Video of this chapter

Last time, Akito was teleported back in time to the Moon.

Welcome to the first intermission chapter of the game. Each route split decision comes with one of these.

Before we get into it, I want to talk about this game’s Pair Up system. Much like K, L, UX, and the OG games from OGs onwards, units are deployed in squads of two. You should have noticed that from the last chapter. I want to go over some of the specifics here, since this chapter is nothing but talking.

To keep things short and sweet, here’s a quick rundown in no particular order.

If I’m missing anything important or got something wrong, let me know and I’ll edit the list later.

Without further ado, let’s get started on this intermission! I might have forgotten to change the chapter title in the screenshots/video, but you can just assume it’s an extension from the last stage.

[Colony Builder, Reception Room]
Thank you for coming. Let’s get straight into the topic at hand.
Without a body check? Aren’t you too trusting to be the head of your family??
(Suberoa Zinnerman. Gundam Unicorn. CV: Hideaki Tezuka)
I admit it’s hard to trust people, but unless I do this, you’ll always be suspicious of me.
I was told that you would entrust the “Laplace's Box” to me. And now you’re saying that you’ll only give us the “key” to the Box. I wonder what my superiors will think.
Of course, I intend to leave the Box in your care. I’ll also be returning some VIPs that are currently being cared for in my mansion.
…Alright. But what changed your mind? You’re the head of the Vist Foundation, so I wouldn’t think you’d just hand over Laplace’s Box to an outsider, let alone us “Sleeves”.
The incident two weeks ago has accelerated Nergal’s research efforts. That will increase the federal army’s power, which will lead to an expansion of all the conflicts in the Earth Sphere and end with the stagnation of humanity.
In that case, I’d really rather you just give us the Box directly. First of all, we don’t even know what this so-called Box is.
Laplace’s Box has the power to change the future. No, I should say it has the power to restore the future to what it’s supposed to be. But that doesn’t mean just anyone can handle it. If used improperly, it could destroy the world.
So that’s why you’re giving us the key to see if we’re worthy?
If you’re narrow-minded, the Box will mean nothing to you.
Narrow-minded in what way?
…Such as the restoration of Zeon.

My lord, excuse me for interrupting.
(Gael Chan. Gundam Unicorn. CV: Yutaka Aoyama)
What is it?
Outside the colony right now…

[Vist Mansion, Drawing Room]
The colony is quiet… It’s almost like this silence extends to the entire world. Maybe that’s how a boy like him can exist…
(Audrey Burne. Gundam Unicorn. CV: Ayumi Fujimura)

[Industrial 7, Forest]
(This is a flashback. All portraits are washed out)
You saved me…?
I was shocked. To think someone would be falling out of the sky even inside of a colony…
Which way is the entrance to the Colony Builder?
Huh?
I don’t have time! There are people I need to meet and speak to! If we don’t hurry, we won’t be able to stop it!
What do you mean? You won’t be able to stop what?
War…
W-war…!?
Sorry. I’ll ask someone else for directions. Thank you for your help.
Wait up!
Huh?
You can’t walk around alone. I’ll go with you.

[Vist Mansion, Great Hall]
(Still a flashback)
You go home. You don’t know who she is.
Sure, I don’t know. But I can’t just leave. She was being chased by some scary people. I can’t just leave her alone!

Audrey, I’ll help you. You came here to stop a war, right? Does this man have that kind of power? The way you say “war” is different from how they talk about it on TV. It’s more serious. I know it’s frightening, but…
Banagher…
My heart hasn’t stopped pounding ever since I saw you fall from the sky this morning. Things that didn’t click earlier are starting to make sense. For the first time, I felt like I had a purpose.

I don’t care who you really are. Tell me you need me! And then I’ll…
I don’t need you!
!?
You shouldn’t have anything to do with me anymore.
Aud…rey…?

[Vist Mansion, Drawing Room]
(Back to the present)
I have to stop the war that will break out when the Box is passed to them… That’s the purpose that was given to me…
[Explosions]
An explosion!? Inside the colony!?
[The lights go out]

This is…
Don’t move.
(???)
!?
As long as you behave, I won’t do anything violent.

Come on. This way…
[Punching sound]
Gaaaaah!
Huh…?
This is Ghost 1. I’ve made successful contact with the target.
(???. Black Box)
Who are you?
Follow me. I’ll guide you to the Vist Family Head… No, I’ll bring you to where the “key” is.

The sooner you come, the better. Else Laplace’s Box will fall into Zeon’s hands.
…!
…Lead the way.

