We've put it off long enough. Let's go finish some business in the dreaming hall.

OST - Elite Battle
It's time to kick some Willbreaker ass.
I had Volcarona in the lead because a bug type against grimmsnarl seemed promising, and Tapu Fini cause legendary seemed like a generically good opener. I do not think to click a bug type move against Grimmsnarl

A mega right off the bat, whew. That's scary. Shadow Ball doesn't do much here, but it lowers Volcarona's special defense so the next shot will most likely kill.
Both Volcarona and Tapu Fini are rocking multitarget moves with Heat Wave and Disarming Voice respectively, bringing Grimmsnarl pretty low and taking off half of Alakazam's health.
Grimmsnarl is last to move; surprisingly they do not have Prankster, but they still put up a Light Screen, which will half our special attack against the opposing team for the next 8 turns cause of it's Light Clay. It's safe to assume it has Reflect, the physical version of Light Screen, so ideally I want to take it out before my offense is completely crippled.

True to what I said, Volcarona goes down in another attack from Alakazam, but Tapu Fini manages to dispose of Grimmsnarl, keeping the balance fairly even and preventing Grimmsnarl from setting up any more problems.
Next up is Sigilyph, which is... Level 53. Whew, that ain't great.
They barely scrath Tapu Fini, but Metagross goes down in one Heat Wave, putting me at a numbers disadvantage.
To add insult to injury, Brine doesn't even KO Alakazam, leaving them on a sliver of health. I am mildly irked by this.
I wanted Alakazam gone like, yesterday. If Amoonguss needs to distract it so Tapu Fini can finish the job, so be it.

Finally. That's what I believe to be the main threat gone. We're still not doing great though, I have 3 mons out for the count compared to Circe's 2. Better call the Pokécenter...
But not for me.
Meet Arceus. No nickname yet, but don't call them mercy because they have no intention of showing any. They're holding the plate that makes them dark type, and they're about to clean house. Just look at how much health that Judgement took off a mon 10 levels above them!
Espeon has Choice Specs, an item that buffs special attack but forces the mon holding it to only use one move, and they're using Trick, a move to swap held items; this is a really mean trick they're doing where they're trying to give one of our mons the Choice Specs to limit them to using the same moves, throwing off our strategy.
Unfortunately for Espeon, our heavy hitter is holding one of the few items that can't be swapped, so Espeon has just locked themselves into being useless for the entire fight.

Sigilyph takes out Tapu Fini, but gets KO'd in return by Arceus. Because Espeon is useless (and only seems to want to try the trick on Arceus), leaving them alive to limit the amount of threats on the field is optimal here. If they smarten up, Arceus will likely outspeed and oneshot.
Bronzong comes in, and takes half it's health to Judgement.

Unfortunately I make a dumb play here. I decide to lower Bronzong's speed with Icy Wind, but Bronzong of course has Gyro Ball and I believe is decently known for having it. I had no reason to lower it's speed cause it's already really slow, all I did here was give it a power boost.
Time to crack out a full restore. I don't want Arceus to be the only mon left on the field, I want to have two mons so I can flee if the going gets tough.

Bronzong goes down, and Light Screen finally wears off. Oh, you forgot about Light Screen, didn't you? Those judgement hits were being halved, and yet they were still doing wonders against opponents about 10 levels higher than Arceus. Arceus is strong.
...Fuck. That's terrifying.
Okay, so it shrugged off a neutral Judgement. We might be in trouble here.
Mamoswine just barely surviving with one health.
Okay, Mamoswine got the speed debuff off. Hopefully this will allow Mamoswine to outspeed.
And it did! A combined Judgement and Superpower take Hoopa down. That was scary.

Espeon just gets obliterated. Completely destroyed.
So yeah, Circe is scary, but she's also committing hard to psychic types, and has no answer for dark types. We win these.
Late team preview for Circe!
: of any level now.
This is a decent reward! Now a lot of mon's stronger, high leveled moves are available without having to waste the good Shreds of Hope.

But that's not all! Psychic Terrain and Expanding Force TMs, as well as another Seamother's tear and a level 44 Shred of Hope! Expanding Force seems wild; it not only benefits from the 30% boost to psychic moves in Psychic Terrain, but also gets an addition 1.5x damage boost and becomes a multitarget move as well! This seems incredible.

So I haven't grabbed the DLC download yet; I don't want to stumble into DLC spoilers during this LP until I tackle the DLC, and a consequence of that is that I still have access to this statue, which was disabled (presumably because the DLC focuses on the moon, and what mon is in this statue).
We of course have all the mons for this because we've been incredibly thorough.

Lunala! There's only one fitting nickname for our cute little moonbat legendary.

Better Multiscale, and a decent movepool! I have no clue if Lunala benefits from Psychic Terrain; it supposedly buffs grounded pokemon only, but nothing says Lunala is grounded... despite, you know, being a flying bat.

