Video of this chapter
One thing I forgot to mention about Falsaber is that he comes with the unique skill “Treasure of the Heart”, which gives Youta and Falsaber innate +10 SP regen per turn.
Last time, a field trip to the Big Apple goes awry and little Yuu goes off to a mysterious island with a bunch of strangers.
[Bay Tower Base, Main Order Room]
Everyone, it’s been a journey and a half. We at GGG welcome you.
This place is massive… I can’t believe something like this is under Tokyo.
It’s so well hidden. There’s no way a normal person would realize that the Space Development Agency houses GGG.
Here, our focus is on “Extra Intelligence”, or more accurately, extraterrestrial intelligence. We’re on the front lines, protecting humanity from the “Zonders”. It would be troubling if we were found so easily.
But since the Zonders have been destroyed, our primary enemies now are the Kikaijus and the Jaaku Empire’s Jaaku Beasts.
I’ve heard about the battle against the Zondarians. I’m glad everyone is safe.
OH Falsaber! I’m so happy to see you again!
(Swan White. GaoGaiGar. CV: Miki Narahashi)
Please visit Volfogg and the other Super AIs later. I’m sure they’ll be happy.
…Okay.
Everyone knows Falsaber from before we met…
Getting jealous?
!? What, no! Don’t jump to conclusions!
Ah, so you’re Falsaber’s current fusion partner? You seem unreliable. Why don’t you hit the gym like me? Check these guns out!
R-right… I’ll do my best…
Hey, don’t bully the kid too much, Hyuuma.
Guy, have you had your examination yet? We still need to run more tests…
You’ve seen enough. You know very well my body isn’t that weak, right?
Y-yeah…
?
By the way, Dad, have you finished the preparations?
Thanks to the WSO’s help, we’ve finished it faster than expected.
The equipment’s already loaded. We can go investigate the Fold Fault at any time.
What do you mean by investigating the Fold Fault? Does it have something to do with the fact the Hyperspace Network stopped working about six months ago?
Hyperspace Network…?
It’s a hyperspace communications network built by a certain research facility and used by many countries.
You know your stuff, Koji.
…But that’s all I know about it.
Perfect time to explain things. Hiiragi, what do you know about Folding?
Just what I picked up at school… If I remember correctly, it’s about shrinking space to travel long distances. Like a shortcut, right?
That’s the jist of it. Fold navigation and Fold communications are applications of this technology for long distance travel and communications.
I also remember hearing that warping was dangerous, so its practical use is limited to only a few places…
Let’s leave aside the question of whether that’s true for now. So in essence, a Fold Fault is a rift in space that disrupts Folding.
Of course, Fold Faults are not uncommon in outer space. There are ways to avoid them, but…
Recently, outer space has become unstable due to Fold Faults and other factors. It’s to the point where Fold navigation and communications are impossible.
As a result, we’ve lost all contact with the various migrant fleets that left earth for deep space.
So that’s why… No wonder we can’t use the Hyperspace Network.
It’s not something the feds can ignore. In the middle of all this, a rather large spatial fluctuation was confirmed in a certain area, so we were asked to investigate.
But how do we investigate it? Aren’t you already observing it?
Chief Taiga, preparations for the on-site investigation are complete. We can leave at any time.
Huh?
Oh, I’ve read the report but it seems you beat us here.
It’s been a while, Captain Yuuki.
(Leon Sakaki. Macross 30. CV: Miyu Irino)
Hehe. I’m here too.
(Mina Forte. Macross 30. CV: Haruka Chisuga)
Are you Tsubasa’s friends?
They’re with the Private Military Contractor “SMS”. They help out the WSO from time to time.
They’ve agreed to cooperate with this investigation.
You’re professionals, huh? So about this on-site investigation…
As you’d expect, we’re all going to space!
[Bay Tower Base, Hangar]
…
(EnRyuu. GaoGaiGar. CV: Shinichi Yamada)
…
(Goldymarg. GaoGaiGar. CV: Hisao Egawa)
(Faces are darkened)
It’s gotten quiet here… So your Super AIs really have stopped working…
…
(HyouRyuu. GaoGaiGar. CV: Shinichi Yamada)
…
(Volfogg. GaoGaiGar. CV: Katsuyuki Konishi) (Both faces are also darkened)
…I’m sorry, my friends. I was unable to assist you in the final battle against the Zondarians…
Gaooooooooo!