[Industrial 7, City]
[Explosion]
A battle between mobile suits… Inside the colony!? Which army do they belong to?
One of them looks like a Federation Zeta type, but the other one is from Neo Zeon I think?
Esther, Marco, Dennis, Tom…! Everyone, where did you go!?
Dammit, what’s going on? Is this another war!?
War…! Takuya, keep Micott safe. If you go to the dock, you’ll find a Federation battleship there.
What about you?
There’s someone I need to help!
[Banagher runs off]
H-hey! Banagher!
Banagher! Don’t leave me behind! Don’t go! BANAGHEEEEERRRR!

[Industrial 7, Hidden Hangar]
Gael… What’s happening?
It appears the Sleeves have already left the mansion. But the Federation Special Forces that have already breached the mansion likely came in through a different route.
(Phone)
O-our century-long partnership is now finished… Ugh…
My lord, are you…
Don’t worry about me… You must fulfill your final role as instructed. Got it?
…Very well… My lord… Please…
[Hangs up]
I’m sorry… Gael… At least the Unicorn will…
The Unicorn… So this mobile suit is the “key”.
It seems you’re safe… Very good…
I owe it all to him. He helped me get here… Huh? He’s gone? He was there just a moment ago…
It doesn’t matter… I can already guess who… In a situation like this, there are only a few people who could have brought you to the Key, and none of them are from the Federation or Zeon…
What’s going on?
This is all Martha’s doing… As you can guess from the battle outside, negotiations with the Sleeves have fallen apart due to Federation intervention… Hehehe… Although it’s not quite the form you wanted, your wish will be granted…
I…
Audrey!
Banagher!? Why are you…
I don’t know… I just ran as fast as I could… But I somehow knew where you were…
Banagher, you…
Well that…sounds like something a Newtype would say… Ugh!
Are you injured?
It’s the result of my own incompetence… I’m too far gone…
What’s wrong with you? You always talk big, but in the end you didn’t do anything. Audrey came to you to try and stop the war! You had the power to do so…
Power, huh…
My friends are dead! They all had plans for tomorrow! They all had plans for next week! That’s… That’s not how a human should die! At least not to me!
Y-your mother also died tragically…
Huh?
Humans are different from animals… A person’s death shouldn’t be taken lightly… And yet, we adults keep spilling blood for little reason… Now is the time for humans to discipline themselves and regain their dignity… In order to keep alive the hope that was spun a century ago…
Showing the world the power and kindness of humanity’s potential…
What does that mean?
A long time ago… That was…
Only humans possess an internal god… A power beyond what we have now… And that god’s name is Possibility! You’ve come this far. Are you confident your feelings won’t waver?
I…
That girl is carrying a heavy burden… To follow her, you must be prepared to bear the weight of the world…

…I don’t have the confidence or resolve… But even so, I…
Banagher…
Then take this!
[Pushing sounds]
Gah…!
Kyaa!
[The mobile suit’s hatch closes]

[Industrial 7, Mobile Suit Cockpit]
What did you…
This is…
[Beeping sounds]
Something got registered?
From now on… It will only listen to your commands… If you are deemed a worthy pilot, the “Unicorn” will bestow upon you unparalleled power…and open the way to Laplace’s Box…
(Outside the mobile suit)
Laplace’s Box…?
It’s a curse that has bound the Vist Family for a century… If it’s used properly, it could bring light to this dark age… Just like the things he created…
Who’s he?
Not wanting to be caught up in this curse, she took you away from me… You will come to hate me… Just like Anna did…
Why did you say my mom’s name…!?
Cardeas… You’re…
Guh…!
What are you doing!? Hurry up and get into a mobile suit!
Go…
…!
You’ve decided…to help her out…

Don’t be afraid… If you believe in your own potential and do what you can, the path will open up naturally…
Yes… This is my choice…
Please forgive me… I wanted to…know you more…
…! D-DAD!
Banagher…
[Fades to white as the hangar explodes]

My wish has come true… Anna…

[Industrial 7, Mobile Suit Cockpit]
Kuh… Uuuu… That’s right… I…
Banagher, please activate the Unicorn.
Audrey?
You may think I’m a heartless woman, but there’s still something I have to do. To that end, I need the possibility that is you.
That is me…
…My only hope… The Beast of Possibility… That symbol of hope…
Banagher…
Mom… I’m sorry… I…
…Let’s go, Audrey!
Ok!

