Video of this chapter
I just put three points in HP/EN/Mobility/Armor into the Excellence. I also gave it a Chobham Armor and Magnetic Coating. It’s the only robot I have access to for this intermission.
Last time, we accidentally went back in time and immediately got captured by Neo Zeon.
[Alternative Company, A Room]
I’ve never heard of Alternative Company before.
It’s a weapons manufacturing company. They’re not well known since they’re competing with Anaheim and Nergal Heavy Industries.
I see, so that’s why they’ve joined forces with Neo Zeon.
More or less. But since their technological capabilities are inferior to Anaheim and Nergal, they’re trying to get an advantage in another area.
Another area?
Apparently they’re gathering Newtypes and Cyber Newtypes for research. Since the UESN was established, research on these subjects has waned. If they offer favorable conditions, it shouldn’t be hard to lure away engineers.
Oh, so that’s why they’re gathering Newtypes like you, Amuro.
And that girl too?
…
Tiffa Adill. Yeah. She’s one of the few Newtypes who isn’t a soldier…
I haven’t really spoken to her, but she seems like she’s given up.
No. She’s waiting. We both are.
?
How long are you guys going to slack off? Get back to work repairing the Excellence. You help out too. You’re its pilot, aren’t you?
Fine.
[Alternative Company, Deck]
Raji, Mizuho, how’s the repair going?
It’s almost done. We were able to use a lot of parts from the Cosmodriver Frame and other mobile suit parts they’ve provided, but…
But?
Raul, I want to replenish the time particles, so please start the engine.
OK.
Alright, please start it now
Starting the engine… Time particle collection window is open.
Collecting time particles. Particle levels at… 30… 40… 50…
…
90… 100. OK. Please close the window.
The good thing about time particles is that they can be collected anywhere time is flowing.
True that.
What’s wrong? You don’t look well.
I’ve always looked like this.
You’re lying. You don’t think I know you that well? We haven’t been together for over ten years for nothing.
…I can’t get anything past you.
So?
It’s my shortcoming as a researcher. I denied the possibility of time warping with the Time Flow Engine and instead developed a regular engine. But then we actually travelled back in time…
Who cares about that!? We need to figure out what we’re going to do…
What do you mean “who cares”!? This accident has completely shattered my pride as a researcher! I rejected my father’s dream of a time machine and instead chose the path of using the Time Flow Engine as a stable energy supply system!
…I want to go home.
Huh?
We'll go back home. The Time Flow Engine was originally designed to power a time machine. This time slip proved that time travel is possible. We just need to perfect the engine so that the Excellence can timewarp again. Then we’ll go back to our original time. Sounds good?
…Easier said than done. But that seems what we should be doing. It’s just hard to admit that I’ve been wrong until now…
Do you think scientists never make mistakes?
That hurts, man.
You too, Mizuho. I need you. The Excellence took shape because you were there. It’s true that we can’t go back right now. But we must go back. For the Excellence’s sake as well.
For the Excellence’s sake?
Yes. Just having the Time Flow Engine is meaningless. We need a body to transform that energy into power. Such as the Excellence’s Frames.
…Okay.
Anyway, our priority right now is to repair this thing. Whether we listen to what they say or run away, it’ll be tough without the Excellence.
True.
Plus… Amuro said that he was waiting for something. Maybe something will happen?
What are you guys yapping about? You’re not planning to escape, are you?
(I could let them escape and track them to their base…)
[Explosions]
What the!?
The Freeden is attacking!
Damn you Jamil. You’ve come to get Tiffa and Amuro back. Launch a counterattack!
Lord Rakan, Amuro and Tiffa have escaped.
What!?
My apologies. It seems that someone from the Freeden has infiltrated the base during the attack.
No excuses, idiots! Get them back now or I’ll kill you myself!
Y-yes sir!
Now! Both of you, get on!
Crap!
Excellence Striker, standby… GO!
Don’t forget to retrieve the Cosmodriver’s cockpit. It has a valuable spare engine!
[Alternative Company, Hallway]
This way. The GX is hidden outside!
(Garrod Ran)
There’s too many of them. I told you Garrod. Take Tiffa and run. I’ll take care of them.
But then you’ll…
Just run. Do you want Tiffa to be used as a tool of war!?
Alright. Thanks.
[Explosions]
It’s that thing!
The Excellence…
The Excellence will take care of them. You guys, run!
Looks like we’re all making it out of here. Garrod, go to the GX with Tiffa!
What about you?
There’s a Re-GZ on the deck. I’ll take it.
Okay. Be careful!
Don’t let them get away. Send out the mobile suits!
Ra Cailum Route Chapter 5: I’ll Give You Power…
Don’t hit the buildings directly!
(Jamil Neate)
Hey hey, boy. Can you come out already? It’s boring that I have to keep missing,
(Roybea Loy)
(I hope there’s a lead to find Kamille…)
(Fa Yuiry)
It’s here. The GX!
(Sala Tyrrell)
What’s that? There’s something there I’ve never seen before.
(Witz Sou)
There’s a Re-GZ and one other one… What is it?
(Lucrezia Noin)
Freeden! Can you hear me!? I’ve succeeded in rescuing Tiffa and Amuro, with a plus one. They’re an ally. Don’t attack them.
Their pursuers are here.
The Freeden, huh? You rotten USEN dog! I’ll destroy you!!
Oh man, there’s a lot of new units to play with.
[Freeden]
The main battleship for this part of the game. It has hover movement so terrain and water won’t affect how far it can move most of the time. It does also have a long range cannon to help ping targets, and you’ll want to use this.
[GX-9900 Gundam X]
The GX itself is unimpressive most of the time. Its attacks are weak and its stats are average. Its usefulness comes from the fact that Garrod is a fantastic Oldtype pilot, and it has the Satellite Cannon. In SRW R, the Satellite Cannon can be used on any stage regardless of time of day, has a massive 1-9 range, and will deal massive damage. But it can only be used once every few turns and has a kinda high will requirement. The GX does get a more consistent finisher much later in the game though. One last thing. It can fly and by default it is, but its air ranking is only a B. Land him as soon as possible and keep flight just for movement.