(Galeon. GaoGaiGar. CV: A lion)
? What’s wrong, Galeon?
Galeon says they don’t care about that.
Guy…
You weren’t there during the briefing, so you must have been visiting these robots.
They must be his friends.
The heroes of GGG’s Mobile Unit… They’re my dear comrades who fought alongside me in the past.
So these are the heroes who protected Tokyo… But they’re not moving right now, are they?
Yeah… This is the price of victory against the Zondarians… It’s been half a year since then and their Super AIs are still dormant.
Half a year… When will they reactivate?
Honestly, we don’t know. It depends on their self-repair programs.
But I saw on TV GaoGaiGar rose again after the final battle. That’s because Galeon, GaoGaiGar’s core, was awake, right? So then the other robots must…
No. Galeon doesn’t have a Super AI. On the contrary, he’s not even a GGG robot.
Not a GGG robot?
We don’t know who built Galeon. He’s a giant black box of insane technology. Two years ago, he suddenly fell from space. We’ve been protecting him ever since.
So maybe the other robots won’t wake up after all…
…
No, they will wake up. Even if the chances are extremely low… They’re heroes.
Heroes…
Heroes… That’s right.
Then I will do what I must until they return.
Now that you’re back to normal, they should be more at ease.
Everything should be ready by now. Falsaber, let’s go to space.
Okay!
(EnRyuu, HyouRyuu, Volfogg, Goldy… My friends, I’m going!)
[???]
Did you find it yet?
Yes. It’s possible this is the place we’ve been looking for.
Right now it’s still a distortion. It shouldn’t even be a possibility.
The Guardian has also gone into space. Those who are close are attracted to each other… If this is the place we seek, the warp will grow in strength. And then…
…
It must be erased. In order to return the world to the way it should be…
[Satellite Orbit, Cargo Ship]
So this is space! It’s so dark it feels like it’ll suck you right in!
But it’s not just darkness. You can see the beautiful stars! Ah! What’s that big metal cylinder-like thing?
That’s called a colony. I was told there’s lots of people living inside!
You two are so innocent. You’ve become good friends when I wasn’t looking.
There’s something to be said about how they get along so well. Besides, we haven’t really had a chance to rest after we came back to the Earth Sphere.
There’s something about space that’s so fascinating… I was once an astronaut, so I know how they feel.
Guy, you were an astronaut before you joined GGG?
Only for a little while. But now that I think about it, are you sure about this? Unlike Koji and Sayaka who’re our collaborators, you guys didn’t need to come to space with us.
Mom taught me that if you don’t work, you don’t eat. I’m doing what I can. Maybe I can help with the Fold Fault investigation?
Do you want to? Fold Faults are far more terrifying than you think. If you hit a Fault while Folding, you might never be able to leave the Fold Space again.
There’s no escape?
Don’t scare the kid, Aisha. We’re not Folding in the first place, so there’s nothing to worry about.
Youta, I appreciate your straightforwardness, but you tend to get carried away. You need to work on that.
Um… I don’t quite know how to respond to that.
Aisha’s exaggerating, but Fold Faults are dangerous. One time we hit one while we were Folding to another star system…
A-are you okay?
For better or worse, the nature of Fold Faults have changed over the past six months.
In addition to the existing Faults, smaller scale Faults are popping up. It’s not at the point where you can’t escape, but it seems there’s a big time lag until you can Defold.
We’re lucky we were only gone for a few days, but we could have been trapped for months in real time.
(TL Note: Gotta play Macross 30)
It wasn’t luck. It was the YF-30. The Valkyrie Aisha developed!
Mmmm. Flattery will get you everywhere!
Wow Aisha. You developed a Valkyrie?
That’s supposed to be my main job. My doctorates aren’t just for show.
What’s more, she even serves as the branch manager for the SMS in a different star system. Truly a woman of both beauty and brains.
You’re a genius, Aisha! I admire you!
Fufu. I’m happy about the praise, but you’re a little mistaken, Yuki. I’m not just a genius. I’m a “beautiful” genius!
…That’s what you told me the first time we met…
Looks aside… I’m amazed a Valkyrie can break through a Fold Fault on its own.
The YF-30 Chronos is my masterpiece. It’s the only plane able to perfectly break through the Fold Space. …At least that’s what I want to say, but we pushed it too hard when we came here and now it’s broken.
The WSO is taking responsibility for repairing the YF-30. Although it’s not easy getting the Fold Quartz needed for its central unit.