[Anaheim Facility, Office]
It was a bit unexpected that the Unicorn would be deployed and fight the Sleeves, but…
Yes. The Unicorn will still achieve our goal. Father… No, I’m now the head of the Vist Family…
(Alberto Vist. Gundam Unicorn. CV: Wataru Takagi) (Phone)
Thanks for this good news. The Nahel Argama will remain as is. Send them to Von Braun on the Moon. If that’s all… Thank you for your hard work, Alberto.
…Yes.
[He hangs up]
Pardon me for the interruption, Commander. This matter is quite complicated.
I don’t care. If it was something important, then I would have gotten a report of it.
(Phone)
Heh. So true. Moving on, the battle at Kawasaki City seems to have been hard fought.
That’s not something the Anaheim CEO’s wife should be concerned about.
If it was just a small skirmish, then you’d be right. But that battle had a manned Boson Jump… The success of a Bio-Boson Jump has been confirmed, yes?
You get information fast…
Are you forgetting our HQ is on the Moon? To ensure that other companies like Nergal or GAIL stay in our dust, we make sure to follow up on even the smallest details. That includes your agreement with Nergal and the formation of an independent armed group.

But to think that you would partner with Nergal instead of us… Was it your call? I believe your daughter is the Captain of one of their ships.
The Queen of the Moon sure enjoys meddling.
Anaheim is not so small that we can afford to play nice.
The establishment of that unit was entirely my decision. With the current state of the federal army, it would be difficult to counter numerous threats. For that reason, you should be well aware that it was urgent to create a unit that could move flexibly.
I wish you’d give us a piece of the pie. You know what the situation is right now.
…You already have your own private force to do whatever you want, so how dare you say that.
Hehe… If there are any developments in the situation, I would appreciate your cooperation. For both of our sakes…

[Rostroulan, Office]
“The current situation”. Pah…
Indeed. In a way, she’s acting to prevent unnecessary conflict between humans. But it’s merely an act for an ulterior motive to obtain a tool for her own political struggle.
Commander, your judgement is impaired when you let your emotions get the best of you. Would you like some iced tea?
I’m sorry, Admiral Misumaru. I should have stayed calm…
The Earth Sphere has been in chaos due to constant wars and conflicts, but we’ve managed to keep it together this far. Of course, it’s all as fragile as thin ice…
It’s ironic that we were able to make an agreement with Nergal under these circumstances… I hope that this will hurt that fox a little bit…
At the very least, it’s a successful deterrent. I’d like to say it’s a good start.
In order to end the war with the Vagans and Jovian Lizards, we can’t allow the federal army to be exploited for personal gain.
Yes. No matter who wants to…

[Luna Base, Office]
What happened to Akito Tenkawa, the test subject that was sent to Nergal’s research facility?
Two weeks have passed since he appeared on the Moon. Their testing to analyze the principles of Bio-Boson Jumping is still ongoing. But it seems they haven’t found anything substantial, such as how he was able to transcend time…
(Girard Spriggan. Gundam AGE. CV: Ryōka Yuzuki) (Phone)
If it were that easy to achieve results, the federal army would have started using Bio-Boson Jumps a long time ago. But Nergal was the one who built the Nadesico. I’m sure they’ll achieve some results soon.
Yes. Considering where that ship’s technology came from…
Captain Girard Spriggan, you will remain at Nergal’s research facility and continue your mission.
You mean I will continue to act as Akito Tenkawa’s guard?
I mean it is a Bio-Boson Jump research facility. Who knows, it might be targeted again like the incident that brought him here… I’ll be counting on you, Captain Girard.
Roger.
[She hangs up]
Heh. Monitoring the subject, eh? In a way, it’s a mission that suits her well… A successful Bio-Boson Jumper will be useful for our future…

[Nadesico, Bridge]
So Akito is at the Nergal research facility on the Moon?
Yes he is. Nergal is dying to find out more about how he got there.
So after he saved us all, they’re just going to treat him like a guinea pig. How thoughtful…
Please don’t think of us as a black company. In the first place, everything he did in Kawasaki was his own decision.

