Because this chapter is over the maximum 50k characters, I’m shortening “Newtype Research Institute” to “NRI”.

Chapter 20: Double X Activates!


Deploy 9 units. You cannot deploy any of the Shuffle Alliance, Amuro, Quattro, Kamille, or Fa. Witz and Roybea are force deploys. The Freeden is not usable for this stage.

Let’s go over the new units first.


[GX-9901-DX Gundam Double X]
Right now, the DX has much of the same problems that the GX has, that being its only good non-Satellite Cannon attack has limited ammo or is a one-ranged beam saber. Until an upgrade comes for it much later in the game, it basically needs a Giant Magazine part. Even so, it’s still an amazing mobile suit and its Twin Satellite Cannon will do extremely well for boss kills. Also since the DX is a completely different mobile suit, it doesn’t share any upgrades you put into the GX/Divider.


[MSF-007 Gundam Mk-III]
The secret unit of the Ra Cailum route. It’s a really good generic mobile suit that will serve you well all the way to the final stretch of the game. Perfect for Amuro, Kamille, or Quattro. Four’s a decent pilot too. Just be sure to upgrade its EN to max so you can spam its best attack.

If you didn’t get the Mk-III secret, Four will deploy in a Jegan. It’s the same as it was back at the start of the game.


[GT-9600-D Gundam Leopard Destroy]
An upgrade to the Leopard in terms of stats and weapons, but it still doesn’t fix the original’s main problem of post movement attacks. It also relies mostly on ammo, so if you want to use it, be sure to give it a Giant Magazine and/or a Megabooster.


[GW-9800-B Gundam Airmaster Burst]
Literally just the Airmaster but with better stats. It even has the same (but buffed) weapons. Also the MA mode actually slightly increases mobility this time.


Garrod and Four are surrounded and the rest of THE BOYS are way to the southwest. Normally I’d suggest camping out in the base, but I don’t think two mobile suits will survive against all those enemies. Thankfully none of the bosses will move for a few turns, so have both of them run as far as they can to the main group.


Speaking of bosses, we have Abel’s Rasveht and Trowa’s Heavyarms Kai in addition to the normal Frost Brothers, Ennil, Glemy, and Rakan. Don’t be afraid to use defensive spirits against any named enemy.

[XXXG-01D2 Deathscythe Hell Custom]
A close range mobile suit with a bushin and two attacks. One attack is just weak vulcans, but the other one is a powerful scythe swing that’s completely free. Deathscythe isn’t flashy, but it is extremely consistent in what it can do.


[XXXG-01SR2 Sandrock Custom]
A relatively well armored mid-ranged mobile suit. Overall it’s very solid and will put in work, but in a game with cooler options it can get forgotten very quickly. Quatre has great support spirits at the very least.

None of the enemies retreat at low HP, so group up and march your way forward to the base. Chances are the enemies will die before you get a chance to abuse that base’s terrain.
