Bonus update time! A new patch dropped literally today, and I figure I'd go over the changes. First of all, gender markers are now hidden in the party menu and in battle. It hadn't come up in the LP, but moves that worked based on gender had their gender mechanics removed at some point so they would just always work; and this update removes needing a specific gender to evolve certain pokemon (Kirlia no longer need to be male to evolve with Dawn Stone), so there's no tactical benefit to knowing your own or your opponent's gender in battle.
You can still view the gender in the summary screen though! It's just been reduced to flavor now.
My friend Ether ended up offering to draw stuff for the devs yesterday, so some of the stuff that had placeholder sprites (like Shreds of Hope, Seamothers Tear, Rock Hammer, Cut Shears, and Membership Card) now have real sprites! The Seamother's Tear sprite is based off the EXP Candy sprite Essentials has, but the rest of them are fully original, courtesy of her. I don't know what her plans are for future sprites, but she mentioned wanting to have different variations for the different levels of Shreds of Hope.
Another change is that some mons got movepool updates based on the feedback from the LP!
Pidgeot can now learn Heat Wave, giving them more coverage when Mega Evolved.
Luvdisc got a new catch movepool, which is, uh
ahahahahahahaha holy shit. New move that's 130 damage with no drawback, and triples it's damage if the target is confused, sure, why not? Both Captivate and Attract had their gender mechanics removed; Attract now just confuses the target, and Captivate is now a 70% accurate move that hits both opponents and lowers their special attack by two stages. Heart Stamp is the most normal move here, just a 60 damage move that can flinch, which is still really good given that Luvdisc has Swift Swim and thus can outspeed in the rain quite easily! If I ever nuzlocke this game I hope I can play around with this.
I was complaining about Seedot getting Nasty Plot when all their moves were physical; now they have grass knot and mega drain as special moves to complement Nasty Plot. Good change.
Lanturn's main change seems to be getting Charge a bit earlier, which is neat! Special defense boost and powers up their next electric attack.
Oh yeah sure just give dedenne Regieleki's signature move, why not (I approve)
Last of the moveset changes, but not least, we have Corsola! Corsola's movepool changes now support her being a wall; Reflect halves the physical damage your team takes, Amnesia lets Corsola take special hits, Recover to heal back damage once you've slown your opponent's ability to harm you to a crawl, and Ancient Power for both deaing damage and giving a slight chance to raise all stats. Very good!
Last thing I'll be showing off is that they prettied up Triple Triad a bit. The names are colored now, and your name no longer goes off the right side of the screen.
This isn't new, but this is my first time winning against Chaddicus cause I was too dumb to lose on purpose in a bonus update. First time you beat a Shadow Card player you get a blank card.
Will do, Chaddicus. Will do.
Other changes:
-Eevee's stats have been improved. I have no clue if this extends to the Eeveelutions, but I think it uses Partner Eevee stats now?
-Steel Executioner (aka Muramasa, aka Mega Scizor) had bugged stats before where speed, special defense, and special attack were shuffled, this has been fixed (before, it basically had 3/4ths the special defense it was supposed to because it was using speed instead of special defense, and it was slightly slower because it was using the awful special attack for speed)
-A Shred of Hope in Farmland got it's level buffed.
-Some wild pokemon are less varied in levels (so more consistent what level you'll find them at)
-Apparently there are Galarian Slowking added somewhere. I don't know where exactly, but they exist now.
-Various typos and bugs.