Most of our team is dead, so off I go to the crystal to level up some new guys, as well as revive two oldies.
Here's the team currently! They seem pretty capable of cleaning up the few remaining threats on the isle.
I have no clue whether Extremespeed or Spacial Rend is better for Arceus. Extremespeed is cracked with normal type Arceus, but if I'm using Normal Type Arceus then I'm not using plates for Judgement. Gravity might also be a good option if I choose to run Darkrai with Arceus for basically guaranteed Dark Voids.

Chekov's Gun for later, courtesy of something I saw on the discord. We have 3 of these little fellas, and all of them will know Softboiled.
We're so rich we can buy all the TMs from this guy on Skyspear.
Prankster Grimmsnarl with dual screens? Yes please.
Grimmsnarl, Arceus, and Darkrai are looking like solid contenders for the Champion. Ground Type Arceus in fact seems really appealing for dealing with Zacian. Gravity plus Dark Void could be incredibly busted. 8 turns of half damage to whatever damage type I consider more threatening, and potentially 8 more if I live a turn with Grimmsnarl also seems crazy.
We left the Soul Collector alive last time we were here in Skyspear, but I feel confident we can take him.
Reflecting right off the bat cause I know Mimikyu is a physical attacker.
Spectrier pulls out a move that I'm pretty sure isn't a normal Pokémon move, Savor the Screams.

It damages both Pokémon, lowers both offensive stats for them, and then it withdraws. Combined with Spectrier's Intimidate, we are going to be hurting for physical attack this fight.
Mimikyu deals a hefty chunk to Grimmsnarl, which means I can't keep them in to set up Light Screen or I risk losing them. Glad I set up Reflect!

I switch out Ohio for Raikou, and get off a Grassy Glide on Cursola. I repeat it next turn to KO Cursola.

Meanwhile, Raikou busts Mimikyu's disguise, only for it to follow up with Substitute, keeping it alive a bit longer.

Gengar comes in to replace Cursola. Mimikyu tries some Shadow Sneak shenanigans but Reflect is pulling it's weight here, leaving barely a scratch. Meanwhile, Gengar learns how painful STAB Thunderbolt from a Legendary really hurts.
...You know, it's really easy to forget Gengar is poison type and thus, really good at dealing with grass types. Rip Rillaboom.
Mega Scizor time! That poison typing will be Gengar's downfall. ...Or at least, I thought, but apparently steel isn't super effective against poison, weirdly enough.
Doesn't matter, cause Gengar is a dummy. That was a mistake, you really shouldn't have given me a free turn.

Because unlike you, I can attack and buff at the same time!
Spectrier comes back out to Intimidate, putting a bit of a dent in Scizor's attack.
I make the mistake of choosing to finish off Mimikyu here. Why?

Because it allows Spectrier to pull off this little maneuver. There goes all the attack I got from Terminus.
Raikou at least finishes off Spectrier, which is the main annoyance gone.

Cofagrigus offers itself up on a silver... coffin? By halving it's health to put a curse on a mon I have no reason not to switch out now.
U-Turn allows me to attack and switch out simultaneously; momentum is Scizor's strong suit.

Raikou barely survives Trevenant's attack; I was going to Volt Switch out, but the Volt Switch ended up winning the fight after Trevenant loses most of it's health to Sucker Punch.
...I really hope we don't.
Our reward is Gengarite! Mega Gengar is apparently a monster in PVP; I guess Shadow Tag's pretty good?
One last thing this update. Let's finally hear the Fisherman's final story.
: I took up that burden willingly. And I shed it willingly when I met my daughter.
: I knew then, as sure as I know the sea, that I'd give anything for her. For a time, life was bliss.
: It was far from easy, but we looked after one another. I taught her how to fish, how to scavenge, how to defend herself. She taught me so much more.
: She's fiercely intelligent, my daughter. She certainly didn't get that from me. And she's a good person. Better than I ever was.
He pauses to look back to the shore.
: I couldn't keep her safe forever. One day, she told me she'd made up her mind.
: My greatest fear was realized. I did not want her to follow my path. So I told her of my journey.
: I told her of its many perils.
: I told her... that I didn't believe she had what it takes.
: I just wanted to protect her. But my fear of losing her had consumed me.
: It's been ages since we last spoke. That fight weighs heavy on my mind--and hers, I suspect.
That's... that's rough. Torn between trying to protect them and being supportive, I can see how that'd be painful.
: I've made my peace with it. It's not on her to forgive me.
: As a father, I have but one purpose: to prepare my daughter for what's to come.
: If I could do it all again, I'd do it just the same.
: I'm an old fisher. I've told you my stories. Both you and my daughter have outgrown your need of me. Please...
What are you asking here?
: My story has had its ups and downs. Perhaps I don't deserve this, but... I want it to end on my own terms.
: When you tell my story... I want to be remembered as a fighter. Someone who, in another life, could've defeated the Champion.
: Someone who supported the person that did. So I ask again...
Not yet.
: I understand. What I'm asking of you is not easily done.
: Should you change your mind...
I won't be making this decision. I will leave it up to you whether we honor his request or not.
