Now that the gang’s all here, here’s my group. The squads are Kio/Alto, Koji/Sayaka, Youta/Yuuki, Guy/Shanalua, Obright/Seric, Jin/Aisha, Akito/Akatsuki, Ryoko/Hikaru, and Izumi/Leon. I’ve also put all of the Aestis into the Artillery Frame. We’ll need the extra firepower for this upcoming chapter.

Last time, one half of the group recruited Raijin-Oh while the other half is returning from Palau.

Well, we’ve gone through a lot on our ship lately.

Even though the Captain decided not to punish them, Megumi and Minato let a Jovian Lizard escape our ship after he infiltrated it.

Why did they do that? The Jovian Lizards are enemies of Earth just like the Vagans…

Obviously, a normal soldier would not have done that. But even between friend and foe, there’s a moral gray area…

But even with all that, it’s amazing how you managed to engage in battle with the Neo Zeon Remnants, the “Sleeves”.

Neo Zeon. Wait, do you mean that Neo Zeon?

What’s Neo Zeon?

Of course you wouldn’t know, Jin. It’s all over the news and we even covered it in class.

Neo Zeon are the people who tried to drop the asteroid Axis on Earth three years ago.

Is that so….

To be precise, it’s an organization that descended from the former Principality of Zeon, located in Side 3 in space. Zeon appealed for the establishment of Spacenoid autonomy, which eventually led to the One Year War.

Oh, you’ve been studying hard. A detailed explanation would take too long, so I’ll skip it for now. After a lot of things happened and after going through multiple changes in leaders and policies, the Neo Zeon we know today was established.

Speaking of that time, do you remember a strange light in the sky about three years ago?

That’s the Axis Shock, right? Axis was on a direct collision course to crash into Earth, but it suddenly changed course. I remember seeing it on the news non stop.

See, everyone knows it. You’re probably the only one who doesn’t.

Shut up. Studies don’t matter right now. Anyway, tell me more about the battle against the Sleeves.

Aight. We went into enemy lines on a mission to recapture a new mech they stole and rescue its pilot.

That new mech… The Unicorn Gundam itself was quite annoying to deal with.

Unicorn Gundam? There’s a new Gundam model? What do you mean by annoying?

It suddenly went berserk. Something about a Newtype annihilation system or something.

Strictly speaking, it didn’t go berserk, but I get why you’d think that. If Celestial Being’s Gundam didn’t risk its life to stop the Unicorn, we might have been in danger.

Celestial Being was there!?

Apparently they were also interested in the new model. We cooperated for a bit, but then went our separate ways.

Even so, I don’t like the way things were handled.

What happened?

I don’t fully understand it, but that Newtype annihilation system’s real name was… Um…

“NT-D”. According to the Anaheim executive, it stands for Newtype Destroyer.

“The one who destroys Newtypes”, huh… That’s not a very peaceful name. But what does that have to do with Celestial Being?

It seems the system recognized the Celestial Being Gundam’s pilot as a target.

He… He was in the most danger out of all of us, but he went to stop the Unicorn. But for the sake of the mission, we ended up threatening to shoot Celestial Being in the back.

I know we had no choice but to do that. If we didn’t, the outcome would have been far more tragic.

Even so…

…By the way, speaking of Celestial Being, they had a Gundam I’ve never seen before.

A brand new Gundam…?

It was a human sized Gundam. Even the EX-Gear my fleet uses doesn’t have the same firepower as that little thing.

I heard Celestial Being had an extremely technological advantage… I wonder how they developed something like that…

Yeah. The Admiral's errand turned out to be bigger than we thought. We ended up dealing with some strange people besides the Vagans.

Strange people?

They’re called Kiba’s Army. They were a group of wicked, ruthless thugs who rampaged all over Machine Island. Six months ago, when they fought the WSO, they lost their leader and supposedly disbanded. It seems they actually left the island and went into hiding.

Maybe they started rampaging in response to Big Ring’s destruction? How destructive. Hehehehe…

From what I heard, it was a crazy fight, but y’all managed to pull through.

No. It was actually Captain Yuuki’s newly fixed Wingle who was able to minimize damage to the city. Also it was thanks to the new mobile suit developed by the AGE System, the “Gundam AGE-3”.

The AGE System… It’s a self-evolving design system that automatically analyzes and designs weaponry based on collected data.

It seems that System was the key to turning the tide against many fights against the Vagans in the past. I never imagined it would still be aboard that ship after all these decades.

So you must be Kio Asuno, yes? I heard you did a great job despite never piloting the AGE-3 before. Though I’m not surprised since you’re the grandson of Former Commander-in-Chief Flit Asuno.

I’m just Grandpa’s grandson. All I did was fight.

I suppose that’s understandable. If you weren’t Commander Flit’s grandson, you wouldn’t have a Gundam in the first place. Thanks to the fate given to the Asuno family, you’re piloting the AGE-3.

I doubt they’re Jovian Lizards or Vagans. We haven’t detected any Boson Particle or Defold reactions when they appeared.

So with what we know, the number of answers we can guess are limited.

Even though they were fighting mobile weapons, I’m surprised that an entire tank corps was taken out so easily…

We have no data on the enemy. Their identities are still unknown.

Don’t be fooled by their appearance! They have firepower beyond what you’d expect from a small mech like that!

Just gather as much data as you can for future reference!

It looks like the Aura Machines’ output is increasing…

Byston Well dampens Aura Power. Up here, it’s allowed to run unfettered, increasing our power exponentially.

This must be a blessing from the heavens to help you solidify your rule.

I mustn't get conceited. But we must demonstrate our strength to the people of Upper Earth. All forces, resume the attack!

