Video of this chapter
Last time, we destroyed the Meganoids and took control of the Martian Polar Ice Cap Ruins. I’m going to shorten that part to “MPICR” from now on.
[MPICR]
[Alert]
Boson Jump confirmed.
A large number of Jovian Federation mechs are Boson Jumping in from a nearby Chulip.
[Area around MPICR]
Damn you THE BOYS. How dare you occupy our ruins.
We must take them back no matter what!
How did they learn about the ruins anyway?
Tsukumo must have told them!
[MPICR]
There’s a lot of them.
They’re well aware of the value these ruins hold.
Any good ideas?
Shiratori, do the Jovians know about the Computation Unit?
Most likely.
…I have an idea. Start a communication to whoever’s in charge over there.
Are you sure about this?
Argo used to be a space pirate. He’s used to bargaining in situations like these.
Opening communication line with the enemy.
This is Major Genpachi Akiyama of the Jovian Federation’s Yuto Squad.
(On the phone)
I’m Argo Gulsky of THE BOYS. I request your immediate withdrawal.
You know I can’t do that.
You should know about the ruin’s defense systems. Furthermore, we have the Computation Unit.
Mmm…
If you don’t leave, we will destroy it.
Then you’ll also be unable to perform Boson Jumps. Are you okay with that?
You should be able to recognize which of our sides would be hurt more by the absence of Jumping.
…You’ll have nowhere to run.
We’ll make it out of this just fine. But if there’s an all-out war between Earth and Jupiter, do you think you’ll be able to win?
That’s right. The Jovians have no chance to win a war of attrition.
…
Enemy mobile weapons are retreating.
Hell yeah!
You’re doing great, old man.
I’ve fought many unfavorable battles back when I was a pirate…
So you have more knowledge when it comes to these situations, non?
But we’re still in the same position as before.
Let’s get the thing and get out of here already.
Hurry it up with the work.
Leave the heavy lifting to Borot.
[Jovian Battleship Kagurazuki, Command Room]
Why the hell did you come back here!?
Hello to you too. Vice Admiral Kusakabe, Boson Jumping is the key to our battles. We can’t lose the ability to perform them.
And so you’ll just give them the Unit!?
They’re also researching Boson Jumping. They won’t destroy it unless absolutely necessary.
Sure, if they have to. But once they bring it to Earth, they’ll have all the chips.
We can’t just sit back and watch them take it away!
We have a plan.
Oh, it’s you brats.
If you leave it to us, I’m sure we can take it back.
Then you can do what you like with THE BOYS. Boil them, roast them, stick them in a stew…
You really think you can take it back?
[MPICR]
So what’ll we do after we remove the Unit?
If it was just the Nadesico, we could use a Chulip to Boson Jump back like the last time we were on Mars…
But we have two ships this time.
It was a miracle that we even made it to Earth last time.
quote:
Hey Raul, can one ship guide another through a Boson Jump?
Why are you asking me?
You know why.
…
If you’re okay with letting me do it alone, I’ll guide the Ra Cailum on the Jump.
[Alarm]
Enemy mobile weapons are Boson Jumping back in.
Now they’re ready to fight.
Where’s Astonaige? Are they still not done yet?
Looks like it’s taking a little longer than expected.
Launch the Nadesico! We’ll buy them a little time.
[Screen shakes]
What the? An earthquake?
…What’s this feeling?
Chapter 34: Surpassing “Gekiganger”!
Attention THE BOYS. This is an order. Quietly surrender and disarm. If our demands aren’t met, we will attack you.
Everyone, please listen to me. You’ve all been fooled by Kusakabe. The real enemy isn’t Earth. You have imposters among you!
You’re just a traitor!
You’ve insulted Nanako and humiliated Gekiganger!
Gekiganger is a god-tier anime. We wouldn’t be who we are today without it. It taught us love, hope, and passion. But is it really okay to continue like this!?
What!?
Is it okay to just follow Gekiganger’s way of life? Making peace with your enemies isn’t how Gekiganger ended, but we all share the same peace loving heart!
How can you make peace with evil?
Why do you label Earth as evil? It’s true that those who banished our ancestors were evil, but to label everyone else as evil just because we’re all their descendents goes against the truth!
Evil must be destroyed… Isn’t that what Gekiganger is about?
There are other ways. We can’t just blindly follow Gekiganger. We must face the truth, treat people with love, and create an ending that surpasses Gekiganger!
Surpassing Gekiganger… Is that even possible?