We expect great things from your organization and its high tech science department. We’re counting on you!
Flattery will get you nowhere. Anyway, we’ve arrived at the investigation area. Let’s get this over with.
? This place…
What’s the matter, Falsaber?
…It’s nothing.
(Something inside me is tingling… What the heck could it be…?)
Chapter 4: Missing Existence
How’s it looking, Aisha?
The space here certainly is more unstable than anywhere else. There’s quite a few Fold Faults. In fact… It’s not stabilizing at all. It’s becoming more and more unstable.
Are we safe here?
I’ll have the necessary data in a moment. Once I’m done, we’ll leave…
? This waveform… This phenomenon has an epicenter somewhere around here… But this is…
Mobile weapons are approaching our location! This reaction is…
Everyone, watch out! It’s Destrook!
Why are they here?
You can think about it later! We need to protect the ship!
Leon, let’s go too!
Geez. It’s a good thing I had a Valkyrie ready for something like this!
Super Robot Wars BX - Planet Cradle
You’re here, Falsaber!
Calm down. Don’t forget about the mission, alright?
I know! I won’t let a bunch of chumps get the better of me!
Wow, fighting in space really is different than on the ground!
Hey, are you okay? Your movements are a bit shaky!
I never thought we’d fight up here! I just can’t imagine proper movements!
Special Lieutenant Blanchett, Lieutenant Sakaki, Youta and the others are inexperienced in space combat! We need to support them!
Roger! But just call me Aisha. Rank doesn’t matter here!
Same here! I ask everyone else to do the same!
A-alright!
I wonder if we’ll be alright…
They’ll protect us for sure. After all, it’s Leon and our friends.
Yeah… Both Youta and Falsaber are doing their best… Both of you, don’t give up!
Even in a situation like this, she still worries about others… That’s just like her…
At this point, we can’t even complain! Let’s do it, Falsaber!
Yeah! Destrook, I won’t let you near our ship!
First up, the new units!

[YF-25 Prophecy (Fighter and Battleroid mode)]
The basic Valkyrie. It has Fighter mode for increased mobility and movement, and it has Battleroid mode for increased firepower and defense. The YF-25 doesn’t have anything extraordinary, but it’ll hold up well enough until its upgrade much later in the game.

[VF-19 Excalibur (Fighter and Battleroid mode)]
Same as the YF-25, but Aisha’s Excalibur has two things that separate it from Leon’s craft. The VF-19 has a resupply module, which at the cost of 10 will, will fully restore a unit’s EN and ammo. She also has a long ranged sniper rifle in Battleroid mode, which makes it perfect for support attacks
Stick close and let Destrook come to you. Even though Koji and Youta are complaining, their mechs have A rank in space so they’re fine. You could always use the Dividing Driver, but it’s not strictly necessary right now.
Leon, um, be careful!
(Phone)
Thanks for the concern, Mina. But have you forgotten already? I’ve fought a lot of bandits back then! My skills aren’t getting any duller!
First they were in our town, and now they’re in space.
(Phone)
They really do seem like otherworldly invaders. They have a wider area of operation than the Jaaku Empire!
They rarely move out in the open. The fact that they’re here means they’re here for a reason! Be careful, Youta!
At the start of turn 2…
Haa… Haa… I’m slowly getting used to this…
Calm down, Youta. I will help out your imagination. Just fight as you always do.
Sorry, Falsaber. I’m already holding your back. How pathetic of me.
We’ve detected an anomaly! The space there is rapidly becoming unstable! The center point is that giant piece of debris!
(Phone)
Finally…
T-the debris just vanished! What just happened!?
Look at the zoomed in feed!
Is that…a spear? It looks like an old-school mobile suit weapon or something.
Is that what’s causing this phenomenon?
That spear…
What are they…
Target recovery complete. We’re retreating.
(All Destrook enemies retreat)
They took that spear…
Was that why they were here?
Falsaber, you sounded like you knew what that spear was…
There’s more spatial anomalies! All units, be on alert!
Is something else happening!?
It’s different! This reaction is…a Defold!
Super Robot Wars BX - THE TARGET
(TL Note: This is the worst song in the game. I’m only putting it here for completion’s sake but I hate it to death. If you’re not on NG+, this is the only Frontier BGM you get for the vast majority of the game. Swap it with Planet Cradle if you value your sanity.)