[GW-9800 Gundam Airmaster]
The Airmaster is a fine transforming mobile suit. What’s funny is that his mobility and attacks stay the same between mobile suit and mobile armor forms, so the only reason to transform him is for the additional movement, since the MA form has less armor. Overall, it’s decent and plenty usable.
[GT-9600 Gundam Leopard]
The Leopard itself is a fine long ranged mobile suit, much like the Heavyarms you all know and love. The problem is with the pilot, Roybea. This game lacks the Hit & Away skill, which for a case like the Leopard, will cause him to fall behind the rest of the army if you’re on the move. He also lacks the Accel spirit, which makes catching up all the harder. If you want to use the Leopard, you’ll want to give him movement increasing parts or only use him on stages where you need to play more defensively.

[MSA-005 Methuss]
The Methuss will be your main healer for a long while. Fa is also a great support pilot with her big SP pool and access to Trust. Just don’t expect them to do great in combat.

[OZ-12SMS Taurus]
Unlike other SRW games, this Taurus doesn’t have a repair or resupply module. It’s less useful since it can no longer support units, but Noin herself is a great support pilot. I just wish her mech was better overall.
There’s also Amuro in a Re-GZ. Since this is Zeta-era Amuro, he’s not as stupidly broken as his CCA version. But he’s still one of the best pilots in this game. I’m also not sure if this Re-GZ shares upgrades with the pre-time travel version.
SECRET ALERT
You have from now until stage 22 to get Jamil/Freeden 20 kills. It’s really not that hard if you ping enemies who are about to die with its main cannon.
Your first priority is to regroup both sides, preferably in the forest between them. Then storm the base. The mobile armor enemies have MAP attacks, but their accuracy sucks. The main problem involves dealing with the units inside the base, since that terrain gives them increased armor, evasion, and HP/EN regen. Try to park on top of the base as much as possible to get these advantages for yourself.
When there are six enemies remaining…
It’s those two!?
Gundam-types, huh? It’ll be interesting to take them on.
Hmm. I think this could be bad…
That’s… Goddammit Rakan. Can’t you even keep a proper watch?
(Shagia Frost)
The Frost Brothers? Help us capture them!
What should we do, brother?
(Olba Frost)
For now, they’re necessary for our plans. Let’s do what Rakan says.
I understand, brother.

Oh boy, the Frost Brothers. I sure hope you like seeing them, because they will show up a lot in this game. They’ll retreat when one of them is shot down or reaches 30% HP (2700 for Olba’s Gundam Ashtaron and 2400 for Shagia’s Gundam Virsago). But a little extra EXP and money won’t hurt.
Just stick to the plan and camp on the base. The Frost Brother’s Gundams have extremely long range, so you’ll have to get off of the base and go to them to take them down properly.
Rakan, even while buffed from the terrain, goes down nonetheless.
Today is just the worst!
I took down Shagia since he was in range of the Re-GZ. Those upgrades I put into the Excellence are paying off for sure.
Is this it? Well, whatever. This isn’t the stage where we should throw our lives away.
I understand, brother.
And if you take down Olba instead…
Dammit, I can still fight.
No, this is as far as we go. Olba, don’t let your emotions get the better of you. Remember our true purpose.
I understand, brother.
The map ends when all enemies are defeated, of course.
They’re gone…
Wait, more are coming!
Hey hey, don’t they know when to quit?
Dammit, is this the end?
Garrod… I’ll give you power…
Power?
You can’t be thinking… Stop it, Tiffa!
W-what is this? The Satellite…System? Alright!
Super Robot Wars R - Satellite Cannon
Hey, do you want to die, idiot!?
What are you planning…
Is that a laser?