Just as a disciple surpasses their master, we who were raised on Gekiganger can surpass it. No, we must surpass it! That’s our response to Gekiganger and to the people who created it. Isn’t that the ultimate expression of respect?
Shiratori…
Don’t just say whatever you want. That doesn’t change the fact that you tried to kill Vice Admiral Kusakabe at the peace talks!
…
That’s not true! Kusakabe shot us first!
Don’t lie! Vice Admiral Kusakabe would never do something like that!
More enemies are Jumping in.
How foolish! Let’s just let them buy all the time they need.
You mean they’re… They’re just trying to buy time?
No I’m not!
No more talk. All units, charge in!!
Here they come.
Astonaige, Doctor, are you finished yet?
Sorry to keep you waiting. We just finished now.
Hurry and load it into the Ra Cailum. We’ll act as a shield and force our way through!
[Earthquake]
Another earthquake!?
No, it’s not!
Waaaaaah!
Astonaige!
The Devil Gundam!
They’re still around?
They went underground and snuck into the ruins.
Enemy attack incoming!

Kyaaaaa!
Damage report!
Engine block hit. Output is not increasing.
Nadesico is unable to move!
We’re stuck here!?
Hey, what’s that Devil Gundam holding?
Isn’t that the Computation Unit!?
Sorry, Captain… It got stolen…
…You said you’d attack and create a distraction… But you’re not doing anything… I knew it, we’re just…
That’s not true. Blame Tsukumo’s words… Dammit, let’s just go already!
Despinis, return to base. Secure the Unit.
Okay.
Just to be safe, I’ll leave you guys here.
Please be careful.
No need to hold back anymore. Let’s go!
Deploy 14 units. Tsukumo in the Alstroemeria (or Tetsujin if you never got that secret) is forced. I would personally advise against deploying any Aestivalises except for the Black Sarena because the Nadesico is unable to move.
Captain Bright!
Captain Misumaru, I’m sorry but I never expected them to come at us from underground.
Is the Nadesico okay!?
We can supply energy to the Aestis, but we can’t move.
Our priority right now is to intercept the enemy.
The Nadesico can’t move. Now’s our chance.
Welcome to the Nadesico finale, if you can believe that. The enemy will come in multiple waves. For the first wave, huddle up and let them come to you. None of the enemies are particularly challenging except for Hokushin and his Hokushin Six. They’ll be pretty hard to hit for most pilots without the use of Aim or Focus. Also if you haven’t been using Dendoh or Ogre recently, now’s the best chance to bring them back up to speed since they’ll be very important in the final few chapters.
Also be sure to heal up the Nadesico. Cutscene damage is real damage.
Genichiro, wake up! Is this the passion that you believe in !?
Shut up! You’ve insulted something more precious to me than my life. Have you ever once considered how I feel!?
Genichiro…
No enemies have any death quotes, but once the number of enemies drops below 8…
Enemy reinforcements.
They should know just throwing guys into the wood chipper isn’t going to be enough.
But they can do it almost endlessly.
If this turns into a war of attrition, we’ll be at a disadvantage.
The enemy is using that Chulip to Boson Jump in, right? So if we can just destroy it…
I see. Without the Chulip, the Jovians can’t send any reinforcements!
Okay. Attention all units.
Reach the Chulip and destroy it!
But if we do that, we won’t be able to leave either!
You’d rather the enemy continue to keep coming like this!?
So much like the Gundam X finale stage, you have infinitely respawning reinforcements to contend with. Not to mention each wave of reinforcements are slightly stronger than the last wave. You can shut off the reinforcements by getting any unit to the Chulip alllllll the way on the other side of the map. But here’s the trick, I lied. There are only a maximum of six waves of reinforcements before they stop coming. So you can just turtle up and hit each wave of finite reinforcements until the tap runs dry, or you can rush the Chulip and knock it out early. Just remember that the Nadesico can’t move so if any of them rush past you, it’s on its own.
I have things to do, so I opted to turn off the faucet. Each character has a line for doing so and I don’t have the desire to list every single one of them.
The map ends when all enemies are destroyed. The Devil Gundams aren’t even worth mentioning.
There are no more enemies nearby.
There’s more than one Chulip around here. If we stick around, they’ll just find another one to Jump to.
As soon as the Nadesico’s repairs are done, we’ll leave Mars.
[Y-Nadesico, Bridge]
What do you mean it can’t be repaired!?
The damage they did was greater than we thought. The Phase Transition Engine is totaled…
…We have to abandon the ship.
Bullcrap! You just want to leave the Nadesico on Mars and go home!?
There’s no point in having a battleship that can’t move.