Alright, are you prepared for probably the most annoying secret requirement in the game?

Neo Byston Well Optional #1
Shoot down Drake’s Will Wipps during the first part of this chapter.

This is Drake’s Will Wipps. It’s at the far north-west corner of the map. Between us and him is a huge swarm of Aura Battlers. Drake sports the Prevail skill, which increases his defenses the lower his HP gets. His battleship also has a metric butt-load of defense and an Aura Barrier, which reduces all ranged damage by 1000. Thankfully, he doesn’t retreat at low HP or have any sort of HP Regen.

However, he does retreat when the number of enemy squads reaches 8. These squads will surround your slower units and prevent you from getting close. You’ll need to break through the swarm to get to Drake and then shoot that massive HP pool down while being bombarded by his troops. Thankfully they’re all paired up so you can shoot down half of a pair and still be fine. That’s your best way to gain will for this section.

That’s also not to mention that all Aura Battler enemies, when they reach 130 will, gain the High Speed Evasion ability which gives them a percentage chance to just flat out avoid any attack not affected by the Aim or Direct Hit spirits.

And on top of all of that, Drake’s ship has a massive MAP attack which will severely damage or outright destroy all mechs that get close to it. To say this is difficult is an understatement, even with NG+ money/skills. At least Drake isn’t immune to Dividing Driver at this time.

You may have noticed that this requirement is “optional” for the Neo Byston Well secret. It technically is, but if you take a certain route split later in the game, this becomes mandatory. And it just so happens that’s the route I want to take later for the “canon” route.

With all that out of the way, let’s get some boss dialogs.

Falsaber! I’ll find a way to break through to their boss! We won’t get anywhere otherwise!

Not a bad idea, but the enemy will be wary of that plan! Don’t forget that!

I see… So there are machines on the Upper Earth that can speak on their own. It’d be a shame to destroy them.

It may just be an autonomous robot equipped with a Super AI that was under development last I checked. Your Majesty, please be careful.

That machine must be that Gundam thing Shot mentioned.

It’s a bit premature to assume it’s the same thing just because it looks similar, but better safe than sorry. Gunner, drop him!

There’s a lot of monsters inside that thing… Could they be new Vagan models?

The plot continues either when Drake is shot down or there are 8 enemy squads left.

They’ve damaged this Will Wipps?

The machines from the Upper Earth are doing better than I expected. But don’t think you can shoot down the Will Wipps!

There’s so many of them…

And they keep sending out more of them! Fight us fairly!

It seems they’ve seen our limits and are trying to crush us with pure numbers…

But that doesn’t mean we’ll just let that happen!

Got some new units! Aura Battler Mazinkaiser SKL, anyone?

[Mazinkaiser SKL]
SKL’s main gimmick is that you can swap main pilots between Kaido and Magami with completely different movesets. With Kaido in front, you get more powerful but closer range attacks. When Magami is in charge, you get more accuracy, crit, and a long ranged attack. Magami for the grunts and Kaido for the bosses seems to be the best strategy. Also any skill parts given to Kaido or Magami will give the other one the same skill. That's literally two skills for the price of one.

[Billbine (and Wing Calibur)]
One of the most agile units in the game and a beast in melee. Once this baby hits 130 will, Off Shoot activates which gives a percentage chance to avoid any attack that would hit. Not like many attacks would have a good chance anyway. Aura Battler pilots also get a massive increase in power at 130 will. It can also transform into the Wing Calibur for increased movement, but less firepower.

[Dunbine]
Less powerful than the Billbine in terms of power and lacks the transformation. Its main weakness is a lack of long ranged weaponry, so get in close and hit hard. As a note, Aura Slash and Hyper Aura Slash also bypass barriers.

[Gran Garan]
A very defensive battleship thanks to its Aura Barrier and spirit set.

Dunbine and Billbine also have a combo attack with each other, but not until later in the game.

The objective now is to wipe out all remaining enemies. Watch out for that High Speed Evasion, especially from the bosses Black Knight and Zet. This can be extremely tough since, if you went for Drake’s head, you will be surrounded by a lot of angry bug mechs. If you can hit them, they’ll fold almost instantly. Dividing Driver will help a lot here.

I never thought I’d return to Earth! Jacoba Aon’s power is incredible…

So this is Tokyo. This is the world you were born in, right?

That it is! If only I could have stopped that battle in Byston Well…

I can’t believe I’m on Earth again… But that’s all the reason not to let Drake have his way! Especially since we have to worry about Aura Powers going berserk!

No HP regen or retreating at low HP, so this is an easy enough flag to trip.

And now boss dialogs. First is Zet in his red Zwarth. As with all Aura Battlers, try to outrange him and be wary of his will when deciding if you should use a spirit or not.

The Aura Machines you create are burning the Earth you’re from! That’s not right!

How’s that my problem!? I can’t be like Shot Weapon! I must surpass him!

If you can’t do that, then give up! How pathetic.

I know about Aura Machines more than anyone else! I should be able to fight on equal terms to even an Aura Battler!

If you really know more then you would recognize how different Aura Machines are on Earth! What a despicable man, taking all the credit without even trying to understand that!

Is it fear? Determination? His movements are a mixture of complex emotions… However, there’s no way a wavering sword can defeat the Black Knight!

It might have the maneuverability of an Aura Machine, but it can’t catch up to my Zwarth!

Whether I’m in Battleroid or Fighter mode, it’s gonna be tough to hit that guy… But this is the Valkyrie that Aisha and I built! It’s not like any other machine!

Although I bear a deep grudge against that machine, my true desire is to defeat Shou Zama! If you don’t want to die, then step aside!