What is this pressure?
Tiffa, listen to me… Stop…
Oh no, you wouldn't!
Don’t fire!
GO!

A nightmare… The nightmare is back…
This is… The Gundam’s…power…
That Gundam is incredible…
It’s not something a kid should have.
We’ve been using that thing without even knowing about that feature?
Was that the Satellite Cannon? I’ve read about it in documents…
Alright. Haha. We’re alive. Are you alright, Tiffa… Tiffa?
Uuu… Uaaa… Aaaaaahh…
That’s a light that creates misery…
Too many people just died. Tiffa, you’re already…
Uaaahh. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
Tiffa, what’s wrong? Tiffa!
[Alternative Company, A Room]
Amuro Ray and Tiffa Adill escaped?
(Glemy Toto) (He’s on the phone)
…I have no excuse.
Why did I send you down to Earth in the first place? How do you intend to take responsibility for this?
I have a plan. I’ll definitely get them back! Just wait a little longer!
…Very well. I’ll wait for good news.
[He hangs up]
It must be so easy to just give orders from space.
Lord Rakan, it’s a shame this turned out so badly.
Oh, it’s you two. Have you found the other Newtypes?
I do wonder where Kamille Bidan is hiding.
Then keep looking!
(We’re still looking. Right, brother?
(Yes. More importantly, did you see that?)
(The Satellite Cannon… It’s as we expected. No, even more so.)
(Yes, it’s even better than we hoped. Fufufu…)
[Freeden, Bridge]
I’ve heard your story from Lieutenant Amuro. I appreciate your assistance in their escape.
No, thank you for helping us.
We’d be grateful if you’d take us in for a while.
Of course. Welcome. I’m sure Lt. Amuro and the others won’t object.
Of course not. But Captain, please stop calling me a Lieutenant. I’m no longer in the military.
Sorry, Amuro.
But don’t we have to go back to your original facility? Your Excellence must have been made somewhere more suitable.
You’re right. It doesn’t look like it was made by putting parts from various sources together.
(Kid Salsamille)
!
We can’t go back there. It was blown to pieces by an enemy attack…
I see…
(Toniya Malme)
(...It’s not like I’m lying.)
Well, let me introduce myself again. I’m Jamil Neate, the Captain of the Freeden.
The hero of the great war? Even I’ve heard of you.
That was a long time ago.
I’m Sala Tyrrell. I’m the Freeden’s general operator.
Toniya Malme. I’m the radio operator.
I’m Kid Salsamille, the chief mechanic here. If you want to modify the Excellence, give me a heads up.
I appreciate it, but Mizuho is the Excellence’s dedicated mechanic.
Tch. I don’t think you’re as good as the great Kid, but let’s get along anyway.
L-likewise, nice to meet you.
I’m Witz Sou. I don’t know about any Excellence or anything, but don’t get in our way.
Judging by how you fought earlier, you’ll be fine. I’m Roybea Loy. A mobile suit pilot just like Witz.
I’m Fa Yuiry.
I know you’ve met Amuro and Tiffa. Where’s Garrod?
If you mean the Gundam Boy, he’s probably with Tiffa.
Is Garrod that guy who saved Amuro and Tiffa?
Yes. Garrod Ran. By the way, how’s Tiffa looking?
It seems she was under tremendous mental strain. She’s calmed down and is now sleeping.
[Freeden, Infirmary]
…
Tiffa, why…
In an instant, she felt the pain and fear of everyone you attacked as they died. The hearts of the dead…
The hearts of the dead…
Garrod, I’m warning you. Be careful when using the Satellite Cannon. It will only cause Tiffa pain. It will only bring misery.
[Freeden, Bridge]
We, the Freeden Corps, part of the United Earth Sphere National Defense Force, are searching for and protecting Newtypes and Cyber Newtypes.
The United Earth Sphere National Defense Force?
(Gonna abbreviate this to UESNDF from now on, if I remember.)
The repeated appearances of invaders forced the UESNDF to take emergency measures. We, the Preventers, have been in touch with them.
The Preventers?
You can think of us as the intelligence department of the UESN. Unofficially, of course.
Who are you?
Lucrezia Noin. I’m here as a Preventer liaison and a pilot.
By the way, have you found Kamille yet?
No. I’m sorry.
No, it’s not your fault we haven’t found him yet.
So Noin, where are we going next?
We’ve taken care of all known Newtypes. Until we find out where more Newtypes are, we’ll have to wait at GEAR HQ in Japan.
At least now we can take a little break. Can’t wait to relax with some Japanese girls.
If we get there in one piece.
Yes. It’s entirely possible that Neo Zeon will send troops to get Amuro and Tiffa back. Let’s not let our guard down until we get to Japan.