…
Yurika…
…Fine. I get it… Everyone, head to the Ra Cailum immediately…
What about Omoikane?
I just need to extract its data…
I WILL ASSIST YOU.
Don’t worry, Ruri. We’ll prepare a new body for Omoikane as soon as we get back to Earth.
[Ra Cailum, Bridge]
Shiratori, you’re a key witness to what happened. If you return to Earth, you won’t have it easy.
I’m prepared for that.
It’s all the Earthling’s fault! If they didn’t banish our ancestors, then this wouldn’t be happening in the first place…
Yukina, we’ll right that wrong with our own hands.
Captain Bright, everyone’s luggage is loaded.
Ra Cailum, launch! We’re going to Earth!
[Jovian Battleship Kagurazuki, Command Room]
We have an emergency.
What’s the matter?
We got the Computation Unit, so it’s mission accomplished, right?
It’s about the Computation Unit… The Frost Brothers and Despinis ran off with it!
W-what the hell!?
They’ve been deceiving us from the beginning!
[???, ???]
What a shame. Kusakabe was such a sweetheart too.
You’re right, brother…
The Computation Unit… We now have all the power we need to influence the coming battles.
Yes. That power is now ours…
…
[Jovian Battleship Kagurazuki, A Room]
Is something wrong? You called for me out of the blue.
…
We’re having a meeting coming up about what the Federation is going to do next.
Right. Before that, I want to talk frankly with you.
…What’s this about?
Maybe we’ve been in the wrong this whole time…
[Meteo, Command Room]
You had a hard time on Mars, Bright.
We managed to shake the Jovian’s pursuit and made it back at least.
Oh, Kosuke, you’re back. We need your help right away.
Dr. Yotsuya, why are you here?
Not just him, but Doctors Sakonji, Go, and Saotome are here too.
Dad.
Now that he’s here, it’s a family reunion.
Don’t mock me. I didn’t come here to play.
Then why?
We’re here to speed up Meteo’s repairs.
You’re here for Meteo!?
Yes. Things happened while you were out and we need to speed things up.
Look at this. This is from an exploration satellite.
Is that a planet?
Pluto, right?
(TL Note: This game came out in 2002, but Pluto will always be a planet in my heart.)
No. That planet shouldn’t exist in the Solar System.
…No… It can’t be!
This planet is approaching us. Right now it’s on the edge of the Solar System, near Pluto’s orbit.
…I recognized that planet anywhere…
What is it?
…That’s the Galfa homeworld… Though it was once our home planet, Arctus.
They’re sending an entire planet at us!?
What? You’re saying their next attack is an entire planet!?
Oh, this has to be the final battle! This is the climax!!
You idiot, this isn’t the time for that!
Throughout all of Galfa’s history, they’ve never moved the planet… Emperor Galfa is willing to risk everything to get his hands on Dendoh and the Data Weapons.
So that’s where they are…
If they’re doing that, then the planet has to be powerful, right?
Yes. The homeworld has a moon with a weapon that can easily destroy other planets. Plus the planet itself is protected by a strong energy shield.
The entire planet is covered by a barrier!?
In addition, there are a thousand Spiral Castles scattered across the universe. If the home planet itself is coming at us, there’s no way they won’t be gathering here…
You mean we have to fight a thousand of those Spiral Castles from before!?
If they reach us, we’re doomed.
Don’t say there’s nothing we can do.
That’s right! There has to be a way!
There’s only one plan… And it won’t be easy.
…We’ll have to strike at the planet’s core!
And before they get here!
That’s why we’re here fixing Meteo.
[Galfa Homeworld, Command Room]
I’ve finally found the two GEARs and the Data Weapons… I’ll take that power for myself… It’ll be all mine…
Emperor Galfa, stay calm. THE BOYS and the two GEARs are getting desperate…
That’s right. Though the enemy has two GEARs and six Data Weapons.
But they haven’t gotten the seventh yet.
(Brother… It seems there’s another power that can change the course of battles besides the Satellite System…)
(But unlike the Satellite System and the Computation Unit, this one is a legendary power…)
(Shall we check it out, brother?)
(...I wonder…)
[Galfa Homeworld, A Room]
…What is Duminas anyway?
I don’t know… Duminas itself probably doesn’t know either.
(...Actually, I’ve looked into it a bit. Our initial guess was correct…)
(So the thing the Time Flow Engine will be installed in will be…)
(Yes. Duminas itself. I think it wants the power to travel through time by itself.)
(...We can’t let it do that…)
(Agreed.)
