Summon bigger shell. Wartortle doesn't pack too much of a punch, but its Water typing gives it a lot of benefits, though you'll be needing Surf, otherwise you'll be waiting over 30 levels for a new move to replace Water Gun as you wade through a load of fairly uninteresting moves, aside from Bite, which can work quite well. You also get Rain Dance, which can be helpful, but also deadly, since it makes Thunder a very good move to use. Aside from that, due to the balanced attacking stats, you can use both sides relatively well, such as Water and Ice moves, along with Ground and Normal moves. It can work just fine, but you don't really get much to make use of your higher defensive stats, unfortunately. Still, while it's a fairly middle of the road Water type, that's still a fine compliment to give and it'll work out just fine.