Where am I… I thought I was on the Vajra’s planet…
That looks like a fighter plane and…
…
(Queen Frontier. Macross Frontier. CV: ???)
The hell!? Is that an alien lifeform!?
That Valkyrie is a YF-29! And what’s more, the ID code says Alto!?
Aren’t those Vajra!?
So those are the trans-dimensional life forms that the Protoculture, mankind’s ancestors, feared…
They don’t really look that scary…
Yeah, that’s what he said the last time we met.
This is Siegfried 1. It’s been a while, Alto.
Another SMS unit? But why…
!!
!? They’re…
Argh! The Vajra are after us!?
What’s going on!? Do they think we’re gonna hurt them?
Stop it, Vajra! Why are you attacking them!?
!!
Where are you going, Vajra!?
Kyaaaa!
Everyone, pull yourselves together! If this continues, we’ll be wiped out!
We have no choice… We’ll intercept the Vajra!
What about you, Alto?
Dammit, is there no other way!?
Skull 4, acknowledged! Let’s work together!

[YF-29 Durandal (Fighter and Battleroid mode)]
This is one of the best Valkyries in the game. End-game tier for usability. It’s leagues better than the Prophecy and has some additional long ranged weaponry. Enjoy it while you can…
Pull Alto back to the group and, well, group up. Take down the Vajra as they get close. They all have Energy Shields, which reduce incoming damage by 1000. Try to hit them hard and fast. If Guy’s or Youta’s EN gets too low, have Aisha recover it.
Thankfully, the wonderful individual who provided me this save already swapped out THE TARGET with “Sayonara no Tsubasa ~the end of triangle”. It’s fitting for an endgame Valkyrie like the Durandal.
They were so docile until just a moment ago… Between these guys and that spear Destrook took, there’s too many things I don’t understand!
The output isn’t as high as it should be… Was the Philosopher’s Stone damaged!? I won’t be able to hear the Vajra’s voice like this… Dammit!
These Vajra aren’t being controlled by implants! What the heck happened!? Alto, I’ll hear your story later!
It’s been a while since I’ve been in a real fight. It’s a bit of a pain… This special model of mine was made using custom parts thanks to my branch manager privileges! You can do it, my Valkyrie!
The trans-dimensional lifeform Vajra… I’ve only heard stories about them from Dad, but I never thought I’d get to see it in person. According to Leon, they should be friendly. Shame we have no choice but to fight!
They really are like insects, both in appearance and movement! I thought that alien life were only humanoids, like the Zentradi or Zondarians!
It’s shortsighted to assume that in this vast galaxy there’s only one type of species. You need to have a broader perspective.
Please don’t lecture me! You’re not my dad!
There are no bosses, so just wipe out the Vajra to clear the map.
I’ve confirmed that all Vajra in this sector have been wiped out. No sign of any Destrook either.
Dang it. I have to fight the Vajra again… What’s going on here…?
I’m sorry, Valkyrie pilot. It seems we forced you into a battle you weren’t happy about.
Alto, come aboard our ship for now. Your YF-29 seems pretty banged up, but the internals must be worse.
…
Hm? What’s wrong, Alto?
Honestly, a lot has happened and I’m still wrapping my head around it. But my first question is…
Siegfried 1… How do you know me?
!?
[Satellite Orbit, Cargo Ship]
You Folded six months ago? Seriously?
I’m just as surprised as you are.
Sorry, can you repeat that story again for me? I know about what your migrant fleet was doing and about your fight against the trans-dimensional Vajra…
In the first place, the migrant fleets are still functioning properly?
I’ve heard about it, but it seems the people on Earth really weren’t told anything at all… Man, it feels like the very existence of our fleet is only a myth now.
With the never ending wars and the federal government’s constant reorganization, it’s no excuse, but Earth is so overwhelmed that we’re even neglecting the colonies.
I don’t particularly care. I know we can’t afford to be picky. You could say that our battle against the Vajra is similar.
But you were able to eventually understand the Vajra, right? Even if the battle started from a misunderstanding, it’s clear that the Vajra are intelligent beings with hearts.
Yea. I even… They even sang to them. I believe that even without words, we can express our true feelings to each other…
Amazing… It’s like the legendary Lynn Minmay from that video I watched earlier!
The war against the Zentradi, a race of aliens who only knew conflict, was ended by the song of a single girl… The resemblance is there.
Maybe we’ll eventually coexist with the Vajra like with the Zentradi… But we’re getting off topic.