(I won’t let that happen. No matter what.)
(Don’t push yourself too hard… Did you hear what they were talking about earlier?)
(Yes. It looks like the Lightning Frame was completed.)
(Raul will come save us.)
(But we can’t just sit back and wait for it to happen. We’re in the lion’s den now…)
(I know.)
quote:
(Yes. It looks like the Eternal Frame was completed.)
(Just be patient for a little while longer. I’m sure they’ll come for us.)
(...At least I can relax a bit.)
(Huh?)
(I can safely leave the research on the Time Flow Engine to her.)
(...No, you can’t be thinking…)
(As the creator of the Time Flow Engine, I have a responsibility… Once I create it, I don’t know how it'll be used. My attention doesn’t go that far.)
(What are you thinking… No… Stop that right now!)
You’re not planning to run away, are you?
Maybe. It seems this planet has entered the Solar System.
This time, the Earth is finished.
Why don’t you guys stop messing around for once?
What’d you say?
If you cling to a power you can’t master, you’ll only destroy yourselves.
Thanks for the advice… But your concern is unnecessary.
Do your best to come up with an escape plan. Excuse us.
…
…
(...Can that experimental Frame you made move?)
(...It can move at any time.)
(...Just stay calm. We’ll only get one shot at this…)
quote:
(Just one shot…)
(I’ll create the opportunity.)
[Meteo, Hangar]
So that’s the new Nadesico…
The Nadesico C has just been completed.
Nadesico C?
Yes, the third Nadesico. A, B, C.
We rushed its construction using data from the previous Nadesico and data from the experimental Nadesico B.
I’ll start transferring Omoikane into it.
[Meteo, Command Room]
Supply delivery 90%. 3D radar system OK. High-speed nav system confirmed. Weapon and control system check complete… Third armor plate repair at 90%... Propulsion system check. All green up to Level 3.
This is going better than I expected. This is all thanks to all of you.
Don’t mention it. I’m not sure how much help I’ve been.
When it comes to deep space spaceships, there are many areas where our expertise isn’t viable.
Chief, you called for us?
Oh, you’re here. Actually…
We’re going to restore Dendoh to how it was.
Restore it?
In other words, Dendoh will go back to being a two-seater.
Then who’s getting Ogre? Subaru?
Me.
Brother?
…During my tenure as Captain of Galfa’s Guard… I’ve tormented and destroyed the people of so many planets.
Uncle…
Even if we defeat Galfa, I don’t think my crimes are forgivable.
Altair…
But all I can do now is defeat Emperor Galfa and prevent him from wreaking any more havoc.
[Screen flashes]
!
The Gear Commander glowed…
Altair, Ogre is happy to see you back.
Ogre…
Uncle Altair, I’m returning Ogre to you.
…Thank you.
[Presidential Palace, A Room]
I see. So peace talks with the Jovians have broken down…
I’m sorry.
We’re not giving up yet… I actually just got a call from the Jovians.
Huh?
They want to negotiate again.
[Meteo, Command Room]
Loading of supplies is complete.
The Galfa homeworld has just passed Saturn and is heading towards Jupiter.
Shadows resembling the Spiral Castle have been spotted between Saturn and Uranus, numbering about 250.
Don’t bother with the small fry! Our only target is the homeworld.
Is the Nadesico C ready?
Yes. It’s perfect.
Omoikane is happy too.
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s been a long and hard battle. But it will all end with this upcoming battle. No, it must end.
The enemy is Emperor Galfa. According to our intelligence, Duminas is also there.
If we look at this battle simply from a military strength perspective, we don’t even have a one in ten thousand chance of winning.
Nevertheless, we must win!
Meteo will now launch an attack on the Galfa homeworld!! Meteo, start the main engine!
Antiparticle Engine, starting.
Pressure is normal inside the reactor.
Reactive drive, operating.
All clear for launch.
Meteo, launch!
[Hoshimicho, Beach]
…There they go.
The kids are off to war…
We’ve done all we could…
The rest is up to them. All we can do is watch over them.
That’s right.
[Musashi’s Grave]
Musashi, look. Our successors are heading into battle... They may not talk the talk, but they can walk the walk…
[Meteo, Maintenance Dock]
Achoo!!
You got a cold?
No way. Gou never gets sick.
What’s that supposed to mean, Sho! …I bet that old fart’s talking shit about me.
(...I’ve finally finished sorting the data… All that’s left is to pick them up and go home!)
quote:
(It’s finally time… Wait for me, you two! I’ll save you and then we’ll return to the future!!)
