One big bad dragon is a very dangerous foe. Despite it not being able to utilize its STABs to its full potential, it's still very powerful due to its sheer stats and how it learns basically any move it feels like. It can learn all the Tutor moves, 38 of the 57 TM moves and can learn a great event move in Extremespeed. While you learn Wing Attack at evolution, there are plenty of other physical moves to work with, though Hyper Beam isn't as good as it used to be. Otherwise, take your pick of TMs to use, with plenty of special moves, as well as good STAB in Outrage. It's not too amazing, but you have the stats to become a mixed attacker, or a full special attacker. You just have high stats in general, so you can also take a bit of punishment and outspeed a good chunk of opponents, if not an amazing amount. By the time you eventually get a damn Dragonite, especially with this level curve, nothing will really stand in your way.
