot, named Gaia, responds to the brainwaves of a Gishin named Mars. It’s powered by Antiproton energy, but at the same time it’s an Antiproton bomb. If it exploded anywhere near the Earth, everything would be vaporized instantly.
Wha… Are you for real!?
Is that really true?
Unfortunately. Moreover, the bomb is also controlled by Mars’ brainwaves and can be detonated at any time.
The one who piloted it was Takeru. Is this Gishin named Mars actually him?
Considering the circumstances, it’s the only conclusion.
He was a spy this entire time!
You have a Gishin here!?
Akira, don’t be a dumbass. Even if Takeru was an alien, he’s still one of us.
I can’t imagine Takeru cooperating with the enemy or destroying the Earth.
True. But don’t you still feel anxious?
But there’s more! If Mars ever dies, Gaia is designed to explode instantly.
What the hell!?
I knew it, things just got more complicated.
Tetsuya, could you bring Takeru here?
Understood.

…And that’s everything. Other than that, I really don’t know anything.
Zuul… The Gishin Emperor. You saw Zuul in a dream, an assassin from Gishin, and you have psychic powers too, right?
…Yes, ever since then…
It’s said that Zuul possesses incredible psychic powers. His story checks out.
Hmm…
But he’s from Planet Gishin! Can we trust him?
Naoto, stop it!
I…Maybe I am a Gishin. But in my heart, I’m an Earthling!
How can Earthlings use psychic powers!
What’s wrong!? Aren’t we friends!?
I don’t recall having any friends from Planet Gishin.
Naoto, stop.
He’s right. Say this is all true, then if Takeru wanted to destroy the Earth, we’d be dead already.
I would never do something like that! Why don’t you believe me?
…What should we do?
Either way, if he dies, it’s all over. He can’t return to being a Cosmo Crusher crew member.
Right… Takeru, I order you to wait in your quarters. You won’t be restrained, but you will be kept under observation.
No way…
Captain, this is terrible. What did Takeru ever do? He may be a Gishin, but he’s on our side.
I believe him. However, if he dies, it’s all over. This is out of our hands.
Boss…

[Ra Cailum Bridge]
You’re Dr. Clifford Gygax? Were you in Antarctica with Joshua and Cliana?
Correct.
But the OZ Antarctic research team was decimated…
I heard they were attacked by the Ruina. Is this true, Professor?
Doctor. Please call me Doctor Cliff. And to answer your question, yes. The best I could do was escape. Well, me and a few others.
Hmm. It seems that so far, we’re the only ones who stand a fighting chance.
Yes… It seems that way.
So Doctor, what about the Antarctic?
We’re investigating the energy field. We can’t confirm anything on the inside.
But you were in there before.
Of course. However the accident occurred at the lowest level which wasn’t my responsibility. That was Professor Radcliffe’s domain. I don’t know what happened.
Radcliffe…? Is he related to Josh?
You didn’t know? The Professor is Josh’s father. He’s also Rim’s adoptive father.
What?
He never told you?
Ah… We never heard anything about it. I knew they were siblings, but not that their father was involved in that accident.
Hmm. Maybe the incident was caused by their father’s accident and he feels responsible. That’s the kind of guy Josh is. Or maybe he thought you’d blame him for it if you found out. Or maybe both.
But you’re the one from Re-Tech. Aren’t you more responsible?
Don’t be silly. I can’t take responsibility for something I don’t know.
But you were a researcher in those ruins.
So what? We’re trying to figure out what happened. Even if I was the cause, are you saying I should take responsibility and die?
No, not at all…
Then there’s no point in discussing that. I see, so those two were afraid of that senseless malice. They didn’t realize that it was pointless to feel responsible for the Professor. I understand now.
Now that I think about it, I raised Kei as my daughter to avoid her the torture of being recognized as Professor Saotome’s son…
…You’re right.
True… If I’d known, I might have confronted them. Okay, let’s change topics.
Yes, that’s how rational humans behave. I feel relieved to know that you’re all decent people.
But what about not feeling any responsibility at all? I don’t think you’re a decent person.
It’s not that I don’t feel any responsibility. I’m saying it’s meaningless under the current circumstances.
But…
I suppose you can’t help thinking that. People like us are always suffering from the lack of understanding around us. There’s no need to worry. It’s a fate that never changes no matter the era.

[Ra Cailum, Officer’s Quarters]
…I see. Okay, I’ll talk to the Captains about that later.
Please do. They won’t hold you responsible.
But Cliff, if you do that, everyone will hate you. You always speak the truth even if it’s harsh.
In order to be hated efficiently, you only need to tell the truth. Those who cannot argue will become more stressed and emotional.
If you knew, you shouldn’t have done it.
It’s my nature, but I’ll try to be careful. Alright?
…I’m referring to the Ruina. Are they really unrelated to that place?
…What do you mean?
They didn’t exist before the accident. You should have noticed that, Cliff. Ruina is “Ruin”. Ignis is “Fire”, and Aquila is “Eagle”. It’s all in Latin, isn’t it? A language that even Earthlings barely know. But scholars know it. The researchers there knew it.
“Race Arcana” too. That’s the name Professor Radcliffe gave them. Yes, I was aware of that when I read the report. Is that what you’re trying to say? I wonder if the Ruina are related to the people who worked in those ruins.
Really? Bro, are you serious!?
Yea…
The possibility cannot be denied. But there’s little reason to think that this is the case. Either way, we can’t know without investigating. Worry about that now isn’t going to help you, Josh.
…I know. What about Rim?
Her mech has a system called “Sympathia”… Which is Latin too. I looked into it and it’s possible that it’s the cause.
No way….
What is this system?
I think it has something to do with the mind. That’s why there’s compatibility issues with other units. Currently it’s incorporated as an aid to its operating system, but…
But you don’t know the details.
Right. If you’re worried, why not just not pilot it, Rim?
(...What should we do, Liana?)
(I think we need it for now. What about you?)
(Um… At this point, I can’t just say it doesn’t matter anymore.)
(Let’s see how it goes.)
(Alright.)
…I discussed it with Chris and I think we still need it right now. We’ll keep using it.
Rim…
It’ll be okay. There hasn’t been any changes recently. No need to worry, bro. If anything happens, I’ll stop using it and will let you know.
…Understood.
Of course I’ll check out your mech as well. If I find anything out, I’ll let you know.
Please do, Cliff.

[??????]
What do you think, Stinger? Those guys and that black Getter Robo.
They’ve returned from space in greater numbers. And that Getter was so violent. I guess it has to be him after all.
He’s a tough one. We should get rid of him and THE BOYS together. What do you think, Stinger?
You’re right, Cowen. Nothing good ever comes from having those guys around.
He who controls Shin Dragon will control the Earth, no, the universe. Our victory will play a prelude to the true armageddon. Let them become a sacrifice to our greatness. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