I don’t really get all this complicated mumbo jumbo, but basically Akito has been waiting all this time for me to come and pick him up! And so, the Nadesico will go to the Moon to get him!
Oh no you don’t! Even if this wasn’t a military ship, you can’t just go wherever you want!
It’s fine.
Admiral Munetake?
I just got orders from HQ. We’re going to the Moon anyway.
Directly from HQ… Don’t tell me we’re going to the front lines to fight the Vagans…
…Admiral, a word?
Yes?
Although Nergal has a partnership with the military, we still have the right to veto orders if we so choose. Please understand that as the Captain, I, Yurika Misumaru, will refuse any orders that go against the consensus of this ship's crew.
The Captain is so cool…
So you’re saying you’d even refuse to fight?
Yes.
Well, your orders right now are to rendezvous with some battleships and their personnel. There are meetup points on the Earth and the Moon.
What’s all this about?
The federal army suffered a major blow at the battle at Big Ring, remember? They’re rushing to reorganize.
In line with this, a new Nergal ship is being constructed at Luna Base on the Moon. Also in the Union town of Olivernotes, adjustments are underway for an old battleship.
So those two ships will join our force. But between Luna Base and Olivernotes, which should we go to first?
Both.
Huh?
HQ has ordered us to split the unit into two and assign both halves to each location.
You say that so casually. We’re not just running an errand.
In a sense, that’s what we’re doing. There shouldn’t be any fighting involved. This ship’s computer “Omoikane” will provide us with the best routes to avoid the enemy.
Even so, the probability of encountering an enemy isn’t zero.
Thoughts, Yurika?
I understand. I accept this mission.
How honest of you. Is it just to go see the man you love?
Of course there’s that, but above all, the current Commander-in-Chief is Commander Algreus.
Huh?
Um… Captain Misumaru? I don’t really understand the significance of that.
You don’t?
I think it’s probably because… Commander Algreus was working to stop corruption in the federal army for the past 20 years or so. Surely a person like that wouldn’t give out such unreasonable orders without a good reason. Something like that?
That’s right. I knew GGG's Captain would understand!
Now that you mention it, in “Celestial Being The Movie”, he was portrayed as a brilliant strategist who tried to suppress the A-Laws and other extremists.
Our Captain’s logic seems to skip a few steps…
So Captain, how are we gonna divide the troops?
The ones going to the Moon with the Nadesico will be the members of SMS.
Considering the possibility of space combat, that seems like the logical choice.
And Guy will lead the Olivernotes team of Koji, Sayaka, and Tsubasa.
Roger that, Captain.
Um, what about us?
You haven’t told us where we’re going.
Ah, right. We do have enough personnel on both sides already… Falsaber, you choose where you want to go.
Me?
Sounds good to me. I mean you’re the one doing the fighting.
Ok then… We’ll…

Welcome to the first route split in the game! Will Youta, Yuki, and Falsaber head to the Moon with the Nadesico, or will they head to Olivernotes?

>Head to the Moon with the cast of Martian Successor Nadesico, Macross Frontier, and Macross 30.

>Head to Olivernotes with the cast of GaoGaiGar, Shin Mazinger, and Mazinkaiser SKL.

As an aside, this game is designed for you to get every secret in a single playthrough. It doesn’t really matter which route you take, but some route combinations will make certain secrets easier than others. I do have a “canon” route in mind, but of course I will cover both routes. There are secret conditions on both sides, but all secrets in this game have mandatory and optional requirements, with optionals usually relegated to route splits. I’ll point that out when they pop up.

For the “non-canon” route, Falsaber decides to stay with the Nadesico and head to the Moon.

We’ll stay on the Nadesico. I want us to get more space experience.
We’ll get to see the Moon!
If we were just tourists, that wouldn’t be a problem. Space has gotten more dangerous since the last time we were up there.
Although the reorganized space defence force is still fighting, the enemy has space superiority.
But being constantly on guard is depressing. Looks like we’ll have to rely on this “Omoikane” thing.
So we can take it easy for a bit?
Even with the Phase Transition Engine, it’ll still take a while to get to the Moon.
Well then, let’s get something to eat. Hikaru, Izumi, my treat.
Sorry, but I have to pass. I want to do one last push before we get there.
You seem fired up. What are you doing?
Is it interesting!?
It’s not a big deal. I’m just in the middle of watching all of that Gekiganger anime.
Oh, really?
Sorry if that ruins your expectations, Yuki.
GGG had a free spirit, but this ship puts them to shame.
We allow the crew to partake in most forms of entertainment during their free time to keep morale up. It’s one of Nadesico’s selling points.
So you just happen to have a 100 year old anime in your library? Just what you’d expect from a major corporation’s battleship…
No, I heard that our Gekiganger collection was Tenkawa’s personal property. It was originally owned by another pilot though.
I’m just borrowing it for personal use. Come to think of it, Meg also borrowed it from Akito once before.
Y-yeah I did…
Meg, are you alright? You seem a bit down.
Sorry… I know I’ve returned as an operator, but I’m just not feeling it…
Everyone has off days. Why don’t you take a break?
Captain Yurika, what do you think?
I agree. If you collapse, it’ll all be for nothing.
Thank you…
[She leaves]
She seems to be really in pain…
Megumi… She and Akito were lovers, right? Maybe something happened between them.
That’s not true! Only Akito and I are…
Yes yes, that’s enough.
There’s no point in worrying about other people’s love affairs. Instead of worrying about that, think of a way to counter those Gekiganger-types. There’s no guarantee the same strategy will work next time.
I see… I think I can leave it to you.
Leave what to me?
I’ve decided. Youta, Akatsuki will take care of you while you’re in space.
WHAT!?
Huh? Cross, you’re not coming with us?
I have to look after Koji. I was watching Akatsuki in the previous battle and certainly has great skill and insight. He’ll be a good example to follow.
I have no objections. It’ll be good for you to learn from a top-class pilot.
If Cross and Falsaber think so, then I’m inclined to agree…
Hey, don’t I get a say in this?
…I’m counting on you, Nagare Akatsuki.
Hey, personal space! Your face is intimidating enough! Ugh, you really shouldn’t ask someone like me… Don’t blame me if something happens.
Akatsuki, I’ll do my best! Soon I’ll be able to go one-on-one with a Gekiganger-type!
Oh, don’t worry about that. The federal army is working up a countermeasure to their Gekiganger-types. We’re planning on giving them the one we picked up so they can analyze it at Luna Base.
Eh? I’ve already asked Uribatake to take a look at it.
W-what did you just say!?