So you warped together after a lot of things happened, right?
Y-yeah. Kinda…
(TL Note: Watch Macross Frontier)
Even so, the Vajra are capable of Zero Time Folding. It seems this situation is much more serious than I thought.
Um… Back to the original topic, Leon met Alto about six months ago, right?
Ah, about that. That’s how Aisha and I remember it.
We can’t thank Alto and his friends enough for all of their help.
(TL Note: Play Macross 30)
You mean that story about me getting caught up in a battle for the ruins on some planet? Sorry, but I don’t remember ever doing that.
Hmm… Does that mean Alto lost his memory like me?
He was fighting with his fleet at the time. The timeline is inconsistent.
That’s right… The Alto we met already knew how to understand the Vajra.
But what happened at the time was really weird, so the ruins may have had something to do with this.
…Honestly, it seems absurd. Even through Folding, I’ve never heard of such a time difference. There’s so many other confusing things going on too…
I’m sorry! You’re familiar to me, so I ended up asking you a lot of questions.
It’s fine. I might have acted the same way if I was in your shoes.
Since we don’t have enough information to make a proper judgement, let’s put aside the discrepancies between Alto and Leon’s memories.
That would be helpful. I’m very curious about the state of that Fold Fault.
If you’re going to rejoin the Frontier Fleet, we’ll need to figure out how to deal with that Fault first. Tsubasa, what’s the surrounding area like?
There’s still some fluctuations, but after Lieutenant Saotome and the Vajra warped here, the massive instability from earlier subsided.
So that spear from earlier was the cause?
We can’t say for sure, but since Destrook took it, there might be a connection.
Hey Falsaber, do you know anything? You seem to have recognized that spear earlier.
I don’t know about the spear per se… Rather, I should say I’m not entirely sure.
What do you mean?
I felt something when we arrived in this sector and when that spear appeared. But I don’t know what I felt… I can’t answer that right now.
Maybe it’s like deja vu?
If we can find out why Destrook took that spear, we might be able to find out the answer…
[???]
So that’s what was over there. It seems that wasn’t the place we were looking for.
Lord Valgeass, I apologize for not meeting your expectations.
I don’t care. If it’s survived after all this time, I don’t think it’ll be that easy to find. Besides, what you found wasn’t a complete waste, was it…
Sir… It should be a key to our plans…
At the same time, it might be quite an obstacle for us…
No, I’ll make it useful for us. I know I will…
[Satellite Orbit, Cargo Ship]
By the way, Tsubasa, do you know where the Vajra Queen went?
It only just left this sector… Based on its direction, it doesn’t seem to be heading towards Earth.
Is something bothering you?
While the other Vajra were fighting us, the Queen was the only one who left the area, right? I thought there might be something to that.
Since she’s the Queen, maybe she just leaves it up to the other Vajra?
Maybe. But if there’s any clues, I want to look into it. If the Vajra attack again and we have to fight them…
…
…Let’s go back to GGG first. Did you finish collecting the data?
It doesn’t seem like we got anything new, but I might be wrong.
Now that the spatial fluctuations have subsided, there’s no point in staying here. Besides, there’s also the matter of him to work out.
So we’re going back to Earth. Are you alright with that, Alto? …Or rather, Lieutenant Saotome?
Just Alto. That’s what everyone in my SMS platoon called me.
I see. Then you can call me Leon too.
Ok. I’ll do that. It may be strange for you, but I’m looking forward to working with you.
Well then, we’ll continue our course for atmospheric re-entry…
[Phone ringing]
An emergency call from GGG?
I’m sorry if you’re still tired from that battle. We just got an SOS from the federal army.
(On the phone)
An SOS!? What happened, Chief!?
It’s at the Earth Federation Forces HQ in satellite orbit, the Big Ring… A large force of Vagans are invading!
[???] (Somewhere on Mars)
I heard you succeeded in capturing the latest target. How many did you lose?
(???, face darkened)
An attack was unexpected at that stage, but thanks to a quick deployment of the experimental equipment, the damage was essentially zero. Lord Zanald reported similar results were achieved in other locations.
(???, face darkened)
Transfer the final target to R&D. Conduct further experiments.
Sir!
Their existence will be the foundation and will be our guide…
To Eden, the Vagan’s ultimate wish!
(Fezarl Ezelcant. Gundam AGE. CV: Ryūzaburō Ōtomo)