[Nadesico, Hangar]
W-what the hell is up with this Gekiganger-type? No matter how you look at it, it’s a manned weapon!
Guh… I managed to escape before they found me, but I can’t just rot away in a place like this. Not until we defeat the evil Earthlings…
(???. Face darkened)

The following is the “canon” route, where the gang decides to go to Olivernotes.

We’ll head to Olivernotes. It seems Guy hasn’t fully recovered yet.
Thank you, Falsaber.
Olivernotes… Is it different from New York City?
Probably? There aren’t many cities on the planet like New York City.
It is… Although there is a military base there, the town itself is quite relaxing. It hasn’t been touched in the last war, so it should be a nice change of pace.
Captain Yuuki, you seem to know a lot about the place.
I have colleagues over there. Oh right, Yuki. I heard there’s a great hot dog stand and a bakery over there.
Really!?
Well that perked you right up. If that’s all you care about… Youta, you must be having a hard time.
Haha… I’m used to it. Plus, it’s hard to dislike how she is now compared to when we first met.
How she was before?
When she first came to live with us, she just sat there, stared into space, and didn’t say much at all.

Looking at how she is now, I find that hard to believe…
Right? I agree. So I’m happy she’s finding interest in a lot of different things.
I see…
Hey Youta! Don’t talk about my backstory without permission!
It’s fine, isn’t it? At least I’m being truthful. In the first place, you…
Youta…
Hmm? Guy?
…You must protect her no matter what.
…Of course.
Even though it’s the Captain’s wish, it seems like some pretty average girls have been assigned to the ship… I’d like to think they could handle a mission as big as receiving another battleship.
About that battleship, Admiral. Given the current situation, I’m surprised we have the resources to allocate an entire ship to our force.
It’s not one of our normal resources. We’re just using something that’s been gathering dust for a while now.
Huh?
That face you make is annoying. Well, at least that ship isn’t prone to fall apart…
What kind of ship is it?
It’s the “Diva”.
The Diva!?
I know that word! It means goddess!
Idiot, that’s not what he’s talking about. Admiral, is it that Diva?
It seems you’ve studied a bit of space history. Yes, the ship that’s about to join us is a 50 year old battleship that played a central role in our conflict against the Vagans numerous times.

[Olivernotes Base, Dock]
Phew. With this, 90% of the Diva’s maintenance is complete. You guys didn’t do too bad. Even though it’s outside of your wheelhouse, I needed the help.
(Rody Madorna. Gundam AGE. CV: Masakazu Morita)
Don’t worry about it. I owe you a lot for helping me repair the Wingle.
(Hurricane. Mazinkaiser SKL. CV: Ryoko Shiraishi)
We’ve only just joined the WSO, so this is helpful for us.
(Flash. Mazinkaiser SKL. CV: Eri Kitamura)
But why do you want to get such an old ship in working order? Even though the electrical system and OS are updated, the ship is nearly 50 years old.
(Misty. Mazinkaiser SKL. CV: Ai Shimizu)
That ship is essential to winning the war against the Vagans.
Flit!?
It’s because of this ship that we can use the savior that will end the war… “Gundam”.
